I saw some *awesome* parenting this morning

I was dropping charlotte off at school and incidentally she was telling me how she was going to meet Cinderella soon, and there was a mom standing next to me kissing her child goodbye and the boy was telling her that he was pushed last time. So then mom says “when that happens you need to tell the teacherĀ  or you should just push them back.”

I looked over. OMG. I did not just hear a parent tell a 4 year old that its ok to push another child back when they are pushed. What is WRONG with her? Charlotte tells me when she is pushed or any other physical thing happens at school and i always stress to her that its NOT ok to push or kick or bite back, that you go to a teacher for them to handle it. Why didn’t that mom go to the teacher RIGHT THEN and address it. All the teachers were standing around…Instead, just say, PUSH BACK?

So we are going outside and she is front of me muttering something about pushing (yep, under her breath). Now let me stop and explain that where I drop Charlotte off, they have about 5 parking spots. Its SO tiny. Most people just park on the roundabout that brings you back into the road, because if you pull into a spot someone will block you in.

Anyhoo, I’m in an SUV so its higher and I park as far right as I can when I drop Charlotte off so other cars can still get out. This lady was parked smack in the middle of the road….with her car RUNNING. And as I am looking down into her car shaking my head, I notice a baby about 4 months in the backseat in a car seat.

Not only was she inside giving *awesome* advice to her son, but she left her car running, in the middle of the road, with a 4 month old in the backseat.

I better shut up now or Im gonna get REALLY ugly.

Wow, I just don’t understand some people. It’s scary how many stupid people are raising children.

There was a lady that did that here in Chicago. She left her baby (older) in the back seat while jumping out to put money in a Christmas Salvation Army kettle… She was ARRESTED!!!

She might as well put a sign on the baby’s forehead saying, “Hi, I am a free healthy baby. Please kidnap me. And while you’re at it, steal my mommy’s car.”

Also, your artistic abilities astound (-:

The baby being left alone in a running vehicle is so disturbing. It just makes me cringe to think what could happen to a child in that situation.

Well, we’ve told my son that if he asks another child several times to stop [insert whatever behavior] and they do not, if he gets pushed he can defend himself but getting into a fight is the last resort. Physical confrontation is not best answer but for some kids words don’t seem to work. Fortunately he’s never had to go there. I’ve been teaching him “my look.” ;^)

I just can’t imagine a baby alone in the car…… I also keep a close watch at what my baby is doing and never leave him unattended.
