I think it’s too late…

but I am trying to save this thing…

I went out this morning and did a double take. There was a caterpillar the size of my index finger, with his fluffy winter coat on, sitting next to the tire of my car.

I touched him and he was frozen stiff.

I am not sure if that translates to ‘dead’ or not in bug life.

Poor little guy.

It’s got so damn cold outside. It was 75 yesterday afternoon and this morning 30. I can’t for the life of me figure out where a caterpillar came from in December. He must have gotten his dates all out of whack.

I put him in a bowl and brought him inside. I am hoping nature shut him down but he will unthaw.

I have no clue what I am going to DO with him if he does, but the cat has a few ideas.

This is such mom thing to do, isn’t it?

It’s probably too late for the catepillar and I don’t think cat’s will do anything except play with it until it dies. I know we always want to save everything as moms.

  2. That is one big, ugly caterpillar.

Uh, I have no idea what to do with it.

Awww. I think he is cute. Fingers crossed for him. I was rehabilitating a butterfly for a few days. LOL. I know they only LIVE for a few days, but it couldn’t fly. Something wrong with its wings. And the boys KEPT finding it when I would put it outside. So I gave up and let it inside for a few hours and gave it sugar water. It seemed appreciative. Nature deserves a helping hand and kindness every now and then. Good karma.

All I gotta say is keep it away from Charlotte…you know what she did to the fish LOL.

Maybe you can put it in the garage or a shed and see if it crawls away? It could be playing dead…or not lol.
