but I am trying to save this thing…
I went out this morning and did a double take. There was a caterpillar the size of my index finger, with his fluffy winter coat on, sitting next to the tire of my car.
I touched him and he was frozen stiff.
I am not sure if that translates to ‘dead’ or not in bug life.
Poor little guy.
It’s got so damn cold outside. It was 75 yesterday afternoon and this morning 30. I can’t for the life of me figure out where a caterpillar came from in December. He must have gotten his dates all out of whack.
I put him in a bowl and brought him inside. I am hoping nature shut him down but he will unthaw.
I have no clue what I am going to DO with him if he does, but the cat has a few ideas.
This is such mom thing to do, isn’t it?

It’s probably too late for the catepillar and I don’t think cat’s will do anything except play with it until it dies. I know we always want to save everything as moms.
That is one big, ugly caterpillar.
Uh, I have no idea what to do with it.
LOL Love the cat staring over the bowl picture!
yeah, she got popped there for a minute. she reached in to “touch”
Totally mom thing to do. Hope for a Christmas miracle but I think its too late.
Awww. I think he is cute. Fingers crossed for him. I was rehabilitating a butterfly for a few days. LOL. I know they only LIVE for a few days, but it couldn’t fly. Something wrong with its wings. And the boys KEPT finding it when I would put it outside. So I gave up and let it inside for a few hours and gave it sugar water. It seemed appreciative. Nature deserves a helping hand and kindness every now and then. Good karma.
All I gotta say is keep it away from Charlotte…you know what she did to the fish LOL.
Maybe you can put it in the garage or a shed and see if it crawls away? It could be playing dead…or not lol.
Be careful with caterpillars, sometimes they sting you.
That is one big and fuzzy caterpillar. Poor guy.
such a mom thing to do lol. I think he maybe a gonner. Our know our weather has been funky here 75 drop to freezing back to 80 next day.
I was ok until you showed it’s belly. Let the cat have it….
awww, I dont know… our fish freeze in our pond every year and they are still ok… maybe..
Aww man, that poor little guy is a goner.
