Hey, IE Users………(my rant)

Listen very, very carefully.

GET A REAL BROWSER.

Who uses IE anymore? It has got to be the most virus exposed, Red X creating, page shifting, crashing piece of crap browser on the face of the planet.

Most developers refuse to even make their websites IE compatible in order to put their virtual foot down on IE being used period.

Yes, there once was a time that I too was resisting the change that is FireFox. I am not sure Bill Gates could stand it if I left him all alone with only his millions of dollars to hold and love him at night. But I did it! And you can do it too! In fact, I think Bill Gates does it on purpose so he can get a little giggle every time someones page closes with an error.  Now it works…..now it doesn’t. MUAHHAHAHAHAHA.

ie5x_newerrorreportingdialog

I can hear him now.

What brought this rant on you ask? We are having to code our entire new site for IE CSS separately because unlike most browsers out there, IE makes sure your site is not compatible to a visitor. I wanted to just put up a sign that said “Put your big bloggy panties on and upgrade” anytime someone surfed us via IE, but Kim wont let me.

I implore of you, I beg of you, save the internet some trouble and change to Firefox, Safari, Opera, SOMETHING else, ANYTHING ELSE, but IE.

Oh, and if your wondering, I got Redneck pool up in two hours, which when I started to fill, I realized was sloped on the yard. Now its too heavy to move, DH is out of town, I’m too antisocial to know any neighbors for help, and Charlotte wants to get in yesterday. To top it off, I am so frustrated at this point that I cant put the ladder together and the pool is too high to get in without it.

This leaves me with no choice but to drag out a dining room chair to my backyard to get in and out of the pool. This is what dreams are made of.

I am punishing myself by eating asparagus for dinner.

I have to say that I have to use FireFox to use my statcounter and some other programs that IE can’t use or run, but I use IE for the opposite stuff that FF can’t. :x It’s annoying!

“Why can’t they all just get along?”

  2. The main reason I switched to Firefox a while back is because if I saw the screen above ONE MORE TIME, I was literally going to take a hammer to my computer screen!

  3. Jamaise says:

I love Opera – recommended by our techie friend for bloggers. It’s not considered very safe – but I’ve never had a problem. Don’t feel bad for Bill Gates, I think even he personally recommends against IE.

  4. AWESOME POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Christi says:

Amen! Firefox rules! I hate getting to a site that you must use IE! That’s the worst thing ever!

As far as the pool….ur in Alabama? Just how far away from me? ;) My pool is a little sloped and i injured my neck pulling on it…u need help!

  6. Alicia says:

AMEN!!! Thanks Trisha! This so needed to be said!

  7. Rana says:

    I’m switching! I’m switching!

  8. Michelle says:

I still use IE and I hate it. I’m going to switch soon. I hate that error message you posted above. I get that almost daily. it’s ridiculous.

  9. Gotta say…54.44% (as of today) of my readers use IE. Until they are NOT the majority, I’m going to have to keep them happy by making sure it is compatible with their browser.

    Firefox users were only 37.32%.

  10. I’m using Google’s Chrome browser. I love it!

  11. Amanda says:

People still use IE? I had so many issues with it I switched years ago. Why would you cling to a browser that has more bugs than my backyard? When I work on my blog, I only work in Firefox, and quite frankly I don’t give a damn if it looks crappy in IE because I’m not opening IE to see how my blog looks and opening my computer up to all that havoc. It’s not worth it.

    On the pool front:
At least you didn’t do what some people we know did. They put one of those pools on their deck. Said pool caused their deck to break and then the wood came up through the pool. They had to fix their deck and get a new pool.

  12. Marcy Strahan says:

    I meant I went back to IE7.

SURE WISH THE COMMENT SECTION HAD AN EDIT FEATURE.

  13. i love you for this! i just switched to safari….so much faster! wtf have i been thinking!!!

  14. Marcy Strahan says:

Sorry to tell ya~but I am NOT WEARING ANY PANTIES!

I tired foxfire & did not like it. It was slow & I hate other problems with it.

IE7 WORKS BEAUTIFULLY FOR ME! IE8 STILL HAS BUGS & QUIRKS…….SO I WENT BACK TO IE8.
If you have a good anti virus & no what you’re doing…set restores daily , clean & defrag & all that there are no problems.
It is not ie but the hackers messing with widget codes.
They have already started targeting other browsers.
Safari requires Quicktime….which is on the top of my crap list.
Opera looks great but is not compat. with robo form or google toolbar / blogger yet.

I know IE front to back & have everything set up just the way I like it.

I hope I can contine to visit your blog even though I am bare bottomed.
