Just curious..do you think that this glamourizes

teen pregnancy on the whole “Being a mom is the best feeling in the world” stamped on this magazine with a 17 year old mom? I personally think it should say “Being a mom is the best feeling in the world when you are rich”.

  1. The sad truth is that impressionable young girls won’t see the hard parts of motherhood…only what the magazines glamourize. A cover like this says “look how cool it is to be a mom” featuring someone they look up to and identify with. But when they see the negative press a la her sister Britney, they can easily rationalize it away as being a “celebrity” issue. They completely miss the hard choices and experiences that come with motherhood. I just hope parents are prepared and involved enough to talk to their kids about it.

  2. Motherhood is great and hard at any age. She may have it easier because her and her family have money but the task at hand is just as hard. Maybe harder because she has the world against her since she’s in the public eye.

  3. Have you seen that show where they give teens kids to babysit all night? I think they should pare up with the SuperNanny show and give the teens THOSE kids. Now, that would be a show I would watch.

  4. Haha, well they might hold him for 5 minutes then they give him back and say they don’t want to hold him anymore. That’s when I remind them whenit’s your baby you have to do it all the time !

  5. Hey jenn…thats not a bad idea. I should wait till my daughter is a teen and then get pregnant and make her babysit. LOL!

  6. Well since I have a girl 15 and one turning 13 next month. I made sure to loudly remind them when I seen that on the tv screen, just rem that girl has lots of money,in real life when you are a young girl and have a baby, you lose most of your friends, you sometimes have to drop out of school and you never have fun anymore..no going out with your friends and going to movies or hanging out at the mall or anything else you girls like to do, you will be watching a baby all the time with no nanny to raise it,because you don’t have lots of money you never finished school and now you will never have a good job! Just think about all those things any time you are ever alone with some rotten teenage boy, now hold your baby brother a minute just as an extra little reminder will ya, so I can make your lunch and do your laundry. Motherhood is so much fun!

  7. I feel sorry for the baby but who knows this could be a blessing in disguise. I just hope that she is a better Mother than her sister is.

  8. I have mixed feelings. This baby is going to grow up one day and read all the bad publicity about her being here. It’s nice to see something positive and 17 or not the statement is true, I don’t think it says it’s not hard work but it is the best feeling “being a mom”. It doesn’t say “being a mom at 17″.

  9. It is just wrong to make teenage motherhood look glamerous and easy. That’s exactly what this cover is telling tweens. As you mention, money plays a huge factor in Jamie Lynn’s happiness. Most teenage mothers will have only their mothers and fathers to count on for support, if that. She needs to be telling kids to stop having sex because look what can happen. It’s a great feeling, but those “great” feelings are fleeting when all you want to do is go to the mall and text your friends all day. Can you tell I’m a little passionate about this?

  10. it deos. IMHO Jamie Lynn spears is pimping herself out. Yes she has money but this iss pretty much telling all of her tween fans that “this is fun! anyone can be a mom!” Yeah. right….
