Sorry I got to this late…please vote for who you think should win a JVC Everio camera! We picked 6 finalists, not 5, because we enjoyed all 6 of these entries. I will close the contest on Friday and the person with the most votes will win.
FINALISTS
1) My cousin Amy is six-months-pregnant with her first child. At 21-years-old, she will be a young mother. Last summer she married her long-time boyfriend just before he left for his second tour in the Middle East. He returned home safely, they started trying, and a few months later she happily discovered that she was pregnant.
Amy’s husband will leave again in February for another tour in Iraq. He is leaving for a year. During that year, he will miss many of his son’s milestones. I cannot imagine being alone for that long. Amy will be living on base, hundreds of miles away from her family and close friends.
It breaks my heart that she’ll be going through early motherhood all by herself and I think a special gift like this would bring her some cheer. My husband only traveled a few weeks out of every month when my first son was young, and that was enough to drive us both crazy. My happiest moments were when I could send him little videos and images of his son.
I would love to win this camera for her, so that she can record her son’s precious moments to share with her husband when he returns again safely.
2) Theres so many reasons why I want to win this, but more than that there’s reasons why I need this camera. My niece is having her first baby this fall and she doesn’t have a camera nor can she afford to get one with times like they are right now.. I would give anything to be able to gift this to her. She is beaming with excitement over the birth of her first child…she just glows with happiness every moment of her pregnancy. It would make her so incredibly happy to be able to caputre all of the moments that lie ahead with her baby as it comes into the world and grows up. Memories are great, but memories through a camera are spectacular. My niece is a beautiful person inside and out and she has two brothers who will be a hoot with their niece/nephew when it arrives and while it is growing up. I would love for my niece to be able to capture all of the special moments and times that lie ahead with her soon to be firstborn. The fun thing about winning this camera is that it would arrive in time for her to also capture some of the moments of her “glowing” pregnancy. If only you knew my niece then you would know why she is so deserving of being gifted this camera. Thank you so much for the chance to win this for her. If I am chosen to win this, I’d gladly give you her name and address so you could send it to her if you would like to. She actually is going in today to get her ultrasound done and if she chooses, she will find out if the baby will be a boy or girl. We all know though how even with the ultrasound they can say it is one and then “surprise” it’s born and it’s the opposite sex. Thank you, once again, this is appreciated.
3) I want to win this camera because I want to create original online content. I am quietly working behind the scenes on Penny Pinching TV, an online internet tv station that will provide quality show content for moms and women. I need an HD camera to get nearer to my goal.
The first show that I am working on is a documentary type show on my life raising four boys. (I’m in a house full of testosterone. There has to be some funny content in there somewhere.) It will be in the form of a weekly 30 minute show full of clips, and diary room entries, from myself, my children and my fiance.
I may not be interesting to all but I crack myself up on a daily basis. Who doesn’t need a good laugh here and there? If CBS won’t answer my call, I might as well go it alone.
4) My son was diagnosed with A.L.L. (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) on January 25, 2009, the day of his 2nd birthday party. I want to win this camera because my little boy is going through one of the most difficult times of his life, and we don’t know what the outcome may be. He has remained a joy in everyone’s life, always smiling and happy, no matter how bad of a day he has had or how he feels. He has gone through so many changes since January. Steroids that make him swell, his hair slowly falling out, learning to use the “big boy potty” at the hospital, and talking up a storm. There are so many moments that I can’t catch with pictures. I can capture still photos on my digital camera, but his smile and his vibrance can’t be captured with those. When he stands with Daddy on the porch and laughs at the rain, or when he gets SOO excited that his baby brother is awake and can play with him. His first time playing outside in his pool, and taking his bunny to chemotherapy. Things that I want to remember forever. I have never had a video camera before, but I would love to be able to capture my most precious memories of my baby boy as they happen. Also, My in-laws live 1600 miles away and haven’t seen him in over a year due to financial issues. My mother-in-law only gets pictures every few months, and I would love to be able to give her a CD with nothing but video of my little boys. A year of pictures just don’t do them justice. Thanks for the giveaway.
5) I would love to win this camera so that I can document my surrogacy journey for my intended parents. They live 7 hours away and I want them to feel as much a part of my pregnancy as I do. This camera would beautifully document doctors appointments, my growing belly, babies moving around! So many amazing things that my existing lame cameras could never do!
I have one pocket camera that doesn’t record well in the light.
The other one doesn’t record well in the dark.
My digital camera is on it’s last leg.
The JVC Everio would make everything picture perfect for the parents.

YAY! I won! I’m SO excited! I appreciate so much everyone that voted for my story. My IP’s are super stoked, too! YAY!
Thank you Trisha!!
#6 did have VERY low volume, but I could hear!
this is a tough choice! Best of luck to all of the contestants!
All six finalists have such great reasons for needing the camera. Best of luck to each entrant. I can see why six were chosen rather than just 5. Narrowing it down to the six must have been just as tough as now narrowing it down to one.
What a difficult decision to choose but I think I narrowed it down to two. Unfortunately I couldn’t get any volume on 6 so I have no clue what she was saying
Good luck to Everyone

Thanks
I voted also. If I had six cameras to give away-I definitely would give them away to these 6 people
I voted. It was a very difficult choice. They all have such good reasons to win, but I did pick the one I thought could benefit from a video camera the most.
