Keeping Green with Primo Water (closed)

As a part of our Green month around here where we are focusing on quite a few green bloggers, boutiques, and products throughout the month, we wanted to spread awarness of Primo water. Out here in the south, water is something you don’t take for granted. Not because of the heat, no siree, but because of THESE:

If you don’t stock up, you could be stuck for days or weeks without a way to clean, pee, eat, and drink. Its nice to know that in the modern day of consumption there are still companies taking corporate responsibility and assisting in environmental responsibility where they can. Its also nice to have a choice to pick a bottle of water that does my part when I am stocking up, and at only $4.99 for 18 bottles (27 CENTS a bottle), I can also do it without breaking my bank. We are just about paycheck to paycheck in my world, so where I can go green, by saving green, I am all ears.

A bit about Primo:

Primo’s environmentally-friendly bottle is made from renewable and sustainable American resources, not depleting non-renewable resources like crude oil. In fact, if all plastic PET beverage bottles made from crude oil sold today in the U.S. were instead made from IngeoTM plastic, Americans would save the equivalent of a billion gallons of gas each year.2 Manufacturing the Primo bottle is also more environmentally efficient as it requires 65 percent less fossil fuel resources and emits 80-90 percent less greenhouse gases than a traditional petroleum based bottle.

Consumers will not only enjoy Primo for its environmental benefits, but also for its great taste. In blind taste tests conducted across the U.S. in late 2007, three out of four consumers preferred Primo over the leading spring water and four out of five preferred Primo over tap water.3 Primo is available at nearly 4,000 retail stores across the country.

Primo Water doesn’t want you to take our word for it, they want you to test them out. Our household has already drank our Primo water right up! They have very generously donated TEN cases of Primo water, at 18 bottles a piece, to 10 lucky winners! To save the environment further, they will be sending a coupon that will allow you this free purchase rather then shipping it and waisting all those boxes.

What you can win: One of 10 cases of Primo water of 18 bottles

How you can win: Tell us how your family assists in going green each month! Or, tell us why its important for companies to maintain going this direction for the world.

Contest ends Sept 11th, 10 winners will be drawn via Random.org, 48 hours to claim before they are redrawn.

We’re using the environmental light bulbs. We recycle paper, glass, plastic, cardboard and cans. We help manage heating and cooling by using the shades and drapes in the hot and cold weather. We use a digital thermostat.

Well, here are a few ways in which our family has “gone green”.

My husband bikes to work at least once a week (it’s about 50 miles round trip, but he enjoys getting the exercise, too).
    We recycle.
We use our toddler’s bath water to water our plants (lots of trips up and down the stairs carrying a watering bucket, but it’s also good exercise).
We walk to a local farmer’s market once a week to buy our produce.
We are big fans of “Freecycle” and try to use this forum to give away something that we are no longer using at least once a month.
We also reduce consumption by having our toddler wear mostly hand-me-downs from his three older cousins (we are very fortunate in this respect).

We are trying really hard to be a green as we can be: use reusable grocery bags, use metal water bottles instead of plastic bottle after plastic bottle, we use glass containers or plastic containers instead of ziploc, we have a worm bin, we shop for as many local items as possible and are part of a farm co-op, non-toxic cleaners- hygiene products- etc., we use dish towels instead of paper towels as much as possible, we open our windows for cool air and have house plants to help clean the air.
