I have a confession

I love leg warmers.

I see them in movies.

You know the movies I mean. The kind that stars a girl with an unfulfilled dream. She gets a job as a janitor and is inevitability discovered while mopping the bathroom and ends up with a full scholarship to Ballet Prep High. Sniff. My ultimate Cinderella story.

Those girls. They wear leg warmers.

And they just look so…cool.

Hip? Rad? Righteous?

I have no idea what the lingo is anymore. I am not even going to try. Somewhere around 2020 I am hoping Charlotte will let me know and Ill update this post.

Mark my words.

Around here I see girls at the mall, (lets just ignore the fact that they are between the ages of 14 and 16) with leg warmers and heels and its sexy. Not that girls that age should *look* sexy, but it makes me mad that in the 80′s I was too young and now that they are back again in 2010, I’m too freaking old.

Where’s the love, God?        Where’s. The. Freaking. Love.

Atleast I’m old enough to realize that I cannot get away with leg warmers and heels.

But oh…just to have a pair like this for a day:

Come to think of it, I would kinda look like this.

Kinda.

Which sorta looks like a 32 31 year old trying to be hip.

Nevermind.

That’s why we call them dreams, people.

  1. I think you would totally ROCK a pair of leg warmers.
I had some growing up, but didin’t have the cool clothes to wear them with, so I just look like a goof!!

  2. i WAS old enough to wear leg warmers in the 80′s. I wore them with everything.

And lace ankle socks with heels. And,,,

    Fuck I’m old.

  3. Deborah says:

Leg warmers are practical. More people should wear them.

  4. Amy says:

Same here! I knitted myself some big chunky striped legwarmers and my friends all made fun of me. But they’re so toasty. I don’t really wear them outside but I rock my living room in them. Glad to know there are fellow legwarmer lovers.

  5. Nichol says:

I dressed up as an 80′s girl for Halloween leg warmers and all and loved it!

  6. Cat says:

Your fashion style scares me Trisha. The heels and leg warmers are the probably the most horrendous fad I’ve ever seen, just slightly worse than straight leg jeans.

But this is coming from the girl that grew up in flares, big bangs and shirts with only one sleeve.

  7. Suzanne says:

Back in the 80′s, we wore them over our skinny jeans. You could totally rock the skinny jeans and leg warmers look. No heels.

Then we gravitated into slouch socks, which was like leg warmers lite.

    I am old.

  8. Lilou says:

you could wear a pair with ankle boots totally age appropriate

  9. Nicole says:

You know I was at the Mall looking at some the other day. We’re totally not too old. I’m so going to get a pair this weekend. F’ it! We only live once and we are so not old! Plus- you’ve totally got the legs to pull it off!
don’t think I’m going to wear mine w/ heals though. I live in my Uggs during the winter so I’m going to layer them over a pair of tights… Yep. I’m getting a pair!

  10. Laurie says:

Ahhh I remember leg warmers. Youc ould totally pull it off :)

  11. DualMom says:

I think you should get them too! I’m sure there’s a “scaled” down way you can wear them that wouldn’t make you look as though you’re trying to relive your youth! If you’re old at 31, what am I at 36? I probably should just start digging my grave now, eh? lol

  12. Kayla says:

You know, I always say if you like something, go for it! No matter what you look like or how old you are, if you like it(and it’s within reason that is), do what you want :)

For the record, I think you would look fabulous!

Who cares what anyone else thinks ^.^

  13. Amanda says:

Maybe wear them to a party or Halloween? They are cute..not everyday stuff but geez we only live once and who cares what you wear anyway, right?

  14. Michelle says:

You can totally do it.. I think you should get a pair and have a blast… I do not suggest wearing them with that hot dress… but even then.. you do have the attitude to do it and make it right!

  15. I totally think you should get them and rock a pair! You can do it. You don’t *look* in your 30′s and who put an age limit on them anyway! I just turned 30 and I think *I* am going to get me a pair. I think they are adorable! You can do it… sport the attitude and your good ;)
