I live in Mobile, the birthplace of Mardi Gras, which means somewhere around November I start thinking about what I am going to wear to a Mardi Gras Ball. Last year was actually our first time attending one and it was a bit of a let down. This year my husband has JOINED an organization so we will be going to HIS ball. I am not sure if I can mention the name of it because they get all secret squirrely about that stuff, so I am going to err on the side of caution and not for now.
Last year my dress was this lovely little maroon gown and I hate that I wasted such a beautiful dress on such a boring time, but atleast I looked good.
(at the event…not my spouse)
When I was shopping I was really loving this number too, but it was SO long and I didn’t have time to do a ton of dress alterations.
This Sunday I went over to pick my daughter up from her grandparents house and Lynsey and I made a quick 5 hour escape to the mall first to try on what should have been Christmas party dresses. I did find a cute red dress that might be good for Christmas, but I ended up buying this, which will probably be my Mardi Gras dress.
What do you think?
(psst…ignore my office)
I know its black and black is boring and not really my signature color, but I just felt good in it. And it made my boobs not look like a size A so it gained some bonus points.
I am thinking hair up and maybe a small tear drop necklace with a black (fake) diamond?

Love it! And, it’s hard to beat last year’s look. But, you always look good. You can rock that black dress for more than one occasion. I would add the bling on the neck and arm.
Yeah I dont think I have ever worn a bracelet before! I am excited to go look.
I like it a lot and as others said you can go anywhere with the accessories and diamonds always look good with black.
On a side note I have that camera bag in cream and brown
So pretty!
Va! Va! VOOM!!!! I love it!!!
Love the idea about the necklace too! Helps bring more attention to the boobs {and they do look great in that dress!}
Depending on how big a necklace you get you could also get a pretty bracelet or cuff to go on your wrist too {if that is your style}
i dont generally wear bracelets, but that IS a good idea. Ill shop for some and see! Thankyou!
Black means you can have a lot of fun with the accessories. That dress is a perfect fit for you! Let les bon temps roullet
yes! i was thinking total tiara moment.
Oh, absolutely!
LOVE it! It’s very sophisticated and you look fantastic, Trisha!
I LOVE the black one! Looks great on you too!
I love this dress! I think that it can be universal. If you do a fancy updo and the simple jewelry, it will be nice and fancy. It could also work for a less fancy occasion by dressing it down. I happen to find that dinner/cocktail dresses are more knee/shin length though. When I see long, like this, it makes me thing it’s more fancy. I say go with it! Looks great and it does give you that little cleavage. Bonus!!
its hard to tell in the shot but its a mermaid bottom and has tulle under it so its fluffy when i walk…it reminds me of kinda iconic dresses that are older in style
It looks great on you Trisha! Makes your butt look good!!
You’re always beautiful no matter what you wear. It’s not my favorite on you, but you still look great in it.
