Mother of the Year
I am Mother of the Year. Why you say? Because of this conversation.
Scene: Haas family driving down road going to Walmart. We pass dog races. I look over.
Me: “Honey, we should go to the dog races sometime. We have lived here a year and have never went. That would be fun”
Charlotte’s voice from Back of car: “I want to go the dog races!!”
Me: “You cant go. Your not old enough. You have to be 18.”
Silence.
Charlotte: “OK, when I am eighteen I can go to the dog races.”
DH: “When your 18, Ill take you”
Charlotte: “OK!!”
End Scene.
3 weeks later.
Setting: Charlotte is getting out of the bath tub standing on her bed and I am drying her off.
Me: “Your getting so big!”
Charlotte: “I know, I’m getting bigger!”
Me: “Don’t have any kids for 20 years. That makes you 24. You cannot have kids till your 24.”
Charlotte: “OK, mommy. And then we can go to the dog races!!”
While other girls want ponies and tutus, Charlotte now has a lifelong dream to gamble. Perfect.

Oh and ya know, my son for the longest time wanted to be a dancer! lol And my now he wants to be an OBGYN so he can play with the babies! lol And my oldest wants to work at McDonalds!

Why do the under five set have the memory of an elephant?
I keep hearing this from my young’un: Mommy? You go forgot to do it! Remember??? Like you said last day?? REMEMBER?
She, oftentimes, can’t remember where her favorite toy is at and screams like she has lost a limb, but she will never let me forget something I told her. Unless it’s “clean up your toys”, “stop screaming at me”, or any of the other things she gets in trouble for.
Funny how that works.
We took my son and brother in law to the horse race track for the first time last summer. My son was 3 and my brother in law was 18…LOL.
Both of my boys love when we play poker at our house. They get right up on our lap, hold the cards, put the money in and say “All in”. I think we are creating monsters.
But I think they will turn out all right. My brother in law was 8 when I met my hubby. We taught him how to tap the keg at 10 just so we wouldn’t have to leave the bonfire. He turned out alright.
kids at that age NEVER ever forget so never promise what you can’t keep. My son still thinks I”m going to let him ride a motorcycle when he’s 18. I’m hoping he’ll forget. lol
Haha well in honesty she probably is just envisioning puppy dogs running around and racing and playing and it sounds fun to her little kid brain KWIM?

Do you recall the Green House giveaway HGTV had last year? Well one day my 9 year old came up to me as I was filling it out. He read over my shoulder and said “Mommy? Are we going to move to SC to live there?”
I explained I was entering the contest, and how we had a chance to win, but not a big chance.
Later that month, I volunteered in his class. his teacher asked when we were moving. (lol) I looked at her, in shock, because he didn’t know our orders weren’t final yet for here (Fort Polk) and so we weren’t even certain of the move. so i asked her what she was talking about, and she told me about SC, and I laughed. Hard! LOL He told her we won a big new house in SC rofl!

They NEVER forget. My son is almost 4. He keeps asking if he’s 6 yet, so he doesn’t have to sit in the carseat. And then he says, when I’m 14, I can sit in the front seat of the car.

Yup.. And my son wants to drink, drive a motorcycle and do drugs. His life’s ambitions…where did I go wrong?!?!
