My favorite holiday candy…

I’m an Easter girl actually. There is nothing better then Dove Truffle Easter eggs. I think my mouth is watering just typing about them. Every year after Easter, I run out and buy as many boxes as I can and freeze them in hopes of keeping them till next Easter. Apparently everyone else does too, because it seems to be hard to get them within a day after the holiday is over. Sometimes what I get can last a month…if I am lucky. I have a bad habit of taking a few out a day a week and eating them.  Come to think of it, last year they changed the size of them and I wasn’t a fan of the change. Why mess up a good thing?

But I have fond, fond memories of Swissy Colony Truffles. Have you ever had these? My dad would get a box and put it on the table and every time anyone would walk by, they would take one. Those truffles would be gone in 2 days flat. Every year I talk about them, every year I never do….maybe THIS is going to be my year!

Swiss colony also does these Petit fours that look tasty.I have never had these, but they look like I would eat 10 in one sitting, so this may not be a great situation.

I am trying to decide what I should get as a little holiday treat. Do you have any suggestions? What is something that you cant wait to get around the holidays?

    Those truffles are PRECIOUS!

I’m a beignet and hot chocolate girl. I also love my grandma’s homemade rocky road.

I love the Petit Fours! I brought a box back to college one year after Christmas, and my roommate ate almost the entire thing!

I’m terrible, I order candy from back home and have it shipped to me. We have this stuff called sponge candy that I love. It has the texture of chocolate covered foam, but it’s oh so good.

I always saw ads for those petit fours in catalogs as a kid and have alwaaaaays wanted them. I am 35 and never had them! Now you have me majorly tempted…. Mmmmm. As for the Aplets and Cotlets… I saw those on a show on Food TV and then I found them at our dollar store for a dollar a few years ago. They were good!

I’ve never tried either but they look so yummy. Chocolate doesn’t last at our house. I don’t think freezing it would deter me from eating it. I’d risk a broken tooth if I needed chocolate badly enough!

My aunt used to make THE BEST homemade toffee at Christmas. I loved it. She gave me the recipe but I couldn’t get it to work. I tried it like 4 different times one Christmas and none of them turned out. I gave up. I’m usually good at making candy but not that toffee. I personally prefer homemade candy. I usually make Oreo truffle balls, caramels, chocolate dipped pretzels and a few other types of candy. Ok now I need chocolate!

  7. We used to get petit fours!! My brother-in-law is crazy about those nestle chocolate oranges. That’s the only holiday candy I can think of that’s really ONLY available at a holiday. Besides candy canes, which I don’t really care about.

  8. Ohhh I love those Swiss Colony Petit Fours! My grandmother used to get those for me every Christmas. Now my mom has taken up the tradition but she sends me Aplets and Cotlets from http://www.libertyorchards.com. These are quite a treat, too! Yummy fruit filled goodies.
I can’t wait for them this year! :)
