My husband and I got in a stupid fight last week

[private]Over swimsuits.

He thinks I should be wearing this one (you have a great body, yadda yadda, blah blah, flatter, flatter, hope we have sex later)

In black and polka dots:

Inside my head I hear: You have a great body for a 31 year old, with one child and no boobs.

I was almost sold on it. Then he says something utterly stupid and reminds me I will be wearing this in front of my father all summer in his pool.  Nothing like putting on a tiny bikini in front of your dad. Its just weird.  Now I want a one piece. I found a cute one at the Tommy Hilfiger outlet.

I put it on, I think its cute.

He says: “you look short and stubby in it”.

Dude. I am short. Hi, I’m your 5 foot tall wife, nice to meet you.

Now I have no swimsuit. I can be short and stubby or boobless and half nude.

I am thinking of ordering this one:

To be honest, I’m thinking of just going with a tank top and a pair of shorts at this point. The girls on the Victorias Secret website make me want to  simultaneously slit my wrists and puke on myself.

I can agree with not wanting to wear the bikini around your dad but I would get it anyway and take a vacation with the family.

I am feeling the short and stubby myself. I am 5’1 1/2″ (yes – the 1/2 is important as you know). I, however, would so NOT look hot in that bikini. These days I am aiming for a shape that is not round. With my pale skin I resemble a Butterball turkey. Enjoy your figure – really and try not to be offended by the short and stubby. At least he didn’t say you were round and instead told you he thinks you are hot in the bikini! Wear what you feel good in and admire your husband for complimenting you (in his own way)!

    Swimsuits are hell!

  4. Dore' says:

Why not get the bikini for Key West and also get the black one for days at your dads! Everyone wins… and you get 2 suits outta the deal!! Sounds like a plan!

  5. I don’t wear swimsuits period…after having 2 kids in 20 months and now being preggo again…shooting for 3 kinds in 36 months my body is wrecked for the time being LOL.

But, my hubby tells me all the time that I dress badly, that my clothes look like crap, that I don’t tweeze my eyebrows correctly, that I need to dress my age (not older) and that I use to be hot so what happened.

Had a douche looked at himself recently…dude’s not winning any prizes.

With only one kid and some boobs under your belt I think you should give it a go.

  6. Trisha, wear it while you can. I would give anything to put a bikini back on but it will never happen. Sorry, I’m taking your hubby’s side on this one.

He’s got a point about your dad. But honestly…you know you’ll look fine in whatever. Just pick what you like and will be comfortable in. I think the black one is super cute!

i agree. which is why i dont want to wear a bikini and HE wants me to wear one.

Ha ha, at least there’s hope for you Trisha! I’ve never been comfortable in anything besides a Speedo racing suit & I’m PREGNANT this summer…I have no idea what I’ll be able to find that covers my belly & holds my boobs up!

  9. I like the black bathing suit. I’m thinking of getting a tankini top & boyshorts or a bathing suit with the skirt hitched. haha.

  10. Suzanne says:

    I like that black one.

You know how they do the suits for your body type? I’ve got three body types in one, so I never know what will look good-I gave up and bought two tankinis.

  11. I think a one piece with a V-neck and high cut legs will make you look taller.

  12. Lori E says:

If you are short and stubby I don’t know how to describe me. Go with the black one with high thigh cut to make you look taller and leaner.
By the way when a man refers to you as short and stubby it is a compliment because remember beer bottles used to be short and actually called stubby bottles. Now what could be a bigger compliment than that?

HUGE swimsuit issues here too. I don’t know that I will EVER get into a bikini again. I keep stretching my tankini’s beyond recognition. I think I’ll have to go one-piece. Now to find one to hide my belly.

  15. I have swimsuit issues too. I spent my entire childhood in a bathing suit because I swam competitively. Now after becoming a mom putting on a suit sends me running to the hills.

I think the bikini is really cute if you didn’t have to chase a child and wear it in front of Dad. I don’t know if I would go with the one piece too mom-ish wait 10 more years. Go for a nice tankini.

I feel your pain on the VS models. I’ve searched every inch of the internet for a suit. My one of choice comes from ModBe Clothing its the halter with the little ruffle. My second runner up was the VS Miracle Bra halter tankini.

I Like the black one. I think you’d look good in one from Jacqueline’s blog.

  17. I’m a bikini kind of girl

But why not go for one of these they are so cute!

    @ bloggymommy3:
Right, dad doesnt, but no one wants to be half naked around thier parents. LOL!

  19. bloggymommy3 says:

I really like both of them. I’m so sure you could pull off that two piece! But hey, whatever you feel most comfortable and sexy in! And btw, I don’t think your dad would be thinking anything about the two piece. lol Dads dont think like that! And if nothing else get both and only wear the two piece for your dh!

  20. Short and stubby was a bit blunt….men! I would go with the one piece if it’s what you feel most comfortable in. If you are going to be self conscious in a bikini, then you won’t have fun while wearing it. Just my two cents ;-) Or you can do what I do and get a gorgeous cover up and never take it off LOL
