My husband and I got in a stupid fight last week

[private]Over swimsuits.

He thinks I should be wearing this one (you have a great body, yadda yadda, blah blah, flatter, flatter, hope we have sex later)

In black and polka dots:

Inside my head I hear: You have a great body for a 31 year old, with one child and no boobs.

I was almost sold on it. Then he says something utterly stupid and reminds me I will be wearing this in front of my father all summer in his pool.  Nothing like putting on a tiny bikini in front of your dad. Its just weird.  Now I want a one piece. I found a cute one at the Tommy Hilfiger outlet.

I put it on, I think its cute.

He says: “you look short and stubby in it”.

Dude. I am short. Hi, I’m your 5 foot tall wife, nice to meet you.

Now I have no swimsuit. I can be short and stubby or boobless and half nude.

I am thinking of ordering this one:

To be honest, I’m thinking of just going with a tank top and a pair of shorts at this point. The girls on the Victorias Secret website make me want to  simultaneously slit my wrists and puke on myself.

I vote for the black one. Very classy and sexy.

  2. Ashley says:

I vote for a tankini that wraps around your neck. I have big thighs and no boobs and it’s the style that flatters me most. I try to get a good v-neck one with flattering colors. Good luck! Oh, and I just found out that we share the same birthday- Happy Birthday!!!

  3. Rebekah says:

As a bigger breasted girl, can I just say the small booby look is totally in right now. And, why not go with a tankini? That way you can show your hubby 2-3 inches of belly skin, and not be embarrassed in front of you dad? Victoria’s secret has some awesome ones, and I can attest that anything from the miracle bra line, really is miraculous, because my girls big as they are definitely like to head south in the summertime …

  4. Ahhh, the swimsuit issue. I have to admit, I do not have one, either. Not on purpose but it serves me well.

Men! Challenge your hubby. I’ll wear the black polka dot one if you wear a tiny little speedo. Let me know what he says. I bet you win this one.

Option: Buy 2. One he likes and one you like.

  6. Husbands can be such idiots. After 3 kids I told mine my bikini days are over. My husband actually told me I should be wearing a thong, rofl! When we “go on vacation without the kids” of course. Like that will ever happen! It’s been 7 years and no vacation yet. And I wouldn’t have ever worn a thong suit 8 years ago, BEFORE having kids. Duh. Some stuff just needs to be covered in public. Even nice booties shaking around on a beach or in a pool are just yuck unless you are madly in love and ALONE.
Men. Like they’d show up on the beach in banana hammocks, right?
You should wear what makes YOU feel good.

  7. Andrea H says:

I wouldn’t wear a bikini in front of my dad either. I think if you like the second one and it feels good to you, you should choose it. Maybe get the bikini to wear just for your hubby on vacation?

  8. Courtney says:

That one piece is totally hot! And if you can even consider wearing that tiny bikini, you can totally pull off the one piece. It’s cut is very flattering. I would wear it, but my ginormo boobs would not fit in it. And yes, Land’s End does have some great swimsuits if you want another option.

  9. Heather says:

    Ahhh….the joys of swimsuit shopping….torture!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Trisha, have you checked out the swim suits on Land’s End’s website?? I ordered one off there for our spring break trip to Florida and I LOVE it! I needed an extra long torso suit (which they have – along with short torso ones)…it’s GREAT!! Check out their site if you haven’t already!! Good luck with the horrendous task of choosing a bathing suit!

  11. That one piece is cute. And I couldn’t do the whole bikini thing in front of my Dad either. EEEEWWWW! But don’t you need a bathing suit to wear on your cruise?

  12. MiaHysteria says:

I’d have the same issue with wearing revealing things in front of my dad. It’s weird on a weird level. Yep. Totally get it. You probably wouldn’t look stubby. Your hubs just said it hoping to steer you towards the one that leaves nothing to anyone’s imagination.

  13. I like the black one, but I wouldn’t be able to wear it because my boobs would be flopping out of it!

I’m short too (5’3″) and ALWAYS feel short and stumpy in a swimsuit, no matter what! :(

  14. HedgeHog says:

I don’t really see the big deal wearing it in front of your dad. Not like he looks at you inappropriately. Anyway either swim suit is cute. I would say wear it while you can. Also, the Victoria Secret models are airbrushed and taken in the best lighting possible. Just because they are taller doesn’t mean much to me. Lots of shorter women have nice figures and look beautiful.

  15. Okay if you can look good in that swim suit (the second one) I think you are a rock star!!! Maybe it is just me but I always hate how I look my in a swim suit.
