I wanted to say, on my own little spot of the world that no one else can regulate (and longer than 140 freaking characters), that I don’t find any of this Nestle crap attacking bloggers appropriate.
The message has been lost by those that were trying to advocate a true issue. I would be furious if I was trying to get out information on a cause and this was the result. I mean, come on, a race issue? Pathetic.
Fight the marketing, the practices, propaganda, big business, big brother, blah freaking blah, but I get totally turned off when personal attacks become acceptable against other women that we all should collectively stand beside.
Are those 30 bloggers really changing the course of the entire freaking universe by attending and checking out the background of a company?
Well, maybe.
If we let them.
And trust them.
And give them enough credit to think for themselves and ask questions and be supportive of them representing as women and as bloggers. Because judging by the history of all the allegations, I can pretty much tell you that the past 50 years has done nothing.
Instead, its one big outburst where lots of community members are being hounded and attacked -publicly I might add- and it just puts innocent people on the defensive instead of focusing on the light of the issue.
I’m sorry, call me insensitive, but I seriously don’t wake up every day thinking about Nestle selling formula and bad ‘business practices’ from a boycott stemming from 1977 and a lawsuit from 2005. And I certainly dont consider if another human being shows up to a blogger function at said company.
I’m going to hell.
Maybe Walmart is hiring …

Oh, and for the record, if you leave me a nasty comment telling me I am racist for pointing out that we should leave the bloggers out of it, I will do this to you. Make my day.

I posted my rant about a Taco Bell ad but I wouldn’t bash another person for eating there. I think we all rant about companies from time to time. But if we all boycotted every company out there that we or a fellow blogger didn’t like, we’d have to start farming and give up the internet.
Tiffany-
We call can’t be hamstrung by something that happened 32 years ago. Also, what’s wrong with visiting a company to see that they are about?
Thank you for supporting us, Trisha. The difference between you and the naysayers on Twitter is that you actually know us. You rock, girlie.
Yeah, I was out of town for it and was trying to understand both sides of the story. But I had to wade through all the attacks to actually find a real point of view. Great post as always!
it was making me crazy, every time i went on twitter and saw the attacks against my friends who were at the nestle family thing. i couldn’t believe how crazy out of line some of our fellow bloggers were. really, shameful.
once again, great post.

I haven’t read any of the other comments, but I will say, what a bummer to come home to after the high of Type A Mom.
I ofcourse have no idea what’s going on – Perhaps I should start to pay attention to stuff like this – but I agree pissing all over someone else is lame.
I was saddened that mom bloggers decided to go to an event such as this but then again I was saddened when I saw Walmart Moms, Frito Lay Moms, Kraft Moms, Johnson & Johnson Moms… it seems a large group of influental mom bloggers have put a for sale sign on their forhead. MOST of the products pushing for mom blogger support are bad for your health or they are just a bad company. They want to USE the mom bloggers to influence other moms and the moms are allowing it, in exchange for booty. I would have no issue with it if the companies and products were ethical and good but that is not what we are seeing. I guess the ethical companies don’t have the money to whine and dine.
I don’t think the bloggers deserved to be attacked but they should face up to the tough questions.. aka WHY are you letting a company like Nestle label you one of their “family”. And of course it is a stretch to believe that break and bake cookies and Nestle Quik add value to our lives and deserve the attention of blog readers.
attacking bloggers is lame–period. Thanks for the post Trisha!
