Nestle Family Blogger Drama
I wanted to say, on my own little spot of the world that no one else can regulate (and longer than 140 freaking characters), that I don’t find any of this Nestle crap attacking bloggers appropriate.
The message has been lost by those that were trying to advocate a true issue. I would be furious if I was trying to get out information on a cause and this was the result. I mean, come on, a race issue? Pathetic.
Fight the marketing, the practices, propaganda, big business, big brother, blah freaking blah, but I get totally turned off when personal attacks become acceptable against other women that we all should collectively stand beside.
Are those 30 bloggers really changing the course of the entire freaking universe by attending and checking out the background of a company?
Well, maybe.
If we let them.
And trust them.
And give them enough credit to think for themselves and ask questions and be supportive of them representing as women and as bloggers. Because judging by the history of all the allegations, I can pretty much tell you that the past 50 years has done nothing.
Instead, its one big outburst where lots of community members are being hounded and attacked -publicly I might add- and it just puts innocent people on the defensive instead of focusing on the light of the issue.
I’m sorry, call me insensitive, but I seriously don’t wake up every day thinking about Nestle selling formula and bad ‘business practices’ from a boycott stemming from 1977 and a lawsuit from 2005. And I certainly dont consider if another human being shows up to a blogger function at said company.
I’m going to hell.
Maybe Walmart is hiring …

Oh, and for the record, if you leave me a nasty comment telling me I am racist for pointing out that we should leave the bloggers out of it, I will do this to you. Make my day.

Tiffany-
We call can’t be hamstrung by something that happened 32 years ago. Also, what’s wrong with visiting a company to see that they are about?
Thank you for supporting us, Trisha. The difference between you and the naysayers on Twitter is that you actually know us. You rock, girlie.
Yeah, I was out of town for it and was trying to understand both sides of the story. But I had to wade through all the attacks to actually find a real point of view. Great post as always!
it was making me crazy, every time i went on twitter and saw the attacks against my friends who were at the nestle family thing. i couldn’t believe how crazy out of line some of our fellow bloggers were. really, shameful.
once again, great post.

I haven’t read any of the other comments, but I will say, what a bummer to come home to after the high of Type A Mom.
I ofcourse have no idea what’s going on – Perhaps I should start to pay attention to stuff like this – but I agree pissing all over someone else is lame.
I was saddened that mom bloggers decided to go to an event such as this but then again I was saddened when I saw Walmart Moms, Frito Lay Moms, Kraft Moms, Johnson & Johnson Moms… it seems a large group of influental mom bloggers have put a for sale sign on their forhead. MOST of the products pushing for mom blogger support are bad for your health or they are just a bad company. They want to USE the mom bloggers to influence other moms and the moms are allowing it, in exchange for booty. I would have no issue with it if the companies and products were ethical and good but that is not what we are seeing. I guess the ethical companies don’t have the money to whine and dine.
I don’t think the bloggers deserved to be attacked but they should face up to the tough questions.. aka WHY are you letting a company like Nestle label you one of their “family”. And of course it is a stretch to believe that break and bake cookies and Nestle Quik add value to our lives and deserve the attention of blog readers.
attacking bloggers is lame–period. Thanks for the post Trisha!
[hands over eyes] lalalalalala – tell me when it’s over.
I totally agree! Why attack other bloggers just for going to the company’s headquarters? I don’t get this whole drama filled situation so I’ve stayed far, far away!
I have no idea what ya’ll are talking about. I’ve had my head buried in the books lately (started back to school in August).
I’ve seen a little about this, and honestly, people need to get a life! I saw someone’s post saying that people that don’t breastfeed hate their kids and their kids are malnourished, this and that. Well I have 2 kids that I did NOT breastfeed. I love them with every bit of my heart and they are healthy and happy. They were also both always in the 90-100 percentile as babies and toddlers, so I’m pretty sure they’re healthy too! Great post!
Holy Moly! It sounds like I missed some big hubbabaloo today on Twitter…but from what you’ve written in your post, Trisha, it may not be good for my mood. So, hmm. never mind.
Thank you!!!
Thank you Trisha. You made a good point and said it in ways that I cannot. The whole thing just made me pissed as hell.
As usual, I have no clue what you’re talking about. I’m obviously out of the loop, but very curious. Can you point me to some info about what you’re discussing?
Connie
Thank you for this post, trisha! I appreciate the support more than you know.
I’m with Kim What the … did I miss this time. It will probably be 3-4 days before I can peice together all the posts to figure it out
always in the dark.
LOL on the other post showing a cowards house. I googled my house once n saw the car parked in the drive way Freeked me out when I could actaully see my neighbors face standing in the street next to his car. That site is super cool
Hey can you do my house just so I can see it before the “Great Floods of Georgia?”
Great Post your the best!!
Seems like today is a good day for me to be out of the loop.
LMAO Good post. I feel so bad for Sheila because she is getting the ire of this when I tweeted about oompa loompas as well.
This whole thing is ridiculous. Charges of institutional racism in 2009, when we have a black president (oh wait, he’s only half…), from people who are A) not black and B) not even Americans.
Color me gobsmacked.
Trisha , I totally agree with you ! You know I’m starting to wonder about things . I thought I left high school years ago ! Some people feed on drama and I think that bloggers bashing bloggers is distasteful! We are all here to do the same thing spread the word of what ever it is. As always another great post !
Unfortunately some folks don’t have anything better to do. If they were busy with their own business they wouldn’t be butting into other’s. As my Mama always said, if you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all. What are these adults {cough} teaching their kids?? It’s sad… Thanks Trisha:)
Ok, I’m on my best behavior (because my lawn is dead & my yard needs to be cleaned up). Now you’ve got me even more curious as to what the hell this is about! Reasearch time…
Trisha I love your way with words. I wish other people knew how to get their point across. I also wish they knew how to EDUCATE the people with DECENCY. I am a very open minded person. Put something controversial in front of me and I will strive to educate myself on BOTH sides of the story. Then I will make up my own mind about it. But when I see one side acting immature and downright nasty, my mind seems to shut off to their side. They make themselves look like complete morons who have to bully others to get their point across.
Well said Gena – I saw something negative and just shut the whole thing out. I don’t care if people disagree and blog about it or tweet, whatever. But there are good ways to get your point across without making others look or feel bad. It is like a bully at school who has to make others look bad so they will look good – unfortunately for them – the rest of us actually grew up.
What did I do before I met you? All this interest and I only chatted with you for a bit…who knew! If today was your last day, you would know you’d been entirely authentic and honest. How many others can say the same? That’s your biggest gift Tricia, no matter what the topic or opinion, you model true authenticity. Its good =)
People will always find something to be nit picky and attack, it’s just ridiculous people were then being PERSONALLY attacked.
See, i dont care if people attack nestle or a business, etc. But attacking fellow bloggers is even a line I dont cross.
That’s what I don’t understand Trisha. The personal attacks on other people. You should focus on YOUR side of the story and showing us the holes in the other side. Not attacking others for not immediately bowing down to you.
