Now what do I do?

Holy Caterpillar on a stick! It’s a Christmas Miracle.

The damn thing unthawed.

[flashvideo filename="videos/cater.flv" width="448" height="361" /]

upgradedI have no further plan. Although I did figure out what kind it is.

It turns into this moth. Do I keep it?

I upgraded its living quarters for the moment.

I didn’t exactly think this out very well, did I?

  1. I would say keep the friendly little critter so you can see the miracle of the transformation ;)

  2. Ashley says:

Awww, you saved it. It’s a Christmas Miracle! I say keep it and watch it’s transformation . . .

  3. Deborah says:

It might be a good idea to put it in something other than metal. Most creatures don’t like the feel of metal. A glass jar would be better.

  4. Firefly says:

I’ve missed so many of your posts it will take me a week to catch up! But that thing looks well I really don’t know how to put it. I’m impressed that you got to save it. I didn’t know they can survive after freezing!

  5. Robin G says:

I don’t know what they are really called, but we always called those Wooly Bear caterpillars.

  6. brandy says:

Oh how funny! I have no help with it but looks fun lol.

  7. That is so cool. I asked my son what to do he did this is school last year. If you put him in a container with leaves and sticks at room temps he will then do the transfer . There food is the leaves in the home !

    GOod Luck

  8. nicole says:

I’ve no clue either. Are there any local entomologists? Perhaps they could tell you. I think its very sweet that you rescued the little bugger!

  9. Stefanie says:

LOL I have no clue either. Have you searched on google to see if you can find anything out?

I love the ‘Ahh ahh…don’t touch me!’ before you started petting him! lol ;)

  10. LMAO. Ah Ah Don’t touch me!

    It’s a miracle lmao.

  11. Golfersmom says:

So glad that it lived. Charlotte is going to be so excited when she gets home. Cant wait to see what she says about it.

  12. mommy23monkeys says:

aawww…it’s SO cute!! That is amazing that it survived the freeze.

  13. LMAO!! I laughed out loud at your “AHH! AHH!” when you were holding the stick. LOL!

Is it wrong to want to yell “It’s alive… ALIVE!!!” lol

  14. Lisa p says:

OMG thats why insects can survive like an ice age freaky!

  15. EWWW, it’s one of those moths that has a face. EEEEWWWW

I hate those things. They freak me out.

Keep it until it makes it’s chrysalis and then put it outside.

  16. erin says:

I dunno what to do now. My sister has a butterfly house – but that wont help you now. LOL. Good luck and it was a very sweet thing you did.

  17. Susan says:

That is just crazy I tell ya!!

  18. Lynsey Jones says:

Hahaha, told ya! I would keep it – I mean, it will just freeze again if you put him outside. They have those butterfly habitat garden thingies at Target… I was actually thinking of getting Sami one…

  19. What the heck? Maybe he was just playing dead?

  20. Brittany says:

LOL No clue on what you are supposed to do with Caterpillars. Does Charlotte know?

    • Trisha-admin says:

she is still at school but she is going to be excited. We carried it-stiff-to a bush today and covered it up.

When i got home i took it in the house cause i felt so bad. I didnt really think it would work.

      How interesting!
