lt30007-rebelflameskullNow, I promised you an Only In Alabama this week that was sure to be the “Mother” of all Only in Alabamas and I am here to deliver. Now it does have a backstory. I rarely take or pick up Charlotte from school. My lovely DH does it on his way to work to save gas and to let me be lazy in the morning. Then on the way home for lunch, he picks her back up. I know, I am spoiled.

But the other day he had a meeting and I took Charlotte. On my way to pick her up, I was boxed into the parking lot. This generally happens when morons decide to park and turn off their car next to each other to go get their kids and don’t use the parking spots. While the parking lot is small and limited, it doesn’t matter if one is open, they still park and leave.

And inevitably, the person who goes in will stay for 15 minutes while you wait…. so while I was waiting, boxed in, I was taking pictures of the Fish guy across the street. Yes, he is directly across the street from my daughters school.

Then a lady comes out of Charlotte’s school with a girl from Charlotte’s class, so she is also Charlotte’s age, about 4. Mom is on a cell phone and smoking. Daughter gets in front seat of truck, mom gets in and sits another 4 minutes on the phone while I sit there, wondering if I should hit the back of her car with mine to get her moving, and I notice little girl bouncing around the front seat. Now, I am not for kids in the front seat, isn’t it illegal? But if I only had a truck I would of course have a car seat.

This girl was hanging in and out of the window so long I remembered I had my camera. Then I saw moms break lights. SURELY she was not going to drive off with 4 year old hanging OUT the truck window? No carseat, no seat belt. I grabbed my camera and got like 2 seconds before the camera died.

And you know what? SHE DID.

What you see in this video was what this girl did till the main light down the street. Unfortunately my camera died because I didn’t bring my memory card and it was full from fish guy pictures already. But even the brief moment in this video (and you can see the tail lights starting up for her leaving) just know that this goes on, out the parking lot, onto the main road, and up to the four way intersection before the mom even put down the cell phone and noticed her daughter wasn’t even sitting DOWN.
