So you may want to grab some popcorn.
If you feel the need to trash my child, my husband, or me personally, you are not welcome into our discussion.
We would appreciate you watching so you can stop listening to false renditions of our own post.

I love you, Trisha!!! Great job. I may just embed this video on my blog for my newest visitors to see. LOL
And did some “journalist” (I use that term loosely, as well) say something about Charlotte or Chris? Or was it the C|NET chick you were referring to?
The mean girls from High School are back. And this time they have sponsors to BlogHer!!!!
ROTFLMFAO
Amen! Love this. It’s why I’ll never get into really blogging. I can’t worry about any more people than I already have to, but I have a great deal of love and respect for women who can actually sit down and write a blog post that other people want to read! Maybe all the hatin’ is jealousy. I dunno. Just wanted to say well spoken.
Great vlog, Trisha. I really hope some of the people who are being so nasty about this whole thing will watch and better understand the circumstances of the “PR Blackout.” It’s been so blown out of proportion.
Great video Trisha! I don’t know how all of you have lasted this long. I caved a while back and scaled back on giveaways/reviews. BTW, I love the kitty cats playing around in the background!
I’ll admit, at first, when I read about this, I was pissed. I was like, seriously? WTF? After this vlog, I get it. Totally. I personally don’t do PR (I don’t have enough readers to really get offers anyway), and I don’t know if I would, I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. The problem with the whole reception this has gotten is that for instance, today, I wanted to write the name of my favorite product that I use every day. I felt I couldn’t because I didn’t want to be labeled a “corporate sell out”. And I censored myself because I didn’t want to get any of the nasty backlash. It’s just sad. Anyway, I appreciate you clearing it up Trisha. It makes a lot more sense now.
LOL <3 dooce
Sorry, but I had to LOL @ the “Just try to be a page rank 9.” part.
You’re right. It has gotten blown totally out of proportion. As someone who has pretty much just sat back and watched it all unfold, it’s been interesting. I developed some new opinions of bloggers I’ve read before – some good, some bad. I’ve also had my feelings about some confirmed. This whole “PR Blackout” talk has reminded me of a death in the family in that so many people have shown their true colors.
Thanks for the video, Trisha! I am hoping that this will stop the drama. It has been way too crazy.
I first heard about this when someone tweeted about an article on CNET which was basically against the blackout. Mind you, it was written by a woman who admitted she does NOT frequent mom blogs, is not a mom blogger, and doesn’t have any kids. Then she had the nerve to close the article with “if the mom bloggers are burnt out, maybe they should spend more time with their kids.” WHAT??? Just bizarre. I personally have stayed away from giveaways altogether. I’d heard what a slippery slope they can become and I didn’t think I was organized enough to keep up with it. Eventually I’ll probably do it, but I’d rather take my time.
I think a bigger issue in the mom blog world is women devaluing their own blogs. I think a lot of women are being taken advantage of because, to them, free product sounds so great and amazing. They don’t realize they may deserve more. But perhaps that’s another firestorm for another day!
Thanks for getting the conversation started!
As someone who is BOTH a mommyblogger and a PR professional I agree with you. In doing PR I want people to reivew, but only because I believe in the product and want the people to like it as well. As a mommyblogger, I feel overwhelmed by everything I have to write without the time to just write. Thanks!
The biggest thing is most people WONT watch it…cause its not drama and its not fun if its not full of smearing inflammatory remarks, kwim?
Trisha, excellent post. There are just way too many people that took it, changed it to something else, and freaking ran with it. If anyone wants to discuss blowing things out of proportion, they need to point the fingers elsewhere.
We here all know what the intentions were. Hell, I wasn’t even at Friday Night Live that night and I KNEW what you were discussing and meaning. And yes, I listened
. I had to hear what was said about me and John Cena
Trisha, the vlog is perfect! I think it will come across so much more clearly to those who obviously choose to read into things in their own way. Although, I am not participating in the PR Blackout, only because I don’t deal with PR in my corner of the blogosphere, I support what you are doing 100%!
Hopefully people will take the time to view this and see the real reason behind it:0)
perfectly stated!! I think EVERYONE should listen to this WHOLE thing. Trisha you are 100% backed by all of us! We love you.
Ok first what happened, where and when? Second how much did I miss in 3 days that I’ve been messing and redesigning my site LOL
BTW, my kiddo loves your cats
Trisha, I’m really glad you vlogged this because it came out so much more clear and heartfelt. If they ‘bashers’ can’t see the true meaning behind the PR Blackout from this then they’re only there to stir the pot.
Great job, Trisha! I support you 100%! I haven’t gotten into dealing with PR much yet, but I support you all as you take a much needed break from it all! Keep up the great work…all of you!!
i think it may be too long or have had an interception. It was 10 minutes long. I am reloading to check. I apologize.
I don’t see 1
The vlog won’t load for me.
