Patrick Dempsey and I are likethis

patrick1Last month an ultra interesting opportunity hit my email box….a phone call with Patrick Dempsey. Now I pondered this all of 1.4 seconds before my return email was something like “OMG??!??!? ME???!??!ILL BE THERE!” and waiting for the email return that would say “oh, just kidding, we had the wrong email.”

Instead, Patricks team, partnered with Avon, sent over a bottle of his new cologne, three tester bottles that broke up the smells individually (very cool) and set up a phone call with “influential bloggers” (who told them that I was one?) and along with Steph from Adventures In Babywearing, Kim from Jogging In Circles, Janice from 5 Minutes for Mom, Amy from ParentSphere, Arianne from To Think Is To Create, Michelle from Scribbit, Beth from I Should Be Folding Laundry, Katja from Skimbaco Lifestyle, and Maria from BSM Media/BlueSuitMom, I had the pleasure of preparing for my first ever celebrity interview.

There were also many other magazines on the phone call and I have to say, I was a bit jealous of Cosmo who asked the type of personal question that we would have probably been disconnected over. Not that I could imagine asking Patrick what cologne he wears to bed or anything, but hey, a reader patrick23has to know, right? We would have been willing to ask the hard questions.

When we found out that we were going to be able to ask him a question, we came to our readers and we chose a user proposed question, which was:

Did you find any similarities in the creative process between being Dr. McDreamy and developing Unscripted? Any differences?

We wanted to ask him if he still delivers anchovy pizzas, but they prescreened our questions….so we figured we better not risk getting hung up on. I wish I could tell you his answer. We are pretty sure it was brilliant. I think I blacked out between him telling hi to me until the time I cut him off thinking he was done talking. Yes. I cut him off. There is a tad delay on conference calls and he paused and I told him thank you for your time…in the middle of his sentence. Oh well, I’m not a professional.

One thing that struck me during the call was how well prepared he was to answer all the questions. I got the sense that this wasn’t just another Paris Hilton introducing a cologne to the market, but an actual person who was involved in every aspect of creating a cologne that he would not only wear, but be proud to put his name to. Patrick was well versed in all the elements of the flavors of the cologne, the marketing, and the steps from beginning to end.

  • Top notes: Black Peppercorn, Caradamom
  • Heart notes: Voilet Leaves, Sensual Fig, Crisp Lavender
  • Base notes: Leatherwood, Patchouli, Musk

I liked  it so much, that we gave a bottle out as a Christmas gift this year!

I also loved how flattering he was as a husband to his wife. She works for Avon as the company’s global creative colour director since 2006 and is a celebrity makeup artist. I cant imagine my husband I working together every day. I would be like…no, I can do it better, no I can do better, no me…so kudos to them on a marriage that can make it through work as well.

prod_1054105_lgBut I did get a chance to ask him a SECOND question, making us one of only two blogs that spoke with him twice…and that is why we are likethis. I asked him if he had plans to develop a more female version perfume. They say that Unscripted can be worn as a man or woman, but having smelled it, I have to say that I believe its more tailored around a man. Not that that is a bad thing…I love the way a man smells. Provided he has brushed his teeth and taken a shower in the past 24 hours. I am actually not even a girly girl, I wear mens cologne all the time. But there is definitely a sector of the population of women that want to wear a sweeter perfume.

I am pretty sure he told me that that was a good question…and that I was hot.

Wha?

Ok, your right, I threw that last part in. But I am sure if he came here, he would say that. Except he is married.

He also said something about how bloggers are important, etc but we already know that. We pat ourselves on our backs all the time. Its about time you celebrities recognized how cool we are. Now, Patrick, want to come over for dinner? I can make you some boiled eggs!

One of the best parts was also listening to all the other bloggers on the call. I read so many of these blogs and talk with these girls on twitter, and hearing their voices just reminded me how exciting BlogHer was going to be. The call gave us a bit of sisterhood and joined us at the virtual hip all day while we relished in the call, twittered up a storm (later finding out that Patrick was reading our shenanigans online while it was going on), and even went into a Skype chat to rehash off our Unscripted high.

The only thing that would have made this more fun, was an in person interview. We think that Avon needs to set that up…we can VLOG it complete with video interaction. Think organic campaign. Hey, send him to BlogHer!!! Don’t you agree? He would probably need security if let lose amongst 1000 bloggers for the weekend. But it sure would make twitter fun that day.

LUCKY YOU! Patrick and Avon have generously donated a bottle of Unscripted cologne to a lucky reader ($32) and we are going to LIVE it out at 8pm central tonight. So be back here for that!~

They have also offered a Free Shipping code if you dont win here, but want to get some for yourself..hurry, it expires at the end of the month!

Promo Code – JINGLE30

Expires – 1/31/09

See yall tonight for your chance to win!

Hubby actually got home early and the grocery store was a quick trip for a change… woo hoo!!! We’re doing games and supper is cooking now, so by 8 o’clock the kids should be happy playing on their own.

Aw, he IS a sweetheart, isn’t he? He is definitely a favorite neighbor of my mom’s and all of her friends (and random people who find out exactly how close their houses are…). You should see him on his ChrisCraft wood boat and shirtless on the lake…

    @ Cat @ 3KidsnUs:

You’re joking, right? Please tell me you really do know who Patrick Dempsey is! If you grew up in the 80’s, you may remember him as the nerdy-turned-cool-kid in “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

As well as Grey’s Anatomy, Ella Enchanted, Lucky 7, Sweet Home Alabama, et.all.

Tracye’s last blog post..This will probably be a long one, so I’ll apologize now.

He was in Made of Honor (which I just watched last night), on Grey’s Anatomy, the rich finance on Sweet Home Alabama. I hope one of those helps you figure out who he is.

I’ll hopefully be back at 8!
