It has been brought to my attention that a participant is sending out letters and asking for votes in the Peoples Choice Award-which is perfectly fine! But in this email they are also stating they would sell the product and split the proceeds for a vote.
Come on people, have some integrity.
While I made the rule that “any” method was OK, (as in tweeting, begging, etc) after some investigation online, MomDot believes what this person is doing is federally illegal and borderlines lottery rules. It’s also a bit against common sense. I mean, how would you split anything with anyone…what, everyone gets 10cents? LOL
Bloggers and Tiaras is supposed to be a fun contest and the extra prize was intended to reward participants and give them some friendly competition to rally their own online communities behind them. Since I don’t want to give the impression that I am condoning that behavior, I am going to have to pull the voting contest.
Before anyone complains, please know that I can do anything I want if I feel like something is illegal or cheating. However, at this time I am going to give the person that sent the email the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t know they were doing something illegal and not disqualify them from random pull.
I will just consider it a bad judgment call on their part and hopefully a lesson learned for everyone.
I appreciate all the time everyone has put into soliciting votes, but the bracelet will be pulled out of a little bowl with everyone’s names inside. I hope this is a fair solution.
Hey..at least you cant call me Meghan.

Wow I never imagined this kind of thing could happen. If Marsha is correct that she was joking, which I could totally see something being taken the wrong way in an e-mail, shoot I could totally see me saying something jokingly like that and not realizing it being taken wrong. Anyways I think it’s being handled fairly. I also think all the of the contestants I’ve seen so far seem like fair and reasonable people that are just out to have some fun.
But in this email they are also stating they would sell the product and split the proceeds for a vote.
I received the aforementioned email and have to say that I knew RIGHT AWAY that she was totally kidding! I’ve read her msg several times and still cannot see how anyone took it to be otherwise.
I’m sorry that someone took her tone or words completely out of the context and did not see the spirit in which it was written.
Anyway, I just felt compelled to set the record straight on this. There is no need for whomever the winner is or for any of the participants in this contest to have negative feelings or anger or outrage of any sort.
It’s too bad that the person who was offended in the first place didn’t go to her privately for clarification.
It’s too bad that one person who doesn’t know how to just have fun had to ruin it for the rest of us–but, I respect your decision and it IS the only fair one! I was so disappointed when another blogger brought this to my attention, and I realized it was going on within this contest.
I think your decision was an excellent one and more than fair.
It’s not me…I have a sad three votes : (
well leave it to the bad apples, but I appreciate you have INTEGRITY and making it fair for everyone! Your right this about having fun thaks for the hard work
Bummer! I have been doing alot of begging around my neck of the woods. But it is only fair. I just wanted to say great work to the ladies who were top 3. You were really blowing us off the charts with those numbers.
Thank you Alba! I worked my tail off getting those votes. You know those comments for the giving back mission? I visited way over 100 new blogs and asked for votes only after I commented on their blog and they commented on mine. I asked every single person I knew on facebook and my mom, dad and family all asked their friends. It was ridiculous, but I tell you what – it was FUN! I made new blog friends from all my hopping, my blog traffic doubled and I was able to talk to my mom about something we both agreed on for once. So even though the rules are changed, I call this a total success
I wasn’t in the contest but I still think it stinks that one person should spoil it for everyone who was working to hard for their honest votes. What you are doing is the only fair way to resolve this situation. I wish all of the contestents good luck.
Somebody clue me in. What’s the Meghan crack all about?
I think that’s totally fair – but bizarre that it even happened – let’s just have some fun ladies!
Yes, we most definitely CAN NOT call you Meghan, lol. I applaud you for investigating and making things right. It’s better to do it now than to have it on your shoulders later. At least this makes it fair for everyone. Thanks Trisha.
ROTFLMFAO at “at least you can’t call me Meghan”!!!! OMG that was funny.
It sucks that somebody did this and all the people that have voted for us all don’t count anymore, but this way I have a better chance at winning the bracelet because my vote tally sucked eggs. LOL
I think you may have to rename the award though. Or not.
That sounds like a fair solution, I kinda felt bad having to vote for one person over the other anyways.
I’m making the choice for it to all end here for me. I’m pretty disgusted that someone did that. I earned every single one of my votes fairly. The way I thought we all should.
Those that continue, I truly wish you the best of luck!
That seems fair, but it’s a shame it had to happen. I feel sorry for those who had worked hard to get votes (I didn’t).
Oh that’s sad that it happened but sounds like great idea to keep it fair and such..
I think its a good idea, just so that everything stays fair!
“Megan” *snort*
Sounds good to me!
What a shame it had to come to this…
