Pinked Out: The Stroller Hunt (Update)

banner_215x1251Hi everyone, It’s Kristy here, from Mommy In Pink.  I come to you today with an unfortunate report on my “Stroller Hunt” from last week! I was all ready with credit card in hand and super excited to purchase my very first jogging stroller. After all, this was going to be a BIG moment for me!

I’m sad to say, that moment got cut severely short. Since this was a relatively big purchase, I had to clear it with my husband first, who flat out said “No.” He continued to tell me that due to economic downturn (Duh), we have to be careful on how much we are spending these days! Well, he does have a point there, but I really, really want one! Does that sound too bratty? I can’t help it though. Maybe it’s that impulsive side of me, that when I see something I like, I’ve just got to have it!

See, and I thought I was getting a killer deal, but “Deal or No Deal,” he says…”No Frivolous Spending!” Well, I guess that solves that then! Maybe I shouldn’t tell him about my secretive runs to Starbucks this week that added up to at least $20 or more dollars. Or the $50 I spent on more pink cloth diapers for the baby. Who can resist such cute little pink diapers anyways? It was a purchase of necessity I tell you! But something tells me I won’t be able to sweet talk my way out of the coffee purchases.

So I pose this question: Where can I find a FREE jogging stroller? I’m totally joking of course, but that would be nice, a girl can dream can’t she? I guess I’ll be jogging with my baby in the sling then…wouldn’t that be a site to see?
Until next time…

If you’re interested in a BOB jogging stroller, they have a contest on their website to win one every month :)

  2. I have a triplet jogging stroller for sale because I realized a fatal flaw in the design. WHO JOGS WITH THREE BABIES!?!?!?!?

If I’m going for a jog, I’m going it alone!

My neighbor and I swapped goods. I took her jogging stroller and she took our backpack. Perfect! We’ll switch back at a later time! :)

You remind me of the book, Shopoholic and Baby — LOL! Only she referred to them as “prams.”

I thought the same thing when I was reading it. :)

Are you on freecycle? I just scored a like new Jeep Wagoneer LE Double stroller for FREE!

  9. You remind me of the book, Shopoholic and Baby — LOL! Only she referred to them as “prams.”

Sorry about that, but I have to agree with your dh. Hope you can kick the starbucks habit, that is expensive.

I’d check out garage sales and second hand stores. You just never know…

    Husbands suck sometimes… economic downturn…whatever.

  12. Shannon says:

If you live in Texas I have one i am not using :) . If not, try freecycle or Craigslist for sure!

  13. My mother in law bought us one when we were like 12 weeks pregnant at a garage sale…you can’t even tell it was ever used!

There are a ton of consignment sales around here in the spring, not sure if you have them, but there are THREE in the next 2 weeks within 20 miles of me. You can find great stuff for practically no money! If you consign any of your stuff, you might be able to even out….the dh would like that!

  14. Sorry about the stroller. We are in a no spending period too. It is hard. :(

  15. I would do Craigs List. Is there one for your area? You can post in the wanted section.

  16. Good luck with your search. If ya find a tree growing them can you send one my way too :-) These hips could use it.

Post on your local freecycle site that you’re looking for a jogging stroller. I’ve seen much more frivolous requests on there. Who knows, someone may just have one they’re looking to be rid of. You never know. Also, if you have a Once Upon a Child or a good thrift store, check them out. Find things around the house you don’t need to list on Craigslist or Ebay to make some of your own cash and put it towards a 2nd hand stroller if you can. That’s what I did for a lot of our baby stuff. Sometimes I found almost new items in the 2nd hand stores and at yard sales. I couldn’t justify lots of money on our 2nd because he was our last with my complications, but we didn’t have any of the cool gear with our first, and I wanted at least a few things we didn’t have the first time. My hubby won’t argue with 2nd hand or yard sale items.
