Quiznos Torpedo Commercial

quiznosI see this commercial probably 5 times a day around here. It comes on in the day and at night, on a variety of different channels.

“Put it in me, Scott”

“I want you to do something for me”

The whole  sexual innuendo (this is where The Todd says “in your endo”) is honestly too much for a sub commercial. Is this what Charlotte has to grow up with? Products so desperate for attention they throw any sexual overtones on it to try and sell it? I am not turned on. I am not impressed. I am not even interested in purchasing this.

I cant imagine saying to my DH “Honey, you know what sounds good right now? A big meaty torpedo”.

And then he says “You’re right, I was just thinking about putting a 1 foot torpedo in me.”

I’m going to go hurl now.

Well I finally had to call the 1-720-359-3300 number, the operator forwarded me to voice mail for guest relations. She just asked that we leave I leave my name and phone number so they could contact me back, but it also leaves enough time so you can give a message too. I let them know that the “Put it in me Scott” commercial was in bad taste. That it shouldn’t be aired on TV stations meant for children, nor when children would be awake. I told them it left me a bad taste in my mouth. I also let them know that several moms on the internet were blogging about it and were upset, so that they should be expected more complaints. I didn’t give me. You can’t leave me on hold forever and think I’ll give up.

  2. Lauralee Hensley says:

Well, I’ve been on hold now about 9 minutes. I don’t think they want to hear from the consumer. Probably better to contact TV stations to get some results.

  3. Lauralee Hensley says:

Well I just got a notice that my delivery to comments@quiznos.com failed. So I’m going to call them. I don’t know maybe it is suppose to be commentsatquiznos.com instead of comments@quiznos.com.
In either way I’m not giving up.

  4. HeatherMama says:

My husband and I have discussed these commercials too.

    “Put it in me Scott”
“Wipe me down again” and then “Oh not again, I got burned last time”

Thats no way to sell a sandwich!

I remember when Aspercreme had a little jingle that went “You bet your sweet Aspercreme”. Ok I thought THAT was funny. The next time I heard it, it had been changed to “You can bet if its Aspercreme”. So a play on words was changed because people might be offended by the reference to the word “ass”, but Scott and the oven can “put it in”? Crazy.

There is also a short infomercial right now for the Slap Chop. (Same guy from the ShamWow) and he is grating cheeses and says “fettuccini, linguini, matini, bikini”, I giggled but was like, why even add that in?? But THEN he goes to talking about nut toppings for ice cream and he says “You’re gonna love my nuts”. Hubby and I just look at each other and are like OMG he did NOT just say that! But um yeah, he did!

I just went to there website, there wasn’t a way to contact them listed except by phone. I called 1-720-359-3300, they are asking that we send comments to them by emailing
comments@quiznos.com but we can also call 1-720-359-3300 and ask for customer service. I am going to go and leave a comment via email. Make sure you tell them you don’t want your children seeing or being exposed to this and what channels you’ve seen it on, e.g. Noggin Nickelodeon. Tell them if they continue to air this it should be after children are in bed, if you feel this way.
Well, I’m going to go and email them. We can make a difference.

I haven’t seen this commercial. I think I’d be grossed out. Wouldn’t want the kiddos to be exposed to it either. We really don’t watch alot of TV, so in a way I’m glad. I don’t think it’s funny, it’s in bad taste, or rather it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Think I’ll have to stick to Subways, unless they jump on this bandwagon too. Have you sent Quiznos an email to their corporate office letting them know you think the commercial is in bad taste, or that it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. If alot of moms did, I bet they’d pull the commercial.

  7. Claire says:

Whhhaaatttt!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just watched that & I was NOT expecting that..

    WOW.

I wonder how long til the backlash gets too much & they pull that off the air..

  8. Yeah, I saw this commercial. Want to know where? It was on Noggin (Nickelodeon) during one of my 4 year old’s shows. I was not amused. This is disgusting. Truly. A couple of years ago they edited a commercial for body lotion because it showed a child running a toy car along his mother’s side while she was laying down, but they let this get on the air?

I just think that this has gone too far. I am not homophobic or a prude or anything, I just feel like this particular “marketing campaign” has crossed a line.

I just showed this to my husband and even he thinks it’s crude (and that’s saying something!) He suggested we write letters to Quiznos regarding this. I think it’s a great idea and we should also “cc” the major networks.

Oh and I really don’t care who wants to have sex with what or when or where, I just DON’T want to see or hear about it on my TV! :P

  9. Donna says:

I haven’t seen this commercial before. Wow! But like Christy, we DVR everything. If you wait 15 min. you can start watching and just fast forward through the commercials. :)

I don’t remember what we were watching but that commercial came on and one of my roommates found it quite funny (he’s 19), then when he left the room my 13 year old daughter asked me why he was laughing at it. That’s not the conversation I want to be having with any of my kids!!!

It makes me even more grateful to have gotten the DVR with our DirectTv so I can record whatever we want to watch and fast forward through the commercials.

  11. Mojo Celtica says:

That commercial was so foul I stopped eating there.

  12. Chris says:

    @ Trisha-admin:

I have to agree with this position and I am a guy. I am all for the crude humor, but I don’t find these commercials remotely funny. Does anyone else think that “Put it in me Scott” is creepy, not only because it is a machine but because it is a man saying it. I don’t even get the innuendo unless they are trying to reference a gay relationship. If it were a women I would get it more.

And then there is the comment about that was good for both of us. When did it become ok for people to have sexual relationships with machines.

  13. Alicia says:

Ew. This is another reason I am so glad we don’t watch TV. I HATE Commercials. Seriously!! I could be watching a perfectly family-friendly TV show…. and something like THIS will pop on! HELLO!! I agree that this is desperate!

  14. Trisha-admin says:

    @ Max:
Max, if i was 18 and a college student, i would find it funny too. But its not funny when your 4 year old girl is listening to sexual remarks on a commercial. And its not like its 9pm and only plays on HBO. I shouldnt have to screen commercials for a fast food restaurant.

You come visit me in 10 years.

    :-)

We spent the evening last night trying to watch Kings and for every commercial I gave the “Wow that was stupid!” I got so aggravated with the commercials that I stopped watching all together. Isn’t the point to get people’s attention? Not annoy them to death? I’m with Cat. If your commercial is stupid I’m more likely to AVOID your product.

  16. Max says:

I actually love these commercials. I’m an 18 year old college student, and all of my buddies and I thought this commercial was hilarious. Quiznos commercials have always made me laugh – well, not always, but much, much more often than those obnoxious subway commercials that are never funny, always cheesy, and though I don’t mind the food, actually make me begrudge going there.

  17. Michele says:

I’ve become used to the fact that just when you think TV can’t get any worse, it does. We got rid of cable four years ago, in part due to content but also due to it being a time robber and we wanted to improve finances. I think over time we become more conditioned by what we see…I remember watching the occasional “shocker” (equivalent to the Quiznos commercial) and wondering how when that became acceptable, but after seeing another similar commercial or something like that in a sitcom, it’s not surprising anymore. When I see TV now I am floored by what it has become…but I know that, if I watched it all the time, I wouldn’t be. My husband watches “House” when he is on the road and picked up a DVD set so I could see it. I enjoy the plots and dialogue–it is very well-written–but some of those teaser intros of teenagers having sex and leaving little to the imagination…! I’m certainly not a “Kill Your Television” advocate, nor am I a prude, but I do wish there were some boundaries that aren’t crossed on TV simply because I don’t think children should see half of what is out there.

  18. AmandaG says:

I like Quiznos’ subs. MMmmmm…..mesquite chicken with the vinagrette instead of ranch. But these commercials are stupid. You really have to wonder what the advertising people were thinking or if the Quiznos people wee like “No, THIS is what we want in our ads,” and the ad people rolled their eyes and wrote the ad against their better judgment.

  19. Yasmine says:

This isnt the first time Quiznos came out with a commercial with some sexual innuendo- the other wasnt too bad but this went too far IMO. not a big quiznos fan anyways- me love SUBWAY! damnit now i really want subway- at 1:43am :s

there was a new burger commercial that just came out, carls jr? with Padma lakshami(sp?) i wouldnt want my kids watching a lady make out/lick the hell out of a burger.

  20. Honestly, commercials like these make me less likely to purchase from a company. I felt the same way about the commercials Hardees did a few years back with the Jessica Simpson crap in them.
