R. I. P. M. J.

picture-34(<—-yes, its a record…at what point didn’t you realize I’m a loser)

I know it will be revisited by every media outlet, blog, website, and newspaper in the country for the next few weeks, but I did want to post as well.

I hate celebrity news and politics. Both of those things grate my nerves. Actually, if it falls into “news” at all, I cant stand it. We could have a full on World War going on and I wouldn’t know for weeks because I avoid it like the plague.

But for me, while Micheal Jackson was certainly the biggest star in my lifetime and his passing is the ending of a whole generation of music, it also reminds me of my own mortality.

The passing of celebrities in my era are reminding me that some day I too shall pass. That some day my daughter will only have memories of me to share with her kids and some day Ill only have memories of my parents to share with mine.

Whether we have 1 life or 100, this life is the only one we have right now.

I’m glad I spend mine dancing.

And to celebrate the music I grew up with (and btw, I am not a poser, I actually OWN his CDs (and records, cough) already), here are my top #5 favorite MJ songs.

R.I.P., MJ.

~Trisha

1 Billie Jean

2 Scream

3 Smooth Criminal

4 Dirty Diana

5 They Dont Care About Us

I love his background on Rockwell Somebody’s Watching Me

Ok, I lied. I cant leave this one off either. Human Nature.

Make it top #7.

Feel free to share your favorite songs in the comments…and please, be respectful.

(sorry, kadi)

I don’t ever post about happenings in the news but thought the 2 celebrity deaths (both icons in their own right) in 1 day warranted a post. If anyone else posted, I have a linky for ya!

I posted about him (you probably won’t like it) but woven in with the negativity was me admitting that he was an amazing talent. His death is sad, even someone like me with very acute issues with him can feel that. My fave MJ song is Man In The Mirror – it’s one of my fave songs of all time.

Do you know that you have so much value in the record your holding there. Amazon sold out of every piece of Michael Jackson music that they had yesterday, they sold more than they ever sold in the history of Amazon’s existence 11 years put together.

It is definitely the end of a musical era. All I can say about his personal life is that I hope he finally has the peace that eluded him while he was on Earth. Here are my favs MJ songs by album:

    Off the Wall-rock with you
    Thriller-p.y.t.
Bad-way you make me feel and smooth criminal
    Dangerous-remember the time
    HIStory-they don’t care about us
    Invincible-butterflies

Anything from Thriller has got to be my all time favorite from him. He is too talented and I am going to miss him. (Even despite his creepyness.) He was my first celebrity crush. I remember my first ever cassette tape was one of his albums.

Billie Jean was probably mine too. Girl, wanna know how uncool I was? I LOVED MJ when I was a kid and begged my mom for a record player for Christmas. She ended up buying and MJ record player for all three of us girls because we were NOT sharing. Can you imagine the noise in our tiny two bedroom house? lol

    In no particular order…

    1. Man in the Mirror

    2. Black or White

    3. You are not Alone

    4. Smooth Criminal

    5. Don’t stop ’til you get enough

Now I did just purchase his Ultimate Collection…but I am not a poser. I assure you that. Growing up MJ was always there. I was either listening and making videos with friends of us lip syncing or watching his specials on TV. Watching all the girls swoon and faint and feeling a sense of awe. Thinking “Wow”! After yesterday I felt a need to go back to the past. Since it’s been many years. That’s why I just bought the set. RIP MJ!

I think my favorite song would be Beat It and my favorite video would by Thriller. I remember watching that video over and over again when I was little on MTV.
