Selling Your Brand: Mom2Summit

11:23 Conference is about half marketers and half bloggers right now. How do ads become information? As a blogger, you need to be willing to pitch yourself to people and as a marketer, you need to do your research. You can match sponsorship to content. Writing an article about what your readers will be interested in and then match ads and companies to it. (hey, this is one of the girls we were picking on working with Federated Media with Target, lol). Make sure you intertwine your posts with your life so it cant be stolen easily.  Make a little magic.

11:28 Effective product placement “you know it when you see it”. A blogger announced they wanted to visit her readers and was sponsored by Saturn. She visited 250 of her visitors; Bossy’s Excellent Road Trip. Took her 5 weeks and a really seamless integration with the sponsor and the blogger. The other bloggers also wrote posts, and it was a massively successful campaign. Saturn didn’t try to fill something, it embraced something that was already going on and they took a risk that paid off. Standard PR and Social PR. Pitch the companies with things that you are already doing because it may work. (ie we pitched HP, Dyson, Buzzillions)

11:36 Genesis of blogging is documenting natural life. Blog series but not product placement. You can use humor for a marketing message. Take a risk as a marketer with bloggers.

11:38 Talking about blogging all day greatest day in the world they say. Don’t be afraid to ask companies to sponsor. You have an online presence, so form relationships with companies. For example, if someone is wearing a bracelet, you can integrate that into conversations at places like conferences. Pass out the business and card, companies need to use the bloggers and the bloggers need to use the companies. Ex: What preschool do you use, etc. Have companies that back up who you talk about (but of course, MomDot says believe in what you say).

11:41 Lots of blog posts on what to wear to conference. Work with companies regarding what you ARE wearing. Local retailer worked with a blogger in Utah and dressed her for the conference so she talked about it while she is here. Basically walking advertisement. Talk about what YOU want to talk about and products YOU talk about.

11:43 Talking about Walmart Ning site. Woo Hoo! They are giving them props for doing it well.

11:46 Create oppurtunities that makes marketers work for you.

 Lunch time

1:08 Now we are watching a special screen of Yanni Voices. Lots of kids singing. It’s pretty decent, although I have a hard time watching concerts on TV and not being there. The experience isn’t as strong. Yanni is really talented, not that you need me to say that. Listening to a guy sing Opera. I think men have very beautiful voices, almost prettier than women’s voices. Seriously, I need a lesson on than vs then. Someone help. I hate possibly using the wrong word. Im all super paranoid over it now.

ender-thomas-yanni-3-rexes-jewelry This guy comes out (Ender Thomas) and he is no crap wearing his hair like a woman. Complete with tight pants and rhinestones. Sexy. This guy is like the Fabio of Italian Men. Oh, wait, is Fabio Italian? Note to self: Do not buy rhinestone jeans for my DH. Or open ruffled white shirts. I think even Yanni is laughing at this guy. But he CAN sing, in fact, he is really really talented. There are a bunch of overly blonde fans in the audience rocking it out. Im thinking they were the next contestants on Rock of Love.

Now a woman just came out. I didnt catch her name. She has a pretty dress on, but she is wearing BLUE eyeliner. I have decided that blue eyeliner is a no on anyone. Just dont do it. Walk away. No, maybe its purple. NO! Its blue on bottom, purple on the top. NO NO NO!

New girl came out, SEXXXXXXY dress. But she is mucho talented. Reminds me a lot of the Irish girls that do the group singing, I cant really remember their names off the top of my head. This girl has to lay off the boxed hair dye though, its brassy. (Who am I to talk about that, Im like a hair dye connoisseur of screwing up. Then again, that sort of makes me an expert, right? ) This is dramatic. Now she is crying while she is singing. She is talented enough to pull it off.

Crap. I have popcorn stuck in my teeth.

Microblogging is kinda funny isnt, it? You get random sentences from me every 5 minutes. I am sure my blogs make up about zero sense this whole week.

They just brought out one of the guys from Yanni Voices. He is very humble and sweet. Good looking guy and he just sang us a song. There are Q &A from the women here. Someoneasked him what he thought of nursing moms. He turned 5 shades of red just now and said nursing moms are beautiful. Someone also asked what he thought about pushing your children into singing, music, etc and he said it was his mom that basically made him who he is today and its worthwhile to help your children grow. Children are unmotivated on their own so as parents you have to help them develop who they are. He believes social media is incredibly valuable.

Sesson over. Autograph session going on now. Off to SEOmg meeting.

Maybe I can help. “Than” is like comparison, such as “greater than and less than” or “I would rather eat cake than veggies”. “Then” is like when you are talking about time. “I went running, then I made dinner”. “First I ate cake, then felt fat.”

Woohoo, those years as an English teacher are paying off.
