SEO Tips for Bloggers 101

This morning we had our SEO 101 class and I think it went great! We had a lot of material to cover and our 30 minute class went for about an hour (and I even talked fast!).

We covered:

  • Basic SEO and your site
  • Importance of Fresh Content
  • Keywords
  • No Follow/Do Follow
  • Image links
  • Deep Linking
  • Link Baiting
  • Article Exchanges
  • Duplicate Content
  • Title Tags
  • Meta Tags

Thank you to everyone that attended and if you are interested in us running another SEO class, please let me know.

SEO 201 will be running next week to those that attended this mornings session where we will do a case by case SEO study on attendee sites, plugins, and a few things I didnt get to talk about today because we ran out of time.

Blogging Basics 101 is this evening at FNL.

See you then!

Awkkkk… Although I would have sworn I signed up for the forums obviously I didn’t because when I went to get into the SEO class this morning I couldn’t access the site. Blah. Did this get archived by chance? I super need these classes so if not I hope to get in on them when they repeat. Also where’s the radio area? I went to participate in the evening class today and couldn’t find it anywhere. My menstrual cycle is raging so this is my excuse. It’s also the reason I wanted to cry when I didn’t get int this morning.

I learned a lot but still a lot more to learn.

Since I’m using blogger I’m having trouble figuring out how to do image links but I’m sure there’s a work around it some how even if it means changing something in the html of the photo.

    Can’t wait for next week

Trisha this was great. I kind of knew a lot of this stuff, but didn’t really understand how to put in into effect. I will have to try some of your tips and can’t wait for SEO 201!

I definitely want to make the next one you end up doing. I tried to tune in to today’s, but it was all one sided for me (I could only see & hear you) so I don’t know what any of the questions asked were. It would also be great if you could post a summary of each item discussed, but just a suggestion :D

I have 2 pages of notes and I feel like it’s just the tip of the iceberg. I’d love to see examples of meta tags and title tags for a site that are SEO friendly and ones for a site that aren’t, to have a tangible example of what to do and what not to do.
