my neighbors are putting up Christmas lights already.  It looks great, but really I can’t deal with Christmas till I deal with Thanksgiving.  And no that’s not a picture of their house, but the one above looks really pretty doesn’t it, LOL

Oh my gosh, is it that time already for the holidays??

we have lights up outside on the house and in the bushes, and we have them on at night. but not tonight. for some reason every single strand of lights is not working. i think it may be my power strip. nice, huh? we will be decorating the inside and the rest of the outside after we get back from Michigan for Thanksgiving.

We put some lights up the last weekend we had where it was in the 60’s. They’re not plugged in and on yet, just out there so we weren’t doing it in 20 degree weather with windchills in the single digits. I’ve been decorating the house, but that’s because I’ve been cleaning and rearranging anyway, and my in laws are coming for Thanksgiving, and they’ve never been to our house for Christmas, so they’ve never seen it decorated. Yes, a little part of me wants to show off LOL.

I saw someone taking home a Christmas tree today and just about freaked out!

We have lights up outside on the house and bushes. But that’s it. The tree will go up when we get back from Michigan

  • Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday so it always breaks my heart that it ALWAYS gets cut short! I usually don’t really do the halloween decor so I try to extend Thanksgiving from October {with just a “Harvest Theme”} and run that ’til the weekend after Thanksgiving before I put Christmas stuff out…but I do see A LOT of Christmas lights going up this week.

I’m down with mixing the two. I like to think of Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Years as the Holiday Season. I love it so much it takes a whole season to work my jolly. :) Plus, I’m no fan of brown and orange and that’s all I seem to find for Thanksgiving.

  • Asha says:

I put up my tree on Saturday, but that is only because My hubby won’t be around much after Thanksgiving. That sucker was to heavy to do again alone this year, I didn’t put on the ornaments though.

  • Tracy K says:

Yes. There have been houses around here with their christmas lights up since after Halloween. My neighbor across the street put her’s up this afternoon.

I think ours will go up on Friday along with our tree.

  • Our neighbors, the few that actually do, will start stringing up lights the weekend after Thanksgiving. For us, we don’t know when we’ll start since we’re busy packing for vacation. But we did decorate the inside of the house for Christmas today.

  • Kendra Field says:

Um, aren’t these the same people who OVERDID Halloween? Not surprising they are already decorating for Christmas…lol. Shouldn’t be allowed!

  • Charlene says:

I hate the way everyone is rushing the season–by the time Christmas actually gets here, people are sick of it. Whatever happened to the 12 days of Christmas–putting the tree upon Christmas eve and leaving it up till Jan 6th? Nowadays by New Years here’s no trace of Christmas left.

  • Susan says:

I keep telling mu hubby that I am going to decorate our yard for Thaksgiving!!!! Christmas music at Walmart the day after halloween, UGH!!!! It gets earlier and earlier every year. It is out of control!!!!

  • Tracye says:

My neighbors put up their Christmas decorations two days after Halloween. They said they would be busy and wouldn’t be able to do it until mid-December. I say, WAIT UNTIL MID-DECEMBER!!!

I don’t know what it is, but everybody seems to be skipping Thanksgiving and going right for Christmas this year. ABC family has been playing marathon days of Christmas movies all weekend.

  • …My neighbor has Christmas stuff too! Like…the same day they took down their Halloween stuff.

And then down the block, there are houses with huge inflatable turkeys out front and other Thanksgiving decorations. HUH? Since when they did make Thanksgiving yard decorations? I really must be living under a rock.

  • Tena says:

I am with you, I can’t deal with this all until after Turkey Day!!
    LOL

  • erin says:

One neighbor has had lights up since the day after Halloween. Uhm. Can we wait for Thanksgiving?

  • Trish says:

Yeah, a lot of my neighbors have their lights up, and Christmas music is playing on almost every radio station and in every store. My hubby even wanted to start playing Christmas music. I said not till after Thanksgiving!

  • Chrissy says:

I don’t like to see them, but as we age and my husband suffers from a painful auto-immune disease…..he tries to hang them before the weather turns tortuous, i.e. extreme cold, heavy snow inhibiting placement, etc. We definitely don’t turn them on until a couple weeks before Christmas though either! lol. We don’t leave them up forever – if no appealing day presents itself after the holidays then he’ll just grin and bear it regardless.

  • Hilary says:

And do they leave the lights up until Feb/March? I agree. Too much too soon!
