Fuel your MomDot addiction with Skype (Closed)

Update: WINNER NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL

I can’t even tell you how many times in my short year of blogging, I have heard the phrase, “Do you Skype?” At first, I ignored the question so no one would figure out that I was behind the times (kind of the ostrich theory….if I hide my head, no one will see me!). Eventually, curiosity forced me to take my head out of the sand, join the social media bandwagon and learn what the big fuss was all about. When a Skype representative approached MomDot, I was more than happy to take on the challenge!

If you are not familiar with Skype, it is a great way to connect with family and friends using instant messaging, voice and video calls for FREE. It is as simple as downloading the FREE software! In no time, I had Skype set up, my webcam installed and my mouth was moving! Skype to Skype calls are always free, so if you and your friend are both on Skype, you can chat away all day for no charge. Why use your cell phone minutes?

Did you know that you can also make Skype calls to landlines for as little as $2.95/month? You can send a text message directly from Skype; forward a call to your mobile; or set up an online number for friends, family and colleagues to make a local call from their old-fashioned phone to your Skype, wherever in the world you are! Oprah even connected via Skype to a submarine! Skype offers subscription plans that are MUCH less than a traditional cell phone package. An Unlimited World plan allows you to make unlimited calls via Skype to landlines in over 40 countries. To see what services are free and which ones cost a little, visit the Skype pricing page.

I had the opportunity to use Skype to connect with my sister-in-law who was on a business trip in Germany. It was so incredibly cool to be able to place a video call with her while she was half-way across the world. Lily really enjoyed seeing her Nanny on the computer as well!
