Sleep Through The Night with Sound Machines Direct

ssshhhh, baby is sleeping

ssshhhh, baby is sleeping

I am rested and feel great! You wanna know why? I am well rested because my little girl, who is 16 months, is well rested. Yes, she slept through the night! She has been for a few nights now. I know that I probably should not be sharing this news of her not waking ALL night, after all it seems to be a curse…once you share that your little one is sleeping through the night, they are sure to then start waking every single night about 20 times. BUT, I had to let other moms know how they may be able to get their little one to also sleep through the night and in turn you mamas just might get some shut eye too, imagine that! So what’s the magical thing that started this new trend in our house? I think I owe it all to our new sound machine from Sound Machines Direct.

We used to run the portable air conditioner in my daughters room, just on the fan, at night to drown out any noise. But it’s gotten cooler lately and the air was waking her up, totally counterproductive if you ask me! Add our ginormous electricity bill and well, I had to find a better way!

About two weeks ago we started using the Homedics Sound Spa White Noise Sound Machine instead of the fan. And over the two weeks, my daughter has slept much better! And this was even through her having a cold. Wow!

What I love about this sound machine:

  • It’s has a small footprint so it’s not obnoxious looking sitting on her dresser
  • It’s super light weight so when we travel it can go in our suitcase, no problem
  • It has six sounds to choose from: rainforest, ocean waves, heartbeat, summer night, rain, and of course white noise (water falls) – this seems to be my daughter’s fave – or at least the one that keeps her sleeping longer.
  • It’s loud enough to drown out street noise and my son (so he doesn’t wake his sister during naps)
  • It has a timer so it doesn’t run all night if we don’t want it to – you can set the timer for 15, 30 or 60 minutes
  • It not only plugs in but also takes batteries for times when you don’t have an outlet

Sound Machines Direct has all sorts of machines to help even the lightest of sleeper. We also got to try the Marpac SleepMate 980A Sound Conditioner (includes FREE TravelMate Sleep CD), it’s super easy to use – no fancy buttons or sounds but it does give out some great white noise. You can change the pitch of the white noise and loudness by just turning the base. Very very easy to use. It plugs in to your wall and is also small so it doesn’t take up too much space on the dresser or bedside table.

You can find all of these great sound machines at Sound Machine’s Direct. http://www.soundmachinesdirect.com

Good luck ladies, I know this sleeping through the night issue is a tough one, take it one night at a time, enjoy the times they do go all night and remember… one day they’ll be teenagers and we’ll have to beg them to get out of their beds (I can’t wait for that! ha!)

Try a SleepMate 980A. It sounds just like a box fan. We’ve been using one for a few years. Bought ours at http://www.sleepwellbaby.com because of their free shipping offer.

I would imagine this would help anyone. My husband and I keep a fan on in our room just for noise and now he uses a C-PAP machine and it works like a sound machine for me!

  3. i’ve always wanted to try a sound machine. thank you for reviewing so completely. I never thought about the footprint, but you don’t want it to take up your whole nightstand! I’ve stayed near the ocean, near a babbling brook, camping in the woods and really enjoy sounds like that when I sleep, okay, I’m headed over to soundmachinesdirect.com You convinced me, it’s time!

Janet Carpenter’s last blog post..Tutu! Tutu! Tutu!
