Small Talk Six: Thanks or No Thanks?

smalltalksix3001

Want to join in?  Go here to learn how and  to view the weekly list Small Talk Six topics for 2009.

Today’s topic is “6 things (good or bad) that you credit your mother-in-law for.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

If you are not married, you can tell us about the closest thing you’ve had to a mother-in-law.  :)

Here are my six:

1)  Teaching my husband that it is okay to leave things wherever he stands, such as his socks by the front door, mail on the dining room table, pants on the safety gate, etc . . .  She always followed him around and picked up after him.

2)  Spoiling my husband as a child.  When money was good, he could have all the toys or designer clothes and shoes that he wanted as long as he stayed out of trouble.

3)  She taught my husband that it is okay to relax first and do his chores later instead of the other way around.

4)  Teaching my husband to be gentle and caring towards women and animals.

5)   Causing my 5yr old to ask me, “If smoking is bad, why does Grammy do it?”

6)  She allowed her children to have a lot of freedom, even at a young age.  My husband said this taught him some important lessons because he made his own mistakes and had to learn these lessons the hard way.

Now go post your own list on your blog (don’t forget to grab a button) and then leave the direct link to your post on Mr. Linky.  Then go check out everyone else’s Small Talk Six lists and leave them a comment so they know you stopped by.  If for some reason Mr. Linky isn’t there, just leave your links within a comment.

I was so hesitant to post my answers, but I did! Well, just maybe my MIL will read them, but I guess it is better to let her know why I think about.

    Mine is up as well!

Well at least you have some positives to say about your MIL. I got nothin’ other than the fact that she gave birth to my true love.

Here’s my link, although I confess, my post doesn’t exactly meet the Small Talk Six criteria. It does, however, address crediting my mother-in-law with something for which I will be eternally grateful. And as Thanksgiving Day fast approaches, I thought it made sense to pay tribute to her. http://planetmom.typepad.com/planet_mom_blog/2009/10/thanksgiving-feast.html

Great that she taught him to be kind to women and animals, but wow, not so much on the “thanks for all youve done to help make my husband into a partner” eh? Can be hard to find mother’s day cards and birthday cards when you have someone like that!!

Well I went to put the button in my post and it told me the image wasn’t available. So I don’t know how to put a button in my WP blog. So tossed it all and posted on my blog here. Any help would be appreciated.

I think my newness is showing :)

For the button, did you try to right-click and save it onto your computer and then add it to your blog or blog post that way?

Mr. Linky is at the bottom of this post. You need to click on the title of your Small Talk Six post so that just that post is showing. Then copy and paste the url into Mr. Linky along with your name or blog’s name.

      Hope this helps. :)

I think a lot of us had more “freedom” as children. I remember roaming the neighborhood with my friends all day. The only rule was to be home when the street lights came on! Our parents never worried about us. Nowadays, parents are just a lot more protective (and that includes myself).

It was easier for me to make my list because this is not my blog and I doubt my MIL will ever see it. And, oh well, if she does. :P
