Last year we created The Dottie Awards, which was a ton of fun and a great hit. They are blogger awards we run twice a year and are nominated and voted on by the bloggers themselves.
Our theme last year was ‘back in school’ and we gave out blogger awards for the Class President, Cheerleader, Biggest Nerd, Drama Queen, Band Geek and more.
We are now looking for a new theme for the upcoming year that we can seperate into categories to be voted on by fellow bloggers again. After a theme is picked and categories are created, we will take nominations for bloggers to fall under the categories, then list polls where you can come by and vote for your favorite blogger under each category. The blogger under each category will recieve an award and their name, blog, and description will be replaced in our Dottie Category, where they will be featured there for the next 4-6 months, until we do it again.
This year we will also be going around and highlighting some of the crazy things bloggers are doing to solicite votes and there even may be a prize or two awarded to the blogger who secures the most votes overall. *tbd after categories are set up*
Leave as many theme ideas that you have! The more, the merrier!

You could do a “friends” theme. Like the “Monica” would maybe be the most meticulously groomed blog. The “Phoebe” would be the blog that’s so fun to read but a bit flaky at times and a bit scatter-brained. The “Joey” could be the diva blog. The “Ross” could be the very intelligent blog. The “Rachel” could be the blog that sounds like your best friend is writing it. The “Chandler” could obviously be the funniest blog. You could even have the “Gunther” to be the blog you read first in the morning while drinking your cup of coffee. And you could even get some categories for famous Friends sayings or famous episodes. I can’t think of any right now… my husband is snoring in my ear… but it’s a thought!

We have Blue Ribbon for an all around great blog
The Pretty Patch for a highly pictoral blog
Bucket of Chuckles for a fun and full of laughs spot
The Compost Heap for off color but full of good stuff home
Our Favorite Mutt the one that we visit because it has good days and bad and still makes us come back for more.
Just a theory and one in need of some real fine tuning.

Ohh that is tough, tough, tough.
Okay off the top of my head..how about “Reality TV” style awards.
“Survivor” a blogger that overcomes difficult circumstances (divorce, single parenting, etc)
“American Idol” a blogger that sounds off louder than the rest, vlogs, showy, etc.
“Biggest Loser” a motivational blogger. (ie features other bloggers, frequently comments on blogs, etc)
That’s probably silly, but it’s the best my fried brain can come up with tonight.

I like Melissa’s idea. I was going to suggest tv/film categories or different music genres (rock n roll, classic, punk, blues, etc . . .)

How about award show categories? Best picture, best drama, best comedy, best love story, best fight, best video, etc.
Or instead of best…do picture of the year, drama of the year, comedy of the year, etc.
