Sprucing up for Spring!

Just a few weeks ago I was complaining that owning a home is hard work. It really is. But the inside I can <mostly> handle. And even though it can get a little messy and dirty from time to time, its nothing compared to the outside care. Just recently I noticed every house in our neighborhood has this mold growing on the side.

Including ours.

We also need to do some weed and feed…..like…everywhere.

And the poor hibiscus always end winter looking like they got a bad haircut.

Then of course there is last years unfinished gardening, bushes that need serious trimming, dead spots in the yard and those damn red ants that just seem to relocate.

And yes…this is REALLY my yard right now. We just totally neglect it when it gets cold outside.

I am very much looking forward to getting back on our toes, getting the weeds out and getting that new grass growing.  I am also thinking of selling the big major yard swing set to put in a soccer goal and have some space for a few water slides. I guess we will see how much Charlotte freaks out when I mention that.

All that above shown, and even with the walls that need fixed and painted in here, I am so happy to have a yard and a house! I never forget to count those blessings.  Of course if our identity had ever been stolen, getting a house would have been much harder…if not impossible.

Chris and I saw Identify Thief last week and while it was FUNNY (REALLY funny), it’s a scary possibility in this digital age we live in where our personal information is all over the place.  If you are worried abour your own identity or have evern been a victim of fraud, LifeLock for Life game has all the tips you need to make sure the largest purchase of your life is done safely and securely! You can also watch for updates on the LifeLock Facebook Page, Twitter stream, and G+ profile .

Now I know some of you are still fighting winter snow, but it wont be long till the sound of lawn mowers fill the neighborhood. Heck, the ice cream man came through just yesterday!

Does your yard look anything like mine or were we just extra neglectful this year?

  1. We are doing lots of changes to our back yard this year.

  2. We use a power washer to clean our siding every year, that should help with the gunk.

  3. I think your yard looks fantastic! You should see ours, omg. We have a serious mole issue going on here and I have no clue how to make them go away!!! :(

  4. Thank goodness I no longer own my home, LOL. It’s such hard work to maintain a home .. for sure!

  5. Oh gosh, my yard looks pretty similar to yours right now, except my Hibiscus is in even worse shape! I tend to neglect the yard in the winter – it’s just too cold to be outside tending to things. When Spring hits and the sunshine comes out, that’s when I get motivated to do some serious yard work!

  6. Yeah my house is a mess. We have a small patio and rock yard (live in AZ) and yet I swear we look like the clampets (SP?). Playing in the yard a few weeks ago the KIDS found TWO black widow spiders SOOO yeah we are right there with you. UGH!

  7. If you think your garden needs help you should see mine. I’ve been wanting to start growing veggies in our backyard since forever. Hoping, though, soon will be sometime this year!! ;)

  8. We sold our home last year and sometimes I do miss having that freedom – but when the hot water heater needed to be replaced, I was happy we weren’t paying for it. Someday though, I can’t wait to own a home again.

  9. Our yard looks like that at the end of the summer – but right now is a mess from Winter and actually covered in snow. I can’t wait for Spring!

  10. I have that same yucky mold growing on my outside storage building that has siding and some dead bushes I need to dig up. Taking care of a home is hard work. I can’t wait for it to get warm and get outside to clean up.

  11. Your yard looks way better than mine! We have loads of work to do once the snow melts. Here in North Dakota that could be forever from now.

  12. Spiders? Yikes, get me a flame thrower! Seriously, we’re still deep in winter here in Boston, I cringe when I think of what the exterior of the house & yard will look like when the snow finally melts.

As a tech I hear mention of Lifelock frequently, is the program simple, easy to use?

  13. Our yard looks just like yours. My husband was saying yesterday that my potted flowers look dead (they are most definitely NOT).
