Stepping out of the box…

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Revlon for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I carry two very different sides to myself.

I am the Mom: sweat pants, shorts, tshirt and no bra, pony tail and drool on my shoulder.

I am the Woman: Girly, dressy, hair “did”, makeup, and heels Unfortantly neither side really wins the majority of my time.

When you have kids at home, dressing up can be very last minute and when I do, I tend to go to my safe place.

She looks a little like this:

You know…normal.

But inside I have to be honest that I do have a little Glam Girl waiting to bust out. I am just afraid to step out into the reds and blues and brights. I think as a mother we are always withdrawing who we are, just trying to get in and out of stores, on with the bills, raising our kids, we don’t have time to be noticed.

We barely have time to notice ourselves.

We have to CHANGE that. I am a firm believer that our outside should match how we feel.

It is hard for me to believe that a woman that walks around with jogging pants and a ratty shirt has self confidence and feels good about herself. I say that because I have been that woman. On certain days I AM that woman.  SHe wants to crawl back in bed, not put on lipstick and nail polish. Am I right?

But sometimes kick starting self confidence is as easy as taking a shower, fixing up ourselves, and LIKING what we see.

Recently I had a chance to test some makeup that is out the box for ME. “Inspired”  eye shadow of teals and purples and some brilliant red lipstick.

Red.

Red.

RED!

revlon Expressions

What do you think? Can I pull it off?

Now its your turn! You need to start with your own self expression by joining Revlon with the Revlon Expression Experiment tab on Facebook. It’s time to step out of the box and be YOU! *(or the you want to show to the world!)

You tell me, are there any colors you are afraid of? How do you give yourself some “expression” and get away from the “same old, same old” daily grind? Does dressing up make you feel better during the day?

Test out some of those expressions and come back and tell me about it!

  1. Love, love, love the hair. Too cute!

  2. I love this! I just bought that exact same color palette yesterday when I stocked up on some makeup for vacation.

  3. I usually stay away from reds but that lipstick looks great on you. I use to keep it simple, translation–brown, beige, black (boring!). Nowadays I try to spice it up with more color. I’m working my way to red.

  4. You know I always think you look terrific, but I love this 50′s inspired pin-up girl look on you. You can SO pull it off.
I’m afraid of bright red, I’ve done a darker red in the warm family, but never just red. My grandmother wore red every day until the day she died… even when she was out walking in her tube top (BAD idea) and shorts. She still had her nails done and her red lipstick. She was awesome.

  5. Looks great! Those colors are too bold for me. :)

  6. SO stinking cute! I have never worn red lipstick but I think it’s about time I tried it. :)

  7. Lol I just adore you Trisha seriously. I think you could make just about any look come of well put together and classy. I love the jumping photo too … so fun. I do agree though it looks great on you.

  8. You look marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrvelous darling! lol No really I totally love your vlog. What a neat thing to do. Especially for women to experiment with make-up if they don’t do it that way, and you just showed them how! Very cool! I have definitely got to try that, but RED! MAMA DON’T DO RED! My grandmother would turn over in her grave. She said that girls that wore that much make up & RED lipstick were… well let’s say they weren’t ladies. hehehe Gramma was from the old country, Palermo! Thanks a bunch. I really enjoyed it. Have a great weekend. Oh, and I loved kitty getting into the act! Totally cute!

  9. You look fantastic in those colors – it really brightens up your face. I think I need to invest in something besides beige and brown. ;)

  10. Loved these photos! You made me want to grab some makeup, but darn, most of mine is expired. Today I did get some nice lip gloss that I am sporting.
I really liked that outfit in the first shot. Does that make me normal?

  11. I think I look funny with anything but browns on. I’ve tried…

  12. Just a little bit of color really transforms you from Mom to Hot! I think you do red very well.

  13. Love the makeup. I normally wouldn’t think of wearing bright colors but now that I’ve seen you use it I’m definitely going to venture out of my comfort zone and try my own Revlon Expression Experiment. Those colors look so good on you.

  14. I have always loved red on lips and it looks good on you!! And I love that dress!

  15. You are way too cute!!!! as a blond I am afraid of red lips…not much else tho. It was a stretch for me to do red toe nail polish, but once I tried I was smittten and always sport red toes now!!!

  16. Lou Lange says:

You definitely looked very nice, Trisha! If hubby didn’t take you out, I would have volunteered!

  17. I think you look great, I am not a makeup person but I have been tempted by the red lipstick a time or two. ;)

  18. I used to wear blue eye shadow and red lipstick back in the 90′s :) Along with my huge red plastic eyeglass frames, I was pretty confidant! You look gorgeous with this look and love that dress!

  19. You rock it Trisha. I can’t help but sing Madonna with this lol. You are absolutely glamorous, looks amazing.

  20. What a fantastic post. You did an incredible job, Trisha, especially the hair. That last picture of you on the bottom left actually looks like a young Meryl Streep! What’d your husband say when he saw you? Hopefully he dropped everything, called the babysitters, and took you out for a night on the town.

  21. I love, love love the red on you – and I had a chance to try the lip butter in a sample recently and I loved it – normally I don’t buy lip stuff but I would buy that. And just last night I was thinking I need to buy a bright color for my lips. My inner bombshell needs to be released!

  22. You definitely rocked that bright red lipstick!!! That is the one color I just can’t bring myself to use, I am always afraid I will look like a big clown, but I am determined to glam it up next date night

  23. You are adorable!! And, yes, I think you can pull it off! Especially with that hair-do!

I am not a lipstick girl – the color on my lips SCARES me! I need to work on my self-confidence.

  24. Love that last picture of you, peaking out the side of the frame, really cute! I like red lipstick, it can really make you look glam. I guess I’ll have to try that look for my next date night with the hubby!
