Sugar Gliders….

I want one of these sugar gliders.

I saw them at the flea market and I want one bad.

Tell my Dh to buy me one.

I promise to feed it and love it and keep it forever.

I swear.

I currently have 6 and they are alot of work. Each has a differant personality. You need to be very careful of suggies being sole in flea markets. Many of them aren’t even old enough to be taken from their mothers. The one in your picture looks like it may still be about 2 weeks too young to be separated. Make sure you do your research. A word of advice: be sure to go to a breeder so you can ask as many questions as you need to and be sure to see the parents of the joey. A good breeder will have no problems with either. I’d rather a new owner ask me 1,000 questions than only 1 or 2. If you are in or near the state of Alabama, you are more than welcoe to see my gliders.

Actually, they are super adorable and fun…and they fit in your pocket forever. Had them once and they were fabulous–Bonnie and Clyde.

But you should also take a look at chinchillas…wish I could post a photo of my babies so you could see them. My Momma and Daddy chinnies had babies and OMG, I just love them soooo much!

  3. Katie says:

OMG I’m sorry to be the only one to say this, but those things creep me out! LOL :)

  4. OMG How adorable is that little thing! I’ve never heard of them either, but now you have me curious.

Special diets, need to be in pairs or tri, they are a social colony animal. They can not be fed just anything like so many “bredders” will tell you. They are escape artist, nocturnal and their cages need cleaning daily or you get a lovely musky smell going on. They need vertical and horizontal space to live in. This means a large averary cage. They are not a pet for children, as they get scared and do bite (drawing blood).

Most you find at flea markets are older non social animals, or babies who were just shipped into the person in a box from another state.

I have 3 books on them and their care as well multiple care sheets and dietary needs. After breeding them for 4 years I can always offer tips and advice if you still want one.

  7. Stefanie says:

  8. Ellie says:

I never heard of it. What exactly is it?

  9. Brandie says:

OMG, I love them too BUT they can get really mean!! That’s the only thing that kept me from getting one.

  10. Brandy says:

Trisha’s DH – Please buy Trisha a Sugar Glider – she says she will love it always!!

I love Sugar Gliders, and agree they are SUPER cute!!! Ask your DH to get me one too while he’s at it ;-)

  11. Cat says:

What exactly is it? Some sort of mouse?

  12. Nicole says:

I’ve actually never even heard of a sugar glider. Thanks for sharing – it is awfully cute.

  13. Jess says:

That is by far the cutest little pet in the world. But yes, just reading up on the cuteness makes me scramble for a brown paper back to take deep breaths into. Still, SO precious.

  14. CLAIRE says:

They require SOOOOOO much care!!! And they outght to be kept in pairs, not to mention they live forever, are nocturnal ( I bet he was ticked to be in the sunlight!!!) Sugar gliders are very cute, but ALOT of work & most people dont know that until they’re already in. We had 2 babies on their way to us before we got pregnant with Andy & they stayed with their mommy b/c we wouldnt have been able to give them the care they needed or the attention level they do, but they are soooo cute & SOO sweet!!

  15. Firefly says:

    Cute!

  16. My mom actually has one that she wants to get rid of. Wanna travel up here and get it?? FREE!!!!!

I just couldn’t take in another mouth to feed.

  17. Courtney says:

Wow they are super cute, but I could imagine not being able to find it if it got on the floor lol

  18. Amy says:

My brother had one of those. It WAS cute, but he lost it in his (tiny) apartment. We never did find it. :(

  19. Cindy says:

Did you see the requirements for keeping one healthy? They’re adorable, but I’m not a good enough petmommy to take care of one. Goodness: http://www.sugarglider.com/gliderpedia/index.asp?PetDrawbacks

  20. Janessa says:

Those things are soooo cute but I know it would just end up being one more thing I had to take care of, plus I’m not sure one would survive the dogs and children around our rough and tumble house. :)
