Between us…about 13 inches!

I have had long hair a LONG time. I can’t even remember the last time I had short hair….according my webcam photos, I started growing it out somewhere around 2008 and it was relatively long already in 2009 when Micheal Jackson died.

Sniff.

So…atleast 3 years of “down your back, long, (and slightly annoying, but still pretty)” hair.

About 2 days ago I woke up and just knew it was time to cut all of this off:

I was finding that I quit fixing it unless I had to.

It was wet pony tail hair.

My hair took 40 minutes to dry (and honestly I never really got it completely dry) and then another 20 to fix it. With a 9 month old and a 7 year old, the priority of it just went out the window.

Off to the salon I went, where they assured me I would look competly normal and I wouldn’t lose my identity or anything. The entire time I had Lynsey texting me and trying to talk me out of it and Kim saying “hmmm”.

My spouse and Cat were trying to get me to cut it to my chin.

No thanks. No need to make my face look rounder.

But I did cut 7 inches at its longest point:

(ignore the pedicure my daughter gave me recently)

And….now this is me:

Of course after I cut mine, my daughter wanted to cut hers and since I had no excuse to make her keep her mega long hair…we went back to the salon for another snip snip.

Before:

After:

I am not going to lie….it was hard to do. Doing mine and watching her cut hers….but it feels so much cooler for the summer months, it’s so far been easier to fix, less shampoo, and I can always grow it back.

I hope.

What do you think…us with long hair or short hair?

  1. Love it! Just cut my hair off to my chin!

  2. You know I think you are both beautiful either way – You could be BALD and still be gorgeous. =)
I really think Charlotte looks like such a young lady with her new cut… getting so grown up.
    Love you both. <3

  3. You both look great with long AND short hair but the short cuts are so flattering on both of you. And you’re right these will feel so much better for summer!

  4. Oh Trisha, You both look gorgeous with short hair. And Charlotte, how cute is she? I’ve been toying with cutting my hair too, but in the end, I always chicken out. Now that I see it can turn out awesome, I might go for it next time.

  5. Susannah says:

Short hair is cute and it feels incredible! Did you have enough hair to donate to an organization to Locks of Love?

  6. I love your new hair – I think it looks amazing! Charlotte looks adorable with her new ‘do’ too! I know how you feel about her hair – I’ve never let AG cut hers – not even once – and she is well over 5 now. I know the day is coming, I just don’t want to think about it.

  7. Michelle says:

I have always had long long hair. I did cut it and donate it to looks of love. you both have lovely hair so both styles look nice!

  8. You have gorgeous hair! I think both of you two look great with shorter hair! Yours looks bouncy and fun, and your daughters really makes her look older.

  9. For some reason it hurt more to see your daughter cut her hair. But you both do look great and yes it way better for the summer time. Im over due to a hair cut also. Thanks for the reminder

  10. I’ve always loved long hair. I think it makes women and little girls look younger. The cuts are very cute

  11. I think you both look great with shorter hair! You’ll love how much less shampoo, conditioner, and styling products you’ll need, too :)

  12. First off, you guys look exactly alike! I like it both ways but I tend for the summer to like it shorter. It makes things a lot easier with the humid weather. You both look great! I love that you both did it together!

  13. You are both BEAUTIFUL!

I am a short hair kinda gal. Mine has always been shoulder length or shorter. It gets too stringy and thin if it’s much longer than that.

  14. You both look great either way. I totally understand about the hair drying situation. Mine takes 1/2 hour at least. Since December, I’ve cut 11 inches off my hair and haven’t missed it a bit. Shorter hair is sooo much easier in the Summer! You both look great!

  15. You both look fab! I need a trim too I haven’t had it cut since before Brandcation and its getting too long to pull off as a pixie style anymore!

  16. I love your hair cut. Every few years I cut my hair short, really short (this is one of those years) then I grow it back and repeat the process. My daughter recently cut 12 inches from her hair – she’s only 4. She really likes it and its sooooo much easier now with the hot humid summer setting in. My thoughts on kids and short hair is “as long as it can go into a ponytail, we’re good.” And I’ve always said it grows back – something I remind my husband every time I get it whacked off.

  17. You are gorgeous Trisha, long, no hair, short hair:) I love little girls with short hair so love it on Charlotte. Brings facial features out more. I’m ready to chop mine but promised hubs I’d let it grow for a while. I’m a pony tail mom right now as it takes ages to dry!

  18. Wow, that is soooo cute on you! It does NOT look “mom” on you, it looks perfect for summer. I wish my hair would curl as well as yours, it looks really pretty :)

  19. I think it looks great both ways! Shorter is definitely easier and cooler for the summer! I have been growing mine out again but it’s a huge pain since I can never get rid of the frizz unless I spend an hour drying and straightening it – ugh. I may have to cut it all of again.

  20. Eh hem …. I recall saying shoulder length, not chin :P

And I was right, you both look gorgeous. So there!

And I’m going to go get my hair cut today too, it needs it but I go for the chin length so I can’t put it in a pony tail. It forces me to do something with it.

    • And you called me a CHICKEN.

My spouse actually said chin..sorry about that.

I have actually had it that short and he liked it…but i was younger, so I think it may just make me look….”rounder” now. HA

      • LOL I will eat my words … you’re definitely not a chicken and I’m glad you did it, the shorter cut looks so much better on you. I don’t think your face is round at all.

  21. I like it short! It looks looks fresh and you’re probably going to love how much easier it is to manage.

  22. I think you both look great! I was so afraid you wouldnt like it – because every time I cut mine I hate it! hahaha But it looks great!

  23. I love the haircuts! Wow you went short but it looks great! Reminds me I need to get mine figured out for it’s at that mid way length where I can’t do my long hairstyle I like nor the short ones and I end up pulling it up in a pony tail most days or messy bun.

I bet your hair does feel soooo much lighter for sure! Great Summer choices for haircuts!

  24. I think you look so cute either way, it’s great that you can pull either off. You are brave, and your hair grows like a weed so I’m sure if you wanted it long again it wouldn’t take that long. Love the cuts on both of you. :)

  25. I like them both ways honestly. But really, I’m in the same boat as you were and cutting it is really the right thing to do. Wet ponytail head is no fun. Now you get to have a cute style that’s easy to maintain.
