Sunday Family time, Crafts with Andrea!

Posted on Andrea on September 21, 2008 // 8 Comments //

I am so excited to bring you the first craft post on MomDot.  Hopefully there are other creative and crafty moms on here that will enjoy this information, and maybe I can inspire a few of the typically non-crafty moms to try a couple things as well.

I thought I would start out by bringing to light some craft trends that are sweeping the Internet and craft stores alike.

For the scrapbookers out there, I have noticed tons of adorable birdie and owl embellishments on the market lately.  I have to admit they are beyond adorable and I have purchased and downloaded my fair share and even used one or two on my layouts already.

Twitter Talk is a digital scrapbook kit available for purchase at Shabby Pickle and includes two adorable birdies just waiting to be paired with your favorite Summer photos.  On the right are some clear stamps available at Michaels for the traditional scrapbooker or card maker, how sweet are those feathered friends?

If you are into sewing or even a beginner at sewing, you should try to make your own Crayon Roll.  These are popping up everywhere in the cutest fabrics.  They would make great Christmas presents and we all know kids have tons of crayons just lying in a box waiting for a pretty little Crayon Roll to organize them in.

Cindy over at Skip To My Lou has posted an easy to follow tutorial on how to make your own Crayon Roll.  The possibilities are endless with all the great fabrics and ric rac you could use.

Last, but not least, Fall and Halloween ideas abound at this time of year.  So, if you are looking for a fun craft to do with your children, check out this spooky tie-dyed t-shirt.

FamilyFun Magazine has this idea posted on their website along with many other great Halloween crafts for children of all ages.  What kiddo wouldn’t want to wear this festive shirt to school and show off their handy work?!

Happy Crafting,

Andrea (come visit me for Crafting Memes and more!)

I saw those crayon rolls over on Skip to my Lou too, and keep thinking I should try to make one. Maybe seeing it again will get me motivated. Thanks for all the cute ideas!

The Crayons roll is such a great idea! I should have thought of that when I was teaching K and spending 20 minutes a day picking broken crayon pieces off the floor!
