When I was pregnant with both of my girls, I continued to teach dance lessons.  I taught advanced tap classes up until a week before I delivered!  So, it comes as no surprise that both of my girls LOVE music.  Give them a song…ANY song….and they will start dancing (and they both have some rhythm, too!).

Listening to different types of music is certainly something that my husband and I encourage in our home, so when I was asked to review the SweetPea3 MP3 player for kids, I knew it would be an instant hit.  The SweetPea3 is the first toy developed by the SweetPea Toy Company located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  There are so many great features to tell you about, so I will work from the outside in.  First, this fully functional MP3 player comes in both blue and violet and is ready to be used right out of the box.  It’s lightweight design and handle makes it easy for little ones to carry and the durable rubber exterior protects the player from the inevitable accidents.  Inside, the SweetPea3 has 1GB of storage (that is 16 hours of play time), an integrated speaker, large LCD display, hidden volume controls, headphone jack, and programmable auto off.  The player can be connected to both a PC and Mac in order to download songs and stories which can be organized into 3 playlists.  For such a small toy, there are so many features!

As a parent, there are several things that I liked about the this kids MP3 player.  The three button control system made it extremely easy for Lily (age 4) to find the songs she wanted to hear and the parental volume control ensures that little exploring fingers won’t turn up the volume excessively.  The exterior design definitely had younger toddlers in mind!  Aubrie (age 1) was able to easily carry it around and of course, DANCE!  I also loved that the player was ready to go right out of the box.  If there is one thing that toddlers do NOT have, it is patience!  So, being able to play the SweetPea3 instantly was an asset.  It comes preloaded with a AA battery and songs by award winning artist Susie Tallman & Friends and Jim Weiss, award winning storyteller.

Mom Improvements:

There honestly isn’t much I would change about the SweetPea3! I think offering a few more colors would be great.
