Television Star SALARIES; How much do they make?

Television star salaries were recently listed by TV Guide letting us know what those Hollywood earnings really are. So how much do stars make for their TV shows? More than someone like you and I do on a 9-5, that is for sure. But are they bigger than big blockbuster movie actor salaries?

Take a look at the top paid actors and actresses of TV series, including large contracts and big episode payouts:

1) Jennifer Lopez

Lopez netted a 12 million dollar deal to be one of the new co-hosts for American Idol. I am not looking forward to her. I think she be as flaky as Paula without the lovable factor. Puke.

P.S. Ryan Seacrest has a deal for 15 million for his continued service.

2) Charlie Sheen

Charlotte Sheen rocks the TV Salary mark and with over 14.4 million viewers, he is up from $825K an episode to $1.8 million. That’s a nice pay raise. I think I could get out of bed for that in the morning. His co-star Jon Cryer makes $550K an episode.

That has to be annoying.

3) Hugh Laurie

Hugh Laurie is also known as “Dr. House” and nets a cool $400K per episode. And with as many episodes as I see on re-runs, that ain’t too shabby.

4) Oprah Winfrey

Not too much of a shocker, Oprah brings in 325 million dollars a YEAR. That could feed a small (or large….probably large) country.

I mean does anything after like $100million even make a difference? Does that mean you can buy an island instead of a jet to take you to an island?

5) Judge Judy

Judge Judy was one of my favorite shows back in college. She had a soft heart somewhere under the cynicism. Maybe its because she has an annual salary of 45 Million.

6) David Letterman

David Letterman is talk show King, although I do not watch him, beating out all the other late night hosts, for a respectable TV salary of 28 million.

Other TV salaries to make you sick:

  • Law And Order Stars Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay both take $395K an episode
  • Dancing with the Stars celebrities $200K per episode plus bonus
  • Katie Couric has a 15 million dollar contract
  • Mark Harmon of NCIS takes home $325K per episode
  • Patrick Dempsey, Grey’s Anatomy $225,000
  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Old Christine $225,000
  • Eva Longoria, Desperate Housewives $200,000
  • Ellen Pompeo, Grey’s Anatomy $200,000
  • Jeff Foxworthy, Are You Smarter… $150,000
  • T.R. Knight, Grey’s Anatomy $125,000
  • Chandra Wilson, Grey’s Anatomy $125,000
  • Sally Field, Brothers & Sisters $100,000

‘Next Top Model’: Where are they now?

WOOHOO!!

Favorite Show Alert! Favorite Show Alert!!

One of my very favorite reality show indulgences is Americas Next Top Model. We even played a ANTM game here on the blog 2 years in a row and it was a blast (dont ask, had to be there). I am beside myself waiting with my DVR in hand to catch the tryouts and hopefuls appearing tonight.

This is where I battle with American Idol vs ANTM in my house. Usually I watch Americas Next Top Model live and DVR American Idol.

After the auditions American Idol gets lame anyway.

So lets talk about the winners from the years passed…I often see them randomly inserted into commercials and campaign ads, but here is what they have been up to!

‘Next Top Model’: Where are they now?

  • Show Host: Tyra Banks
  • Show Start: Tonight! Feb 23rd

Adrianne Curry ‘Top Model’

Adrianne Curry

Adrianne was such a spitfire on her season of Top Model. I was really happy she won that year. If my memory is serving me correctly, she married one of the Brady Bunch guys…or dated him. They had some lame spin off show on VH1 for a bit. He was an ass.

Anyhoo, she went on to model for Macys and a billion magazines. Mucho Sexified!

Yoanna House ‘Top Model’

Yoanna House

Yoanna was the winner of the second season of Americas Next Top Model. She debuted as a model at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week and like her predecessor, been seen in quite a few magazines. She also was on a show called Queen Bee that attempted to reform “mean girls”.

Eva Marcille (Pigford)’Top Model’

You just totally knew Eva was going to win in her season. Such piercing eyes! She went on to have a successful career, staring in The Young and the Restless. I am pretty sure Eva was one of the shorter girls in her season…5’7″? The runner up in her season, Yaya, also went on to some acting jobs. Yeah for 2nd place!

Naima Mora ‘Top Model’

As the daughter of two artists, Naima has been in more than just a TV show, but also appeared as a front woman for two bands. She served as an Emmy Trophy Girl and briefly on Project Runway.

Nicole Linkletter ‘Top Model’

Nicole was the first winner from North Dakota, has hosted for E! and been a VH1 host…which isn’t too far from one of her runner-ups Kim Stolz, whom I see on MTv all the time.

Dani Evans ‘Top Model’

Danille from ANTM

Danielle was DARLING in her season! She had this gap between her teeth and this southern charm. Her contract with Cover Girl was renewed and she has appeared in fashion week. Go Dani, Go!

CariDee English ‘Top Model’

CariDee English

CariDee was a really sweet girl. I loved that she won her season. She had a big premiere with Oxygen’s Pretty Wicked and has been spreading awareness about psoriasis. She is currently working with the band Better Than Ezra.

Whitney Thompson ‘Top Model’

Whitney Thompson ANTM

Whitney was the shows first full figured winner. She has spoken out about weight and has her own line of jewelry and candles.

Other Americas Next Top Model Winners include:

  • McKey, whom has been ranked on Sexiest people and most Beautiful people “lists”.
  • Nicole Fox whom won a special season for petite women and is modeling for Nicole Ritchie

Cant wait for tonight~ Do you watch this show?

~Trisha

Update: Ok, the whole cat walk in the bubble? JUST WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so far I like that sweet girl..jayce? The one w/ dimples.

Where Are They Now? Disney Stars

Where Are They Now? Disney Stars!

We all know about Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera, but many got their big acting break on Disney, whom is well known for making the average teenager a break out star. We just don’t want our child star to become the one with 6 divorces and shaving their head on public TV in a mental breakdown, am I right?

Zac Efron

Disney Star from High School Musical

Hands down my favorite recent Disney Star is Zac Efron. While his shaved head isn’t exactly doing it for me, he is gorgeous all 7 days of the week. Newly single Zac has also been recently spotted back with his High School musical sweetheart, Vanessa Hudgens (also a Disney Star) proving that indeed absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Lindsey Lohan

Disney Star from The Parent Trap

Too bad, so sad Miss Lohan has spent more time in rehab than in movies on stripper poles recently. Struggling into her adult years, former Disney darling Lindsey Lohan has recently moved next door to her ex-girlfriend, Samantha, Ronson, much to her surprise. Rejected from Donalds Trumps Celebrity Apprentice, it might be time for Lindsey to pack up her twin and find a new career.

Britany Spears

Disney Star from The New Mickey Mouse Club

Britney has rarely strayed from the spotlight. From her days as a Mickey Mouse Club contender to her “Oops I did it Again”, Britney has maintained a public image to shame many mothers. Through all the craziness however, she has managed to put out some solid CDs and keeps reinventing herself. The only thing I seriously worry about is her wierd relationship with Mel Gibson.

Justin Timberlake

Disney Star from The New Mickey Mouse Club

Long time coveted by teenage girls, Justin surprised us all when he cut his hair off and stepped away from the highly successful boy band N’Sync. Still going strong, Justin has appeared on SNL, made many a movie (most recently The Social Network) and has a crooner voice that tops them all. He isn’t aging badly either…

Christina Aguilera

Disney Star from The New Mickey Mouse Club

Sexy and sultry, Christina went from X-tina faster than Lindsey Lohan went to rehab. While I miss her “Fighter” days, she has grown into a woman, a mom, and is going through a divorce, must to the surprise of her fans.  You can catch Christina in a movie with Cher appropriately called Burlesque.

Raven Symone

Disney Star from “Thats so Raven!”

Also on the Young Moguls list earning nearly 50 million dollars, “That’s So Raven!” star has started the year out a slimmer shadow of her former self. You can expect to see her in The Great State of Georgia on ABC soon.

Lisa Whelchel

Disney Star from The  Mickey Mouse Club

You take the good, you take the bad…you have the facts of life, the Facts of Life! Lisa starred in the Mickey Mouse club (which started up in 1955) and is the author of a book called The Busy Grandmas Guide to Prayer. But what I find interesting as a parent is that she is a fan of the controversial parenting technique “Hot Saucing”. Look it up.

Annette Funicello

Disney Star from The  Mickey Mouse Club

Along with Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello was a heartbreak away as a beach blanket babe in the 1960′s. You may also remember that perfect cupid face as a Mickey Mouse club member. You can find Miss Funicello working on her Annette Funicello Collectible Bear company now a days.

Demi Lovato

Disney Star from Camp Rock

Count Demi as another one of those drug rehab girls that Disney produces in its stars. Although doing really well in Grays Anatomy, way back when you could have seen her on Barney. I hope her rehab stint goes better than Lindseys.

Selena Gomez

Disney Star from The Wizards of Waverly Place

Fresh faced Selena from The Wizards of Waverly Place not only has a adorable clothing line, but is also expected to appear in a new movie this year called Monte Carlo. Recently seen snuggling up to Justin Bieber, she is sure to have big fat Red-Xs on her face in every pre-teen wall in the country.

Shia LaBeouf

Disney Star from Holes

A son of carnival clowns, Shia was in the Disney Movie Holes. Since then he has started in Indiana Jones, Transformers, and Wall Street. He is a man of many talents and we expect to see more big blockbuster films with him soon.

Movies to see this Year

There are tons of Movies to see this year and with 2011 barely heating up, we already see some fabulous contenders for “must sees” in the box office.Last year some of my favorite movies were The Social Network (which I actually just saw but came out last year), Inception (Leo!), and Tangled.

Here are a few cant miss:

Movies to see this year

Rango

Release Date: March 4th

Leave it to good old Johnny Depp to bring life into Rango. I watched a making of the movie and literally the actors act out the scenes while speaking in them.

[learn_more caption="Plot" state="open"]A chameleon that aspires to be a swashbuckling hero finds himself in a Western town plagued by bandits and is forced to literally play the role in order to protect it. [/learn_more]

Watch trailer and clips here.

The Adjustment Bureau

release date: March 4th

Featuring mega star Matt Damon, the premise of this movie is based on a futuristic novel that suggests reality is nothing more than an illusion. I agree.

Sucker Punch

Starts: March 25

I have already seen the commercials for this must see movie. But its kinda must see for men since most of the women are scantily clad. This is an action/fantasy film that takes place in the mind of a mental patient. Vanessa Hudgens appears.

Water for Elephants

Appearing: April 22nd

Water for Elephants was an absolutely fabulous novel that was written around a vet for the circus. While I am sure the movie is going to have a hard time topping the already spectacular book, it doesn’t hurt that Robert Pattison will be in it.

The Tree of Life

Appearing: May 27th

Heading into the box office in time for Memorial Day, the Tree of life is about a family of 3 boys in the 1950′s, whose eldest son witnesses the loss of innocence. Brad Pitt and Sean Pean are sure to bring a serious performance.

Cowboys and Aliens

Appearing: July 29th

I guess this is a different plot than Cowboys and Indians! This movie that takes place in 1870 puts Cowboys and Aliens against each other. Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig make it worth the attend.

[box type="info"]A spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. A posse of cowboys are all that stand in their way.[/box]

Anonymous

Appearing: Sept 30th

Not so easy to find additional material on this movie, but its a thriller about who actually wrote Shakespeare’s plays.

New Zodiac signs?

What? what? New Zodiac signs?

I have spent my entire life a “Gemini” and now they tell me I’m a Taurus. Not just that, but there is a new red-headed step child of the zodiac family that is being introduced- Ophiuchus.

Huh?

Identity crisis’ abound everywhere (especially on twitter) as all of us schizophrenic personalities that were once thought of as twins, scramble for an excuse to be bi-polar.

I guess now I can pick the horoscope that I like the best in the morning.

New Zodiac Signs List

Capricorn – Jan 20 to Feb 16
Aquarius – Feb 16 to Mar 11
Pisces – Mar 11 to Apr 18
Aries – Apr 18 to May 13
Taurus – May 13 to Jun 21
Gemini – Jun 21 to Jul 20

So did you inherit the weird sign that no longer carries a horoscope?

Crazy arrests & prison sentences; Unusual Arrests

I actually went to college for Criminology and while I don’t use my degree, I am still very interested in the law. It kinda cracks me up for what people get arrested for now a days. Cops and Judges Gone Wild with weird arrests are not so unusual.

Here are a few

Crazy Weird Arrests and Prison Sentences

Do you agree with these arrests?

1) Kidney Donation for Parole

My husband was just telling me about this last week. These two sisters are in prison, both serving life sentences, for an $11 armed robbery. One of the sisters needs a kidney. If the other sister gives it to her, they are both get out.

2) Charged with Hacking Wife’s Email

I am sure many spouses can relate. Leon Walker is facing a sentence for hacking his wifes email an could face a serious sentence if convicted. I get privacy and all of that, but I cant believe we hog the system for this crap. Let them get divorced or something.

3) Throwing Tomatoes

A man in Minnesota was convicted for throwing tomatoes at Sarah Palin. Really, there could be worse things. He has been banned from the Mall of America for one year. That must suck around Christmas time.

4) Glass Eating

Mary Evano plead guilty to eating glass in trying to file insurance claims. I honestly think the passing of the glass in her system was probably punishment enough

5)  Stealing a Beer

Paul Baldwin stole a $1.99 beer and got 1 year in jail. I hope that was the best beer in the freaking world.

A few more if you want to see how bad our system really is…

Best Western films: List of the Best

I personally never watch Western Films, but they are commonly referred to as some of the best films out there. No other genre is more “American” or more related to than the roots of a cowboy, a gun, and a one horsed town. Classically, cowboys and Indians are often played forward by little kids and are rooted in the most basic of history.

There have been lists and lists of the best western movies and films out there and we have compiled top lists of other media sources claiming the ones you should be investing your popcorn in..

List of Best Western films

Stagecoach

The plot: Passengers take a cross-country trek during an Apache uprising. There’s some terrific action, but the real thrill is in the interplay of the characters. Who directed it?

My Darling Clementine’

The plot: A chronicle of the friendship of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday and the famous shootout at the O.K. Corral.

‘Shane’

The plot: When local farmers are persecuted by a ruthless cattle baron, a former gunfighter must once again strap on his weapons.

‘The Searchers’

The plot: A racist Civil War veteran mounts a years-long search to find the tribe who killed his brother’s family and kidnapped a young girl. This was director John Ford’s letter of apology to American Indians.

The Wild Bunch’

The plot: Running out of lawless frontier, a bank-robbing gang flees to Mexico and gets involved in the 1917 revolution on behalf of a despicable general with the federales.
The gang:

McCabe & Mrs. Miller’

The plot: A bumbling gambler decides to build a sporting house in a Northwest mining town. With a professional madam, he creates such a going enterprise that soon thugs representing big business show up to take over.

Dances With Wolves’

The plot: In the last days of the Civil War, a Union officer is sent to a remote post on the prairie and is adopted by a band of Lakota Indians.
The Indians:

‘Unforgiven’

The plot: An apparently irredeemable bad man comes out of retirement to collect a reward offered by a maimed prostitute for the murder of her attackers.

‘Open Range’

The plot: Cattle drivers run into trouble when they try to graze on ground claimed (illegally) by a powerful landowner.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford’

The plot: This morally vexing yarn depicts Jesse James as an increasingly paranoid killer who’s a danger to everyone.
