Rayovac Powers Your Memories

Now I know that the holiday break is almost over (around here, thank the Lord) and your kids are ready to go back to school (let me repeat, thank you) but the season itself has yet to come to a close.

With New years Eve tonight (happy new years!) and the fact that Christmas presents have barely broken through the packaging, there is no doubt that you will want to capture all their sweet faces and delight while they are playing with new bikes, toys, and dressed up in the last of the Christmas dresses.

I am so going to miss the Christmas dresses!

For me, there is NOTHING worse than going to pick up a camera and finding it dead. And to be honest, I have done it a million times because I use it so often that sometimes I don’t even realize till it doesn’t turn on, that it needs a battery change.

Make sure that your camera doesn’t fall flat by having Rayovac Rechargables on standby. Pop the old ones out and into the charger and have a new set all charged. If you exchange back and forth, you will never be like me and miss a moment!

Did you know that:

—————————

  1. Rayovac Rechargeables are a great way to keep digital cameras powered up this holiday season
  2. Rayovac Everyday-Use Rechargeable batteries can take up to 300 photos per charge—that’s 8 times more than competitors’ lithium batteries
  3. Rayovac Everyday-Use and Platinum Rechargeables offer more power, less waste and less money!

—————————

Of course when you are off to get a set, we dont want to leave you without some coupons. I know how those christmas bills are piling up. I refuse to look at my bank account till my taxes come in..ha!

So you can get coupons just by signing onto your facebook account and “liking” Rayovac. Then print and done!

(pssstt…click here to go automatically)

Of course for more information on batteries and the right batteries, including rechargeables, for your household products, you can head over to Rayovac and discover what best suits your needs:

Platinum

Rayovac Platinum Rechargables will stay charged longer—two to three times longer than standard NiMH rechargables. Take 400 photos per charge with AA Platinum rechargables—16X more than competitors’ lithium batteries. That’s more power, less waste… and less money.

Everyday Use

And that’s with more power, as AA rechargables can take up to 300 photos per charge—that’s 8X more than competitors’ lithium batteries. You’ll charge and reuse these batteries up to 500 times, reducing waste and saving money.

Have any questions? Stop by Rayovacs facebook and dont forget the batteries these season!~

Last Chance! Facebook app Fun!

If you celebrate Christmas, Happy Christmas Eve and if you dont, happy Holidays! I wanted to remind everyone that its your last chance to participate in the Blue Mountain facebook application. Why you are strumming your fingers on the desk wondering when Santa is going to arrive (check out my NORAD tracker post!), you still have time to take a 4 person question and let your facebook friends and followers know exactly where you fall in the Got Joy App.

Got Joy?

Its really easy. All you do is head over, like the page (you will be in good company with the other 50K+ fans), and then go to the GOT JOY tab and slide the questionnaire to the answer that suits you most.

Here is a sample question:

Santa’s Helper

I was “Santas Little Helper” which today I really feel like. I went to Toys R Us (Yes, I’m nuts) AND Best Buy (Double Nuts) to finish up some last minute (read: slacker) Christmas shopping. Maybe had I Followed the Christmas tips I see on the page I wouldn’t have delayed so long!

Thats it! Dont delay..see you on facebook.

Big, Wet, Holiday Smooches!

Official NORAD Santa Tracker

Santa can be tracked on the Official NORAD Santa Tracker! He is right now on his way around the world dropping off presents for kids and parents alike.

(and in our house, our four rotten cats!)

You can track his progress with the help of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) which you can find at the NoradSanta.org

As I am writing this post, Santa is in Tanzania

[learn_more caption="How Norad Santa Got Started" state="open"]NORAD started the tradition after a local store’s advertisement for kids to call Santa on a special “hotline” included a misprinted telephone number. Instead of reaching Mr. Kris Kringle, the number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief’s operations “hotline.”

The Director of Operations, Colonel Harry Shoup, received the first “Santa” call and had his staff check radar data to see if there was any indication of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Indeed, there were signs of Santa, and children who called in were given an update on Santa’s position. Thus, the tradition was born. [/learn_more]

You can also track  Santa in these places:

Have fun! This seems like a great Holiday Memory Tradition!

Unique Holiday Traditions

Our family doesn’t have a ton of unique holiday traditions, but there are tons of people out there that celebrate with a laugh or a warm hearted tradition. I am so excited Christmas is tomorrow I cant stand it! I have to do one last trip to Toys R US (I know, I’m a glutton for punishment) but thats it.

All done!

So here are a few unique holiday traditions that are celebrated out there:

1) Food!

So man people have a food tradition. From gingerbread house decorations to breaking bread, there are so many ways you can celebrate with food on a holiday.

Christmas Day Eve was and still is a fast day in our family of 14. Only three of us left, but supper always consisted of a pasta with sardines or anchovies, a green olive salad with sweet red onions and of course a red or white wine. Italian cookies were dessert.
—- Joseph Mancuso, Erie, Buffalo, N.Y.
In our house, we grab Pizza on Christmas Eve because of all the baking and cooking that goes on on Christmas Day. Its a time for everyone to get a break. I like $5 pizzas from Little Caesars and a great big coke!
(btw, my favorite go to recipe site for coming up with a meal plan for the holidays? www.food.com )

2) New Fangled Christmas Exchanges

Everyone in the family brings a few gifts to Christmas dinner. All gifts are placed in the center of the room. Then the host deals out a deck of playing cards with each family member getting 3-4 cards depending on the number of family members in attendance. The host takes a second deck of cards and begins calling out the cards. As your card is called you choose a gift, but don’t open it. Once all gifts are chosen, each player who still has a card can then steal from those that have gifts, but they must say, “Ain’t it a shame.”
Each player must end up with at least 1 gift. Once all the cards have been called, the presents are opened, starting with the eldest family member. After all the presents are opened, the trading begins. Many times the same ugly nutcracker appears year after year and is disguised in fancy wrapping paper.
—- Carole, Mays Landing, N.J.
We are doing something similar at both of our parents house this year. We are having a “dirty santa” exchange and at one house are bringing a present that is $10 and under and one $20 and under. We all get a number and the person w/ the lowest number pulls first and opens. The second can steal their present or open a new one. The person with the highest number pretty much has their pick of all the presents or the last one. Last year I ended up with a fly swatter.
Seriously.

3) Christmas in a unique location

My fiancee and I always spend the week of Christmas at the beach in Destin, Fla. It’s a great way to reconnect and avoid the stress of family and parties. We have Christmas dinner at a wonderful restaurant every year. So there is no cooking or cleaning. Nothing all week but peace, quite, privacy and the best sunsets ever.
—- Anonymous, Dallas

This year I actually WILL be on the beach. My in laws rented a beach house for Christmas weekend. Its local (we all live on the panhandle) but we will be celebrating in sand. Fun!

Are there any particular traditions you have this year?

My friends and family love the Pics and Wishes card!

The other day I was showing everyone how the pics and wishes card was so cute! A few highlights were that you could not only send and create your card with ease including photos of your family moments, but also include your voice, video, and even a heartfelt letter.

Here is an example of the layout I chose before I filled it up with photos. I prefer simple and focused rather than a total scrapbooking feel. As you can see on the left hand side, you can select the greeting you want, add your name, add photos from your facebook or your computer and continue to really personalize so it perfectly fits who you are!

My husband really loved the usage of this card online. With our busy schedules, its important that we have the ability to send cards on the fly. Being able to drop photos in and call to voice (which is great for kids), it was the perfect fit for our family to send to our friends and relatives.

Especially when you are someone like me who has totally delayed Christmas Holiday cards to the point of nonexistence.

Some of my friends said:

  • * Wow! I cant believe how big Charlotte is getting! Its great to see that photo of you two
  • *Trisha, I am used to not getting a card from you, so this was a wonderful surprise. Thanks for sending it over!
  • *How beautiful! Where did you get this?
  • Omgosh, this is SO CUTE.

I am a complete computer nerd, so anything I can do to maintain an online presence means it actually gets done! If you sign over to American Greetings you can get a free trial or sign up for only $20 a year. Its not only an inexpensive way to keep in touch with your family, but if you find that its not all you think it is (and it will be!), you can cancel before your trial is done.

Don’t forget that you can create your own card through American Greetings and impress (and love) your family by going to American Greetings here and having some fun with the creation process!

Remember, even with just one day left, its not too late to get a move on! Let me know how you like the process and the cards you sent!

Too late to send a card? Nope!

I am probably the last person on earth that doesn’t send Christmas cards. Mainly the expense of stamps makes me want to hurl, but also addressing 50 cards at my dining room table makes my fingers cramp just thinking about it. Being a blogger sorta makes me techy and online E-cards is one thing I can actually get done. Create. Cut and Paste email. And done.

Its like an easy button that doesn’t make grandma mad.

This year, if you are like me and you have not and never will get around to sending a card in the mail, or if you sent your cards and forgot your 2nd cousin and your husbands BFF from college, save yourself some time and send out an ecard. Now e-cards are good for all occasions. It doesn’t have to be a holiday season, but the holiday cards, in my opinion, are always the cutest.

Do you have a holiday budget?

I have to admit that I often just spend without noticing the bank book. I am one of those “put on the credit card and pay off next month” people. 99% of the time it works and with our credit card point system, I generally make money in the process. But the months it doesn’t work so nicely are around the Nov-January when the budget blows up well past what I earn to what I have to spend.

Enter Gift Cards

I have talked about gift cards a lot on MomDot, and generally when I run a contest its for a gift card. I realize the value of them as a gift and as a recipient. Nothing is easier than giving someone a gift that is perfect. Think about it..they get to pick what they want and shop where you send them.

Now there are millions of stores and millions of websites, but the best place you can send someone a gift card online hands down is Amazon. With almost every product imaginable, and competing companies for the best price, whomever you are buying for this season will be able to choose whatever their heart desires!

The beauty of a gift card for your budget is you can pick the exact amount you want to spend on each person. Do you need $25 for your cousin? $100 for mom? No worries about taxes or spending too little or too much. And Amazon gift cards have NO FEES.

Personalizing your Gift Cards

Giving a gift card can seem impersonal in a lot of ways. No one wants to stand there and say, uh, i didn’t know what to give you so I’m letting you pick it out yourself. HA!  But you can get over that initial awkwardness by dressing up your Amazon gift card code with a FREE E-Card from Blue Mountain.

Now you can turn that perfect gift card gift into a special gift card gift!

While Blue Mountain offers a variety of products that require a membership (and you can get one here if you like), sending a gussied up Amazon gift card is FREE! And MomDot Loves Free!!

Once you have your card picked out, you just hit here:

Then a new page comes up where you can personalize the email,  purchase your card and away it goes all prettified for the holidays!

Head over to Blue Mountain to see all the varieties of Amazon Ecards you can send, they do offer more than just Holiday!

Happy Gifting…psssssst. Only 9 days left. EEK!
