#Day 12: BlogHer

I know, I’m behind! When I get on project duty, I go off schedule here. My Dh just walked by and dropped this on my desk. I have no clue where it was, but I thought was a fun memory.

What happens when bloggers skip class at BlogHer.

This is Kim, Blondie, Kadi, Alicia, Jenna, and I at the Navy Pier.

Even if conferences are not your “thing”, you can use them as a vacation to meet up with your blogging girls and your husband is no the wiser. Just bring home lots of business cards as cover.

(well, except mine who knows I go only to hang out)

Mom’s Nite Out (Nov 13th)

momniteout2Announcement from Kadi Prescott from Womb at the Innsane (and also a momdot admin!):

Mark Your Calendars & Find A Sitter…

Stephanie Piche and I will be hosting a “Mom’s Nite Out” on Friday, November 13th, 2009. All moms are welcome to attend this event. This evening is for moms only…no dads, kids, or annoying in laws allowed (mine are not annoying so they are allowed.)

The good people of E.L.F. cosmetic company will be bringing a whole make up counter for us to have fun with. We will have the chance to shop for makeup, load up on Christmas gifts for our BFFs and enjoy one low shipping cost! I’m hoping to have Eden Fantasys merchandise available and some other cool vendors. As I line up more fun surprises, I will let you all know!

That is not all! We will also be dancing to the sounds of Word Of Mouth, eating yummy appetizers and indulging in some mouth watering cocktails. This is an event you DO NOT want to miss, especially since it is FREE to attend! I will be sending out official E-vites soon with the time and address. If you would like to join us, just drop me an email at: kadirprescott@hotmail.com

Only those ladies on the guest list will be allowed into MNO!

Speaker Dinner signup now open

Speaker Dinner signup now open with EXTREMELY limited seating‏.

From Kelby at Type A Mom Conference:

I am very excited to announce ticketing is now open for the Accents on Asheville Speaker Dinners at the Type-A Mom Conference.

Each of the dinners will provide a unique chance to experience the wonderful local dining scene (to learn more about that or a particular restaurant, be sure to see the local tourism office’s where to eat in Asheville page, or their Foodtopian Society site). If you aren’t already aware, Asheville has a killer local food scene with 60-plus independent restaurants and 45-plus farm to table restaurants. Each dinner has extremely limited seating, so I would not delay booking or you might not get to eat with the speakers you choose (or attend a dinner at all).

Your tickets will include shuttle provided by Accents on Asheville from Crowne Plaza to the restaurants to vibrant downtown Asheville. That night, there will be much to do around downtown, including the weekly drum circle (weather permitting). To book, you must be an attendee of the conference (and attendees can bring a spouse or significant other).

Book your tickets now via secure form.

Mom 2.0 Summit

(can you guess who these twin bloggers are?)texasfix

has been………insane.

Getting here? Insane.

Getting checked in to my hotel? Insane.

Getting to the convention…surprisingly OK, but the 9 month pregnant 13 year old girl sorta freaked me out.

Leaving the convention and going to get my car…..Clark Griswold Insane. You won’t even believe what happened here. Thank goodness I had a blogger that I had kidnapped and was with me at the time.

Can nothing that includes a trip with me ever go smooth? Uh. No. My plane will probably crash on a deserted island destined for time warp on the way to BlogHer in July.

Dilemma: To Conference or Not to Conference

1Where do you take the leap of faith with your blog and start investing your money and time into being something great? Don’t get me wrong. I believe what we provide here, be it friendship, some funny quip, advertising for a blogger or business, is amazing. We all know that networking is half the battle and conferences can really help you take that next step.

I am fortunate enough to work with a really great large press company and just yesterday they offered me their press pass to attend the Mom2.0Summit in place of the person they had that cannot go.

Speakers include Maria Bailey, Guy Kawasaki, Lisa from BlogHer, Kirsty girls….do I need to go on?

Its in Houston.

Houston is 7 hours from me.

Which means, I leave now, get there tonight, and have to foot tonight, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in hotel, plus about 3 tanks of gas and food. So although the $400 ticket is covered, best case scenario, not staying at the hotel the conference is at, I can probably do the trip for $500 out of pocket.

Then my mind swirls. Chris needs an MRI, Charlotte needs her teeth cleaned, our house insurance is changing, her school went up $7 a week and didn’t tell us and we just found out ($7 = $28 a month, it adds up).

I start to talk myself out of it. Is it that important? I’m going to BlogHer in July. What am I going to gain by going to this conference right now. Will it be relationships that will really benefit me the next 5 months? Will I make a return on the $500 I invest or no matter what, will this always just be a little old mom blog. I can be content with that. Its the unknowing that makes it hard.We all know that I have huge goals and some of those require huge connections. Bloggers Give is going great, but needs more fire, I want to continue to open up relationships to share with other bloggers out there and those that are on our forum, what will I learn that can benefit everyone if I go.

The car needs to be looked at, I need to go to the dentist, I still don’t have curtains on the dining room window, Paprika needs to be fixed.

Why must I be so damn logical and realistic all the freaking time.
