Momdot Meet and Greet: For The Love of Baby!

momdot-meetupIt’s that time again, the second edition of the Momdot  Meetup. In case you missed the first posting, the reason this post was started is to highlight new bloggers or bloggers who are interested in getting a little attention and comment love.  As bloggers we all know that it is nice to get noticed and appreciated for all the work that we do and we need to stick together and support one and other.  Alright enough of my soapbox speech and onto the second blogger to be profiled (don’t forget to CONTACT ME if you would like to be part of the Meetup!)

for-the-love-of-baby

Jenna from For The Love of Baby! is one of Momdot’s own forum bloggers and I have to admit she is much cooler and hipper than I am (insert hubby saying: “like that is hard to do”).  If you haven’t had the chance to read over For The Love of Baby! I suggest you do.

I might have mentioned before that I tend to like good writers (duh) and I also really like writers who are true to themselves and show that “realness” in their writing.  Take Jenna, by reading her posts I would consider her to be a funny, caring, well rounded, smarta$$ who enjoys doing reviews and giveaways and isn’t afraid to post what she thinks on her site…yeah for Jenna!

I also have to admit that I am highly jealous of the tattoos and piercings that Jenna somehow manages to rock as a mom of two little girls…Dear Jenna: how do you manage to keep your kids from pulling on your piercings?  I had to take all of mine out after daughter decided to rip out my nose stud.

Enough with the slight jealousy of the tattoos and piercings,  while your over on Jenna’s site, check out her 10+ Great Items of a Kids Travel Kit post.  Do you know that it never occurred to me to get together some things to keep the kids occupied in the car?  Bad mommy…Good Jenna.

Another great article to check out is the WordPress Plug-ins You Must Check Out. Hopefully I am not the only dork who has gotten scared of all the plug-ins available…I like useful lists.  (PS I agree with the All In One SEO, but I still don’t know if I should use it for every post or just the special ones???)

Is everyone impressed?  Cool! Now head on over to For The Love of Baby! and give some comment love and appreciation to this busy mom (and college student) of two little girls.

PS…leave a comment here while you are at it, just so my paranoid self knows that you at least gave me a read through :P

The Fab Fifteen is Going Shopping

going-shoppingI like to shop, and given the fact that 8-9 hours of my day is spent online, you might imagine I find some pretty neat things that your average web surfer wouldn’t come across (unless they knew exactly what to look for).  So, being the good sharer that I am, I decided to point y’all in the direction of 15 pretty cool and nifty products that you really should check out.  And if you like them…buy them!  I assure you they are all really cool.

1.) Stork Magnets:  So you may or may not know that I have spent the last 18 days talking about all things pregnancy and maternity related on my site, as such I have run into some pretty nifty products geared toward pregnant women.  One of my faves is Stork Magnets; they are pregnancy and birth announcement magnets.  Instead of sending out the conventional (and somewhat boring) regular birth announcements, send out a magnet to announce that you are expecting or that you had you baby.  Now that’s trendy.

2.) Twin Birch Bath and Body:  I still love Etsy, even with all the trouble I’ve had I still love handmade, and Twin Birch Bath and Body makes some of the best smelling and sexy massage melts out there.  All the products are handmade, and they range from body lotions to dog shampoos.  A shop worth checking out.

3.) Silly Toes Productions: As both Erin and I can attest, Silly Toes Productions puppets are great. Both of my girls love the puppet we have and Ellie love to have a puppet show; she’s even got a good puppet voice down.

4.) Q.bel: I love chocolate, it would be a sad day in my house if I ever had to give up chocolate, so when I ran across Q.bel I was immediately drawn to their products. Why? Because they are all natural chocolate goodies…now I can feel good about eating chocolate: hey it’s natural!

5.) Noppies: I’d never heard of this clothing company before…most likely because they are a European business, but Noppies makes some of the cutest kids outfits and some of the most stylish maternity clothes I have seen. An added bonus is that for the style, they are really reasonably priced.

6.) This mama wants a fully loaded, tricked out MacBook with tons of graphics software and a portable external hard drive. Who doesn’t? But since that isn’t going to happen and I have to settle for my Dell which hopefully works this time, we are going to be moving on.

7.) Loop-2-Loop: Ellie (my daughter in case you missed it) is potty trained and in panties…which means she has plumber’s crack like nobody’s business, so she needed a belt that would hold her pants up, but let her take them off by herself. The Loop-2-Loop is probably the neatest belt I have ever seen. Go check it out!

8.) The BuckleyBoo: Yeah it has a weird name, but this toy/stuffed animal/educational thing-a-ma-bob is pretty cool. It helps kids learn how to buckle buckles, match patterns and shapes, and it is super soft and great for snuggling.

9.) L’ovedbaby 4-1 Nursing Shawl: I haven’t tried it, but I love the look and the idea behind this product. I happen to be a BIG fan of multi-functional products especially when they are made for moms and babies.

10.) Red Thread Confections: Of course I am drawn to the sweeter things in life…I haven’t tried them…yet, but I will be pointing out out to my hubby. But seriously not only do they made some gorgeous and delicious looking confections (I’ll take the assortment please), but a portion of their proceeds are donated to charity!

11.) smART Quotes For Kids: My multi-functional fetish strikes again. These canvases are perfect for decorating a child’s room or a playroom; not only are they decorative and very pretty and fun to look at, they each come with an inspirational quote. I am a big believer in surrounding kids with positivity (even in art).

12.) Hillcountry Dollmaker: I happen to have a thing for Waldorf inspired dolls, and am absolutely drooling over these one of a kind creations. If I wasn’t SO POSITIVE that the doll would end up colored on, chewed up, dunked in the potty, etc I might think about getting one…for ME.

13.) Spill Proof Potty Chair: So, last weekend we went of a hike and picnic. Being that it is winter the park facilities were closed, but Ellie said she needed to go. Ok, so I was about to introduce her to the freedom of peeing outdoors…except she looked at the ground and wailed “that’s not a POTTY” and proceeded to tell me (loudly) that she NEEDED a potty. (insert image of us driving around like morons until we found the ONE bathroom in the entire park that was open…did I mention it was a state park?) So, I am going to be investing in…a portable potty chair.

14.) Messeez: I hate cleaning our car seats…actually I hate cleaning in general, but cleaning out a carseat stinks. So, why didn’t I think about buying a carseat cover in the first place? Sometimes it appears that I am a little slow. I like the pink flower one. (PS. Yup, I know that there are some people who say that using a car seat cover isn’t a good idea…I really don’t need y’all blasting me for putting it on here. Thanks :) )

15.) Bambina Ballerina: Alright, I should just say first that I had no idea that Trisha’s Bambina was a boutique…I though it was another blog LOL. But, I love these, if my kids had some hair and hairbows we (and by that I mean “I”) would be getting one…and I would probably hang it up and never use it because they are like a work of art. My favorite? The Mid Summer Night’s Dream. And no, I didn’t put this up here to suck up…since I don’t need to suck up for anything…yet ;) .

Fab Fifteen-Super(photo) Blogs

superphoto1For the third in my series of Super(____) Blogs we are now moving on to 15 of the coolest and most interesting photo blogs I have come across. I reached into the back of my mind where the info from that one course of art appreciation lingered and I put it to work.  Sticking with many of the photo blog styles…this is going to be a photo post. So check it out!

Wait…so why don’t the photoblogs below have any pictures with them?  Because I couldn’t copy them. Many photoblogs I ran into had disabled the save picture option, so I tried to bring you a mix of the great blogs who didn’t have their pictures disabled and the great ones that did.

Fab Fifteen-Home of the Super(funny) Sites!

funnyfabLast week was Super(helpful) Bloggers, so to continue the series…this week is going to be Super(funny) Sites.  Now, I am not sure what your sense of humor is, but I happen to like pretty much anything and everything, except for some of the “male humor”  sites like fart and poop jokes; yeah I honestly just don’t get the humor behind it…maybe because I have to deal with poopy butts all day?

So, it’s time to stop chatting and start laughing.  WARNING- You are advised to empty your bladder before reading. I should also mention that some of these are rated above PG…I warned you.

Now go read (…and comment)!

~Victoria

Starcasm.Net
I have to admit there are times when I find it really funny when people rib on celebrities.  Not that I enjoy when people are cruel or seriously mean, but from time to time a little sarcastic celebrity humor is needed. Check out the post on Starcasm’s New Favorite Comment

Redhead Rantings
I have to support a fellow redhead, especially when she is really funny (something which I can only aspire to be). Check out Jen’s hysterical perspective of her every day life. A post to check out? How about her post about her daughter being gifted.

The Offended Blogger
I admit it, some of this stuff is slightly wrong, but oh so funny. If you don’t mind the occasional politically incorrect joke/article this is the site for you. Check out the post titled: I See Colored People. “Go Offend Yourself” people.

The Evolution of Dance
I couldn’t leave it off…the Evolution of Dance is hysterical and since it has its’ own site…it’s my list. Haven’t seen it? WATCH IT! Seen it a couple hundred times like me? WATCH IT AGAIN! And then teach your kids how to do the dance. Ellie has the “I like big butts and I can not lie/all those other brothers can’t deny/that when a girl walks in with a pretty little….” butt shake down pat.

PS. If you missed Trisha and hubby dancing  this you should ask them to do it again!

TiggyBlog
I am currently dragging myself back into my computer chair and trying to wipe up the Coke Zero I spewed when I read this site. It looked kind of boring…until I actually read through it. Looking to expand your curse word repertoire? Check out the New Swear Words Just for You!

Funny Or Die
So, it’s a little odd, (alright this site is a lot odd) but it’s funny odd so that’s ok. Looking for some great motivational posters? Check out the Get Motivated post.

Sarcastic Mom
Lotus was actually recommended to me as a Super(helpful) Blogger, but when I went to her site, I decided that I had to save her for the Super(funny) Sites edition. And with over 1000 subscribers to her site at least some  other people agree she is hysterical. Need proof? Check out the Jack Bauer post.

Attack of the Redneck Mommy
I admit it, I went look specifically with the keyword “redneck” because seriously…sometimes you just need some hick in your life. Well, I didn’t find hick, but I did find this!

Why Women Hate Men
Before you get all uppity and wonder why a woman is man bashing…let me just say this is written by a (straight) man. And what are you going to find on this site? Actual personal ads written by men who are morons socially and women-challenged.  Check out this moron’s personal ad.

The Downloadable Ryan Garns
Need some satire in your life? Check out this site…well written satire that made me crack a smile after getting no sleep last night because my two kids have croup. In honor of Trisha’s post about blogging being like sex check out Live Blog Sex (no it’s not a porn).

Where The Hell Was I?
I admit to having those moments on occasion and that is what drew me to this site. Once I got there it was a non-stop snicker fest. And get this, the author provides you with his own quotes: “Evidently, my notion of what constitutes a party is only recognized by frat boys, National Lampoon writers, and Hugh Hefner.”

Wine & Excrement
I have to admit something, I thought this site was so funny I offered people bonus entries to go read it in a couple of contests. What I didn’t know is that they would think it was real. Opps. Should have seen the scathing comments. SO let me make this clear: this is a PARODY site…well written and totally hysterical, but a PARODY site. This is the “article” that people got all bent out of shape over.

This Ain’t No Effin Mom Blog
I don’t know if she doesn’t like mom blogs, but that’s OK…her site is funny enough for me to forgive her. Highly sarcastic and usually accompanied by pictures, the articles appearing here are great for the sarcastic minded. Here’s one I can really relate to: Tune in Toyko ( o )( o ) Stimulus Package.

Frogs in my Formula
Random musing are usually funny, and these random musings fall into the really funny category. These aren’t off the wall musings; they are reflections of everyday life written by a funny person. Want to know more? Check out the How to Make Friends When You Are The New Girl.

Tales From Labor and Delivery
I had to think long and hard about putting this one on here, mostly because she no longer posts and it is inactive. But, this blog contains over 40 of the funniest TRUE stories I have read out there. So, I included it. Seriously, there are times when I wonder about the human race.

The FAB FIFTEEN

The Fab Fifteen will be brought to you weekly by guest writer Victoria. Please visit her site at Life Starring Ellie and Eve.

fab15_2-1Today I am giving you some of my favorite blogs for moms (and dads)…I was tempted to list  my site 15 times, but I then decided that since you probably already know how wonderful, trendy, totally great and cool I am, and I should introduce you to some that you might not know, or that you may have lost in the vastdom that is the ‘blogosphere’.  All these sites are on my faves for various reasons, but they are all well written and informative. Most of them specialize in reviews and giveaways! So without further ado let me introduce you to this week’s Fab Fifteen:

BLOG_DESCRIPTION Meet Cool Baby Kid if you already haven’t.  Cecelia has some great gear reviews and she is currently having a  giveaway for a Buzz diaper bag backpack. Cool Baby Kid also has 2 counterparts in the form of Ask Baby Kid and Smart Baby Kid.

I love stuff, pretty much any kind of stuff…and I love that fact that Goodies For Mom is a one stop shop for reviews, articles and giveaways for all sorts of great stuff.  A one stop shop?  That puts it at the top of my list of sites that people should visit.

Keeper of the Cheerios With two cute kids, some great looking reviews, and some fun giveaways why wouldn’t Keeper of the Cherrios be on my list of favorites?  Miranda keeps it fun and informative with her reviews and provides some good commentary of life in general.

The Not-So-Blog Bridgette’s blog was a fave of mine even before I was tapped to write these articles, so I am putting it out there.  If you haven’t been to The Not So Blog Blog you really should check it out!  Why?   Well the design for one, but if that doesn’t do it for you, how about real mom reviews and free stuff to win, that should get you going!

Mommy In Pink Yes, as a mom of two girls I tend to look towards the pink in life, and as such I happened across Mommy in Pink.  While I love the fact that there of are great giveaways and fun reviews, it is the writing style that cracks me up…for an example check out The Barista Wants My Husband!

Ohana Mama Blog I am a relative newbie and I am sure that everyone else out there knows about Sarah’s site…but too bad, this is a list of some of MY favorite sites and Ohana Mama is one of my faves.  She offers a little bit of everything and her graphics and photo collections are great.  I’m only just a bit jealous that she gets to live someplace awesome.

Do I understand the title?  Well…no.  But that doesn’t stop me from liking Christy’s collection of a little bit of everything. Shake the Salt offers reviews, giveaways,  general commentary, and she hosts A Moment For Me (with giveaways!)…and we all know how much busy moms need a minute to relax!

It’s the short and sweet that gets me…maybe because I can’t write short and sweet to save my life, but I love the fact that I can just read for a minute or two, know what Allison thinks, and be done. If you are a fan of short and sweet, Petite Elephant is right for you.

The Mom Buzz Hello competition, I still love you. (if you have no idea what I am talking about check out the Dottie Awards here on Momdot).  Erin at the Mom Buzz offers great reviews along side her commentary.  And if you haven’t checked out the smiling frog -you need to. I think it might be one of the funniest graphics I have ever seen.

So……..if it has the word “goody” in the title it must be good, right?  With a little bit of everything and some great information all over, the Goody Blog is a must have on your blog roll.

Need A Little Bliss in your life?  With a laid back and relaxed attitude towards review writing, Heather provides reviews on everything from popcorn to all natural childrens’ heating pads.

Confessions of a Pioneer Woman
Have you ever met someone who lives in the country…no I don’t mean the sub-burbs I mean the real honest to goodness country?  Well Ree does and this is the story of her life, complete with pics, reviews and giveaways!

BabyLuxe {daily}
Providing reviews and giveaways on some pretty awesome baby gear, Dana and Erin are my heros.  I love the products they review and it helps a lot that Dana is wonderful and ever so helpful to the newbie that is me. Check them out to find new friends!

Dear Dr. Moz
Meet the Moose if you haven’t already.  Offering reviews, contests and  posts about some of the more weird interesting baby products out there, Dear Dr. Moz is a good place to get a masculine feel.

Mamanista
With the words “chic” and “practical” in the subtitle how can you resist?  Well, I couldn’t. Especially since I am not known for being the most practical person alive…and yes I found some great gear that could help me.  This site offers a lot of information for just about everyone out there.
