New Dreamworks Dragons DVD

New Kids DVD Alert!

Coming November 15th, 2011 you can get your hands on a new combo DVD pack that brings the fun from How to Train your Dragon back into your home with all new stories.

The epic story begun in the Academy Award® nominated worldwide box office hit How To Train Your Dragon continues with the groundbreaking new DREAMWORKS DRAGONS Double DVD + Online Video Game Pack, taking flight November 15, 2011.  One of the best reviewed films of 2010*, How To Train Your Dragon enchanted audiences the world over with its captivating and original story boasting fire-breathing action, heroic deeds and heartfelt laughs.  These three exciting experiences come in one highly-affordable package just in time for holiday gift-giving, available in both Blu-ray and DVD.

Most kids love the same characters over and over again, so like the Scared Shrekless pack, this new double pack of DVDs  gives kids familiar faces like Toothless and Nightfury, in two all new features.

We had just a little fun with our movie night…not sure if Phoenyx (or the cat) could really “get into” their roles though:

GIFT OF THE NIGHT FURY
THE DRAGONS ARE BACK in the exciting next chapter to the Academy Award® nominated film, How To Train Your Dragon.  The epic story of Hiccup and Toothless continues as they take flight in a thrilling, all-new adventure to discover an island of never-before-seen dragons.  Explosive action and fire-breathing excitement collide in this exhilarating story.

BOOK OF DRAGONS
So you want to be a dragon trainer do you?  Prepare yourself for adventure, excitement and training as Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless and Gobber tell the legend behind the Book of Dragons and reveal insider training secrets about new, never-before-seen dragons.

You can get yours starting on November 15th and perfect in time for a “stocking” stuffer.

A Princess for a Princess

Every year about this time I start thinking…no, fretting, about Christmas. I take a good hard look at all the toys that Charlotte has, what she plays with and equally what she ignores and I try to come up with something age appropriate that wont gather dust under a bed or in a corner.

I am sure you can relate.

The past few years have been hit or miss.

Dollhouse…miss on the year I bought it, hit two years later (go figure), horses…hit….play guitars…total miss just two days after opening.  But one thing I can almost 100% count on to be a “OOH COOL!” moment is a Princess. My daughter loves Barbies, dress up, dolls, and anything that is remotely “princessy”. And while I could easily turn to a video game or movie, I absolutely love to see her imagination at work with all the other little girls in the neighborhood and insist on real toys for her toy room.

Disney Fairytale Ultimate Dream Castle

Recently I had an opportunity to bring home (provided complimentary by Mattel to facilitate this article) the Disney Fairytale Ultimate Dream Castle and four beautiful princesses. Even though I would have loved to see her light up Christmas morning, seeing her face when the castle arrived at the door was just as priceless. Of course with two other neighborhood girls that were over at the time, there was a lot of chattering, excitement, and plenty of girly anticipation.

There is something about Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, and Tiana that will do that to the tween and under set.

Aww, heck, it does it to me!

Assembly: Opening the box was hard. I know that sounds funny, but that glue was sealed TIGHT. Once out of the box, the castle had to have many parts like the stairs, flooring, and castle tops installed. The castle itself came fully furnished but some of the furniture pieces also had to be assembled. All of it was relatively easy and required no tools. If you are planning this item for Christmas, I highly recommend presetting it up before the morning. There is nothing like WAITING for someone to put it together after its opened.

Assembly took approximately 20 minutes on our end.

Dolls: The Princess dolls are not included in the set, but there are themed rooms for Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, and Tiana. We also noticed the elevator looks like a magic carpet, so I would also say Jasmine. Go ahead and buy as many princess dolls as you can afford for maximum fun!

Castle: The castle is a pretty sturdy piece of construction as a whole. Its about 3 feet tall and needs a few batteries to make bubbling bath sounds, a musically chiming doorbell, and a ballroom floor that sings when dancing. There are also some other cute features like flying fairies (Sleeping Beauty) and a staircase that has the ability to attach Cinderella for her glide down the flight of stairs.

Details:

The quintessential Disney Princess castle that every little girl will want under the Christmas tree! A fairytale in itself, the castle stands three stories tall, featuring iconic rooms themed to each Disney Princess from Belle’s dining room where the dolls can “eat” to Ariel\’s under-the-sea bathroom with a seashell tub delivering real bubble sounds. Explore all the rooms for royal fun! Dolls not included.

  • ARP:  $149.99
  • Age:  3+
  • Available: June 2011

So far this toy is a huge, huge hit in our toy room. The only thing I think might have been better is a trip to Disney itself…which there is still time for.

*grin*

What toys are you planning on getting your kids this holiday season?

Charlotte is scaring Phoenyx Shrekless! (closed)

Halloween is one of those holidays that kids and adults can get into alike. Aside from dressing up to anything you want and endless candy binges (I personally buy the candy I like so I can sneak some prior to October 31st…), there are also the many scary flicks that really get everyone into the mood.

And while I have already had my fill with Scream4 this week, there are much tamer Halloween movies that the little ones can cozy up to.

I doubt Charlotte would be into Jason or Freddy, kwim?

MAKE HALLOWEEN A THRILLER NIGHT WITH
TWO SPOOK-TACULARS FROM DREAMWORKS ANIMATION!

All You Need for the Perfect Fright Night, Halloween Party Double DVD Pack Includes  All-New Shrek-ed Out Parody of “THRILLER”

In Scared Shrekless, the gang gathers to celebrate Shrek’s favorite holiday: Halloween!  But instead of the usual tricks or treats, Shrek ups the ante and challenges everyone to spend the night telling scary stories—the last one to be scared Shrekless wins.  The DVD includes spooky spoofs on classics horror movies and features the voices of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and
Antonio Banderas.

Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space finds Susan, B.O.B., The Missing Link, and Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D. dispatched as special operatives to investigate a mysterious alien presence on Halloween.  As the night unravels, innocent-looking pumpkins are revealed for what they really are – mutant aliens!  Luckily the monsters are there to smash the mutants’ wicked scheme to take over Earth.  Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space features the star-studded cast of voice talent from the original hit film including Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Kiefer Sutherland and Rainn Wilson.

So when Scared Shrekless arrived with a double DVD pack of characters we already know and love, it didn’t take Charlotte and I  long time to get into the pre-movie spirit and leave Phoenyx wondering what kind of family he was born into….

This is what happens when you are a newborn and can’t say no…

Charlotte’s opinion on the Scared Shrekless 2 DVD Pack when asked if she enjoyed the movie: “YES!! Can we watch it again?”

Chris’s opinion as the daddy that sat through the movie: “This new Shrek movie is in the same tradition as the other movies and its short so you can put it on before bedtime without it taking up too much time. It was cute like the others.”

Don’t take our word for, check out the trailer yourself (and this totally warms me up for Puss in Boots!):

You can purchase Scared Shrekless on Amazon for a great price of $8.49 (and its on Prime, so free shipping) or check your local stores.

Halloween Costumes Discount Code

This is Halloween at my house last year, where my little no-toothed diva dressed up as a witch:

(don’t be fooled by this smile….this witch doesn’t know how to clean her room)

Last year we went through like 500 costume ideas for my then 5 year old before she stuck on this one. She absolutely loves Halloween (I’m guessing its the allure of free candy) and has been asking me about it for the past 4 weeks.

This year when I asked her what kind of costume she wants, she said Wonder Woman. Honestly, I have no clue where she is getting it. To my knowledge she doesn’t even have a clue who Wonder Woman IS. Heck, I think Wonder Woman is before MY time.

But once a kid decides something, as you probably know if you have kids or have ever been around them, they have decided.

So Wonder Woman it will be…unless she changes her mind.

Which is likely.

Now this year you will have tons of choices on where to purchase your Halloween Costumes and if you are anything like me, EVERYTHING is easier to purchase online. I know with a newborn in my house, I am on the “please deliver to my front door” kick from now till age 3.

Speaking of little Phoenyx, I get to dress him up this year. *cough* I love torturing my kids before they are old enough to tell me now. Its like a special parental privilege.

The only problem is that I’m finding that  infant costumes come in a 0-6 month age range . I’ll have to wait further along to see how big he gets before I get him one. Ideally I would love to have him match Charlotte, so if she stays on the Wonder Woman theme, this, or something similar, will be my choice:

Mom Quotes that are Inspiring

Becoming a mom is one of the most wonderful and life-changing moments in a woman’s life.

You are given a small creature that will forevermore belong to you, be influenced by you, and fill a spot in your heart that could never be replaced by anything else. I love to share inspirational quotes on my site, especially quotes about parenting, new beginnings, or about love and life. Now that Trisha is going to be a mom a second time, some quotes honoring motherhood seems like a great idea.

Here are some thoughts that were always very inspiring to me..

Its so funny because movies have come a long, long way. Seriously, my daughter has 45 VHS Disney tapes. The original ones..the ones I watched when I was her age and younger. My awesome grandmother kept them all! I look back and I still absolutly LOVE them.

My favorite singing voice is The Little Mermaid (duh) and my favorite movie is Sleeping Beauty. A prince? A Girl? Falling in love? Well, thats not a good example. They are all like that. But that’s my favorite one of all time.

“I know you……….you walked with me once upon a dream……….”

Charlotte loves going to the big screen. I cannot wait to take her to this new movie. I bet it will be insane the first weekend!! Kids movies are getting quite the welcome at the theater.

Do you plan on going with your kids?

Barbie A Fairy Secret

Charlotte’s a big Barbie fan. Honestly, what little girl isn’t?

I used to have about 100 Barbies myself. I loaned them to a neighbor girl and she broke all their heads off. I think Barbie got wise to that practice cause they started making  a replaceable head Barbie. Unfortunately it was 25 years past my time!

I started counting Charlotte’s Barbies the other day and got up to 24 before I gave up. We also own a few Barbie movies and while some of the content can be a little older than what I prefer her to listen to (ie love, boyfriends, etc) overall I find that the messages are good and I dont get bored watching as a parent.

Out as of yesterday Barbie is staring in a new movie!

A Fairy Secret

Join Barbie® in an all new adventure as she discovers the magical world of GlossAngeles in “Barbie™ A Fairy Secret.” When Ken® is flown away to a secret world, Barbie® discovers that two of her dearest friends are in fact undercover fairies.Together, they embark on a whimsical journey to the fairy world not far away.

new music video, featuring an original song from the movie.
