I get up this morning and all is silent except for the cat outside my door screaming at me to wake up. I open the door, already knowing Charlotte is up since the cat is let out, and go to the stairs.
She is at the bottom.
Holding the fish.
My orange feisty fish.
She says “Mommy, his tail is gone”.
I flew down the stairs and yes…my little lifeless fish was there in her hands. I took it and ran it to the tank.
Floater.
There is clearly a murder scene everywhere with water from the tank strewn all over my desk and chair. She reached her hand in the tank and caught my little fish, presumably by the tail, and held him till he died.
I was sure the cat was trying to tell me something.
I have never been so pissed off in my life. I loved that stupid little fish and even worse, he has only been in our house for 2 weeks. We have a pair of male/female Molly’s and this was the male. He liked to pick on the other fish a lot and he was entertaining. He was the only fish with personality in the tank.
And nothing was wrong with him when I went to bed last night.
A few weeks ago we realized our prettiest fish was also missing. We found his little head in there being eaten by snails and his tail was also…sadly…missing. We thought the snails caught him (they are huge).
Its clear now that his fate was far worse….it was Charlotte.
What exactly is the punishment for 2 Premeditated Fish Murders?
