Today’s topic is “6 things on your wishlist this year.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

This is an easy list for me because my sister just asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year.  It was tough to think of things that were affordable and not just dream gifts . . . like a new Coach bag or a new mattress set!   I did manage to come up with a few things though.  :P

Here are my six for this week:

1)  Dragon Naturally Speaking Software

2)  A tripod for my RCA Small Wonder video camera.

3)  The Proposal on DVD

4)  ”Tales of the Slayer:  Volume 1″ by Yvonne Navarro

5)  A month’s supply of Andy Capp’s Hot Fries

6)  A suitcase to use when I attend Blogher next year.

Mom Bloggers getting paid $200 for POSITIVE reviews?

Move over FTC and interpersonal mommy blogger wars, there is a new Sheriff in town and its called the Travel Blogger.

And they are pissed.

Apparently Mom Bloggers are stealing their *cough* press junkets and falsifying reviews to make them positive and getting paid for it.

Check out this post that was sent out to the entire Google Travel Writers Group as a factual statement:

If any blogging community is being targeted, it is the mommy blogging group. Never heard of this community? I hadn’t either until a year ago. Large corporations are targeting this demographic of stay at home moms with lifestyle blogs. It is a major source of income for these women as they get paid for reviews. Yes, they are getting upwards of $200 per blog post for positive mentions on their blogs. This in itself is an entirely different subject, but this is a small part of how the FTC decided to update their rules. It affects the travel community because these bloggers have now learned about press trips.

After another mom blogger/travel writer responded and defended mom bloggers from this gossip mongering, the same woman replied, again addressing the entire email chain:

We can respectfully disagree on this particular topic. I have had too many conversations with travel marketing/destination reps who are bit gun-shy when dealing with bloggers. This hesitancy is based on their mommy blogger experiences which have included confidential emails made public and demands for the destination to foot the bill for entire families (referring to airfare). I can only go by the facts as I’ve been told. As with any community or industry, be it travel guide writers or mommy bloggers, it only takes a few bad apples. I’ve attended a small number of the same conferences you’ve been to, and I did hear of mom bloggers accepting cash payment for positive reviews. Fortunate for you that you’ve never met any of them.

——————————————————-

Misinformation much?

I think I may be late to the game. Which one of you is getting paid $200 to put up reviews? Can you send me the contacts?

I would like to quit working for poverty blog level here.

Today’s topic is “6 reasons why you would be doomed if you were stranded on a deserted island all by yourself.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

Not too many people participated last week.  Should I be keeping the topics more PG?

Here are my six for this week:

1)  I would probably die from internet withdrawal.

2)  I would miss my husband and children desperately after about an hour.

3)  I am scared to death of bugs and I’m guessing there could be some big ones on a deserted island.

4)  I can’t swim, so finding a way off the island would be pretty risky.

5)  I would have to become a vegetarian because I probably could never bring myself to hunt for food.

6)  Has anyone ever died from caffeine withdrawal?  I’m guessing that this island wouldn’t have any Pepsi.

Today’s topic is “6 things (good or bad) that you credit your mother-in-law for.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

If you are not married, you can tell us about the closest thing you’ve had to a mother-in-law.  :)

Here are my six:

1)  Teaching my husband that it is okay to leave things wherever he stands, such as his socks by the front door, mail on the dining room table, pants on the safety gate, etc . . .  She always followed him around and picked up after him.

2)  Spoiling my husband as a child.  When money was good, he could have all the toys or designer clothes and shoes that he wanted as long as he stayed out of trouble.

3)  She taught my husband that it is okay to relax first and do his chores later instead of the other way around.

4)  Teaching my husband to be gentle and caring towards women and animals.

5)   Causing my 5yr old to ask me, “If smoking is bad, why does Grammy do it?”

6)  She allowed her children to have a lot of freedom, even at a young age.  My husband said this taught him some important lessons because he made his own mistakes and had to learn these lessons the hard way.

1)  Having all your Christmas gifts bought and wrapped by Thanksgiving

2)  When all the children in the house take a nap at the same time for more than one hour

3)  Everytime I get a new Coach bag (Hey, it only happens about once per decade)

4)  Being completely 100% done with washing and folding every piece of  laundry in the house

5)   Receiving an extra large tax refund

6)  Adopting a dog or cat from a shelter
