2)  ”If you can read this, then you’re invading my personal space.” (In a tiny font)

Today’s topic is “6 sure signs that you are stressed out.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

Hmmm . . . should I go the serious route or the humorous route on this one.  That is indeed the question.

Here are my six for this week:

1)  Your sweet little angels start to sprout horns and tails.

2)  You suddenly have the overwhelming urge to drop the mound of dirty dishes sitting in the sink onto your husband’s head while he is napping on the sofa.

3)  Someone is tightening the vice around the top of your head without your permission.

4)  Your hair starts to shed more than the family pet’s.

5)  You are starting to wonder if someone replaced your bottled water with hydrochloric acid because your stomach sure is burning.

6)  Your husband starts looking at the calendar, wondering if PMS is suppose to last two weeks.

Small Talk Six: 6 Most Useful Websites

smalltalksix-298x300Want to join in? Go here to learn how and to view the weekly Small Talk Six topics for 2010.

Today’s topic is “6 websites you find to be the most useful.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

I think this one will be an easy one for most people.  I looked on my Google Chrome history page, which shows thumbnails of the eight sites I visit the most.  I don’t think that the ones I visit the most are necessarily the ones I find most useful though.

Here are my six for this week:

1)  MapQuest Driving Directions (I can’t find my way out of a shoebox, so this site is essential for me.)

2)  Yahoo News Weather (I always check this site so I know what clothes to lay out for my son for the next school day.)

3)  Amazon.com (I can find reviews for almost any product on this site, even the most obscure items.)

4)  Google Docs (This is such a useful way to collaborate with other people online.)

5)  Microsoft Office Online Clipart (This site is great for finding free clipart for small personal projects.)

6)  MomDot Community Forums (I can almost always find the answers or advice I need from other MomDot community members.)

Small Talk Six: Top 6 Baby Names You Considered

smalltalksix-298x300Want to join in? Go here to learn how and to view the weekly Small Talk Six topics for 2010.

Today’s topic is “6 names you liked, but opted not to name your child or children.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

My children’s names are Jake, Luke, and Makenzie.  There were tons of names that were discussed between my husband and myself.  Most people stayed out of the discussion, except my mother-in-law, whom we had to placate with our choice of middle names.  We stood our ground for the first names of our children though.

Here are my six for this week:

1)  Hunter (My husband wanted this name and, although I liked it very much, I just could not get the idea of killing animals for sport out of my head.)

2)  Robyn (I once had a 16yr old girl who worked for me with this name.  She just seemed very mature, smart, responsible, and had everything together.  She was very sweet and made a lasting impression on me.)

3)  Jade (I liked this name, but my husband thought it sounded like a stripper’s name.)

4)  Anthony (We considered naming one of our sons after my husband’s maternal grandfather, but we ended up using it for a middle name instead.

5)  Lillian (We wanted to name our daughter after my husband’s maternal grandmother, but his brother beat us to it.)

6)  Katelyn (Makenzie came very close to being a Katelyn.)

Small Talk Six: Words of Wisdom?

smalltalksix-298x300Want to join in? Go here to learn how and to view the weekly Small Talk Six topics for 2010.

Today’s topic is “6 theories your mother or grandmother have shared with you that you would be embarrassed to tell anyone about.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

My mother and grandmother are from a different culture.  Plus my mother has a need to have an explanation for everything.  If there is no explanation for why something is the way it is, then she makes something up in her head.  Some of these are doozies.  :D

Here are my six for this week:

1)  My grandmother told me that I shouldn’t have sex with my husband while I was breastfeeding because the semen gets into the breast milk.

2)  My mother told me that I developed Grave’s Disease because I don’t eat a healthy diet.

3)  My mother told me that it is a mistake to give your children unconditional love because they will have no motivation to behave well.

4)  My mother insisted that after I was treated with radiation that my being in our home would make the house and the air in it permanently radioactive.

5)  My mother insists that my eyesight is so bad, not because of genetics, but because I watched too much television as a child and I use to read books while lying in bed.

6)  My MIL thinks that salt water will cure almost anything, including but not limited to internal wounds, external wounds, and anything to do with a cold.
