Tasty Thursday

Here are some recipes to tempt your palate! These are all from some of our fellow bloggers out there in blog land, so make sure to click on their name (under the recipe) and go visit their sites:

Toffee Dip
1 8oz pkg of cream cheese softened
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 pkg skor toffee bits
~Mix all the above together and serve with apples (or strawberries)

Corn Casserole
One 16 oz. can creamed corn
One 16 oz can whole kernel corn – DRAINED
One 8 oz sour cream
One stick of butter, MELTED
One small box of Jiffy corn muffin mix
~Melt butter. Drain whole kernel corn. Mix all ingredients together and put in a casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

Cream Cheese Crockpot Chicken
Serves 4-6
4-6 boneless chicken breasts,
2 tbsp melted butter,
salt and pepper to taste,
1 package dry Italian season mix (Italian dressing mix),

Sauce: 1 can cream of chicken soup,
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese,
1/2 cup chicken broth,
1 large onion,
Garlic to taste

~Brush chicken with melted butter and sprinkle with seasoning mix. Place in layers in crockpot.
~Cover and cook about 6 hours.
~About 5 hours into chicken cooking time, add all sauce ingredients. Cook chicken in sauce for remaining hour.
~Remove chicken and serve on platter. Pour gravy into gravy boat. Serve with rice or noodles.

- Taco Pie –
1 lb ground beef

1 envelope taco season mix
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup Mexican style shredded cheese
1 1/4 cup milk
3 eggs
3/4 cup Bisquick
1. Cook you meat and onion until the meat is brown. Then drain off excess grease.
2. Add your taco season. You may need to add a little water to throughly coat your meat and onion mixture.
3. Spread the meat mixture into a greased 10 inch pie plate.
4. Sprinkle with your cheese. We use more then 1 cup!
5. Beat the remaining ingredients together in a bowl.
6. Pour this over your meat and cheese.
7. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow cool 10 minutes before cutting

Chocolate Banana Bread
1 3/4 c all-purpose flour 1/4 c cocoa powder
1 c sugar 1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract 1/4 tsp baking soda
2 large eggs, lightly beaten 1/4 tsp salt
4 ripe bananas mashed well 1/2 c unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1/2 c white chocolate chips 1/2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c toasted walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped (optional)
1/2 c brown sugar

~Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place oven rack to middle position. Butter and flour (or spray with a non-stick spray) the bottom and sides of a loaf pan.
~Place the nuts on a baking sheet and bake for about 8-10 minutes or until lightly toasted. Let cool and then chop coarsely.
~In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, bakin gpowder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
~In a medium-sized bowl, combine the mashed bananas, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
~With a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, lightly fold the wet ingredients (banana mixture) into the dry ingredients until just combined and batter is thick and chunky.
~Fold in the nuts and chocolate chips.
~Scrape batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle the top of the bread with brown sugar.
~Bake until bread has risen and a toothpick inserted in the center come out clean, about 55 to 65 minutes. ~Place on a wire to cool and then remove the bread for the pan. Serve warm or at room temperature.

    The chocolate banana bread sounds very yummy! I’ll have to try it out soon.

    We make the corn casserole too, but we drizzle a honey and butter mixture on after it bakes. It makes it a little sweeter and tastes great.

    YUMM that Toffee dip sounds so good! mayb ill make that tomorrow! i just have to get me some skor candy bars!

    Im making tacos tonight, too bad i dont have a pie crush on hand! :( maybe the next i wnat tacos time ill try it out!)– another good way to enjoy tacos is on a pizza- ill email you my recipes one of these days!
