The 2 best phone calls yet (Maria and Google)

Yesterday was an interesting day. Not that every day isn’t an interesting day, but not every day do you get to talk to Maria Bailey and Google.

sm_momtalk_mariaIm going to start with the highlight of my day. Maria Bailey is an author, the brilliant mind behind Mom Select, and also hosts a recognizable pod cast called Mom Talk Radio all while being the co-founder of New Baby. Basically…she does it all. I call her an inspiration or a mentor in so many ways, to so many women. I am very luckily on the list for Mom Select and have been able to have many wonderful opportunities with them throughout the past 6 months and I cant tell you how awesome it is to talk to someone that you look up to.

I think we have all had times where we feel alone, or we feel the Blogosphere is a clique that we are just trying to get our foot in the door somewhere, but Maria’s goal is to really and truly connect women and businesses together and to make an amazing community online. The biggest compliment that I can give her is that she was very real. She is full of ideas, inspiration, goals, and I thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to talk to me and to support MomDot and Bloggers Give.

Talking to Maria was like getting a call from the President….(before he was the most hated man in America)  I encourage you to listen to her podcast which has the largest audience out there-and for good reason. You can twitter her at @momtalkradio . If you have hopes and dreams for your blog and your online networking, getting to know and be a part of BSM media is the first step you need to take.

As if that wasn’t awesome enough, last night I am making dinner and the phone rings. DH answers, Hello? Just a Minute. I say who is it. He says…Rachel, with Google.

GOOGLE? Oh great. I bet they are trying to sell me search engine links or something. Wait. My phone number is unlisted.

Hello! Hi, yes this is trisha. Nice to meet you Rachel (from google, he he).

Rachel called to give me a big fat Congrats on the Walmart win! She found out about it from Youtube, which Google owns, and wanted to see if I would be interested in some media coverage. That should go to show you that Big Brother is always watching, right?

Hello? Have you met me? My name is Trisha, I am a recovering current media whore. Bring it on! The gist is that they want to get some media on it and wanted to see if I would be ok with talking to the newspapers and/or news stations regarding the win, Walmart, etc. We talked about a half hour and she was SO nice and kind. I can see why she is in PR for Google. She wasn’t in a hurry, we chatted about other things other then the win, and she was very genuine. What was kinda cute was that she was telling me her favorite video and it was mine…but she didn’t realize it was my video. I got a big ego slap on the back and that was fun. Be on the look out for me popping up in  a newspaper near you. No, not really, but Ill share with you if something good happens!

Its nice to have that contact too, you never know if that could lead somewhere, right? *cough, Oprah, cough*

Hey Google, I would love to be your Mom Blog Expert. I promise no naughty words. And I need you to bump my Page Rank to a ‘6′.

Just file that in your back pocket, Mkay? Thanks.
