Tide..this sounds like a “review” but its not.

When I was at BlogHer, I was invited to the Tide luncheon (which was very nice). They fed us, gave us a pitch, showed us the new products. Generally I am a Purex girl. I buy whatever is on sale and usually that’s the cheapest one. I have always thought laundry detergent is the same no matter what you spend on it. I may still be right about that, who knows, but this isn’t about the detergent anyway.

Now during that luncheon they demonstrated to us that the new stain release works. Its like these little capsules that dissolve in water that are supposed to get out set in stains. Comes in powder, liquid, or those drop in things like you get for your dishwasher. They even put bowls of water on our table and gave us freshly grass stained napkins to actually test it out at our table. It was pretty entertaining. Even so, you never know if something works for YOU till you get home.

There were samples on the tables and I took some home. Hey, who is going to turn down free laundry soap? Right? Right.

The funny part of this whole thing was that they have partnered with Gymboree on a sort of “keep your clothes newer/longer, fresher, quality, etc.” Gymboree was also represented at the luncheon and they gave out $50 gift cards to go shopping.  Hell ya! I freaking LOVE Gymboree. I am the weirdo that stalks Ebay looking for past lines. I used to actually have a bad addiction to it and was even a member at Gymbofriends. I am a sicko.

So the minute my plane touches down in New Orleans I went shopping.  I figured I had been gone 4 days already, whats another hour alone. I stopped at the outlets on my way home and bought Charlotte some new school clothes with my money. Its incredible fun to shop when you don’t have to pay for all of it. Unfortunately I have no restraint and ended up out of pocket. Oh well, had to be done anyway.

This is Charlotte in her new clothes earlier that day in beanie baby heaven (we won these from McDonald’s). Say it with me….Aww, how sweet.

Then yesterday, before she even gets a chance to wear them to school in a week, THIS happens:

blogher-025

Its chocolate ice cream. I swear she needs a bib.

I almost laughed because it was like a perfect marketing set up. The Gymboree clothes I got and the tide release at BlogHer were going to get a real life testing in my home. So I took a shot before I washed it so I could show you if it really worked or if they were blowing smoke up my behind.

Items used in this impromptu experiment:

  • the washing machine and dryer I am using is the Frigidaire Affinity line
  • laundry soap was Tide HE
  • Stain Release stain booster, liquid version
  • Washed in cold water, rinsed in cold water

The clothing was NOT pretreated. She wore it pretty much all day after this stain and it didn’t come off till about 8:30pm for the wash. I would say about 5 hours of a set in chocolate stain.

This is the result:

Now you cant see it in the shot too well, but there is a very very faint line where the largest stain was, but you would have to be looking for it up close.

I have to say…I am pretty darn impressed.

I was wrong.

The end.

    @ nicole h:
i didnt actually pretreat, i just used the stain remover per directions which is to put in the wash same time as your reg. detergent.

  5. nicole h says:

    1. so would you recommend a pretreat on LARGE stain, then the stain remove in the wash?

    2. let’s NOT discuss the gymbo new york line- i forgot to go online and order the bleeding trench coat when it was STILL in stock. and now unless i want to put my 2 yr old in a size 8, i’m gonna have to haunt ebay as gymbo cant advise if there will be a 2nd order. arrgggggggggg

    3. shout out from LA for mentioning NO airport and shopping in the same sentence. woo hoo- free advertising for our area! :)

  6. Jennifer G. says:

Wow! So perfect that it lined up that way so you could test both products. So glad you shared that info b/c I am like you and always buy the cheapest, what’s on sale. Will definitely consider Tide next time b/c my family’s clothing are always stained w/something!

  7. You should see the stains that Angry Toddler brings home on his preschool clothes. AMAZING. I will have to try that. I’m sure that I have several samples around my house.

Oh, and we love Gymboree in my house. My mom works there, part-time!

  8. Angie says:

That is pretty cool. I’ll have to get some of that because my daughter needs a bib too!

  9. my dh has fallen in love with the eco store’s he soap and oxiclean type stuff…my dh, the man who can step over trash and not notice, noticed his tee shirts coming! i won a giveaway for it. might want to add this to your potential ga list.

Wow, impressive. Nice to hear an honest report form one mom to another. I’m a All girl. We use the free and clear stuff just because my guy breaks out.

  12. Alicia:admin says:

wow…I’m just waiting for the time when the girls get stains on their clothes to use my little stain releasers.

  13. erin says:

Wow and wow – I do like Tide more than Purex. Purex is cheap, that’s all it has in its favor. I wish I could buy more gymboree for the boys. Super jealous of your GC!

  14. Kasey says:

First off…I am a Gymboree addict too! I love, love, LOVE their clothes and search ebay, yardsales and consignment shops for them. They are just sooo darn cute!

But, I HATE when the kids get something on them. I used to only let them wear them when we went out or for something special, but about 3 months into baby #2..that went out the window along with a lot of other rules! LOL

Will try this stain booster for sure! I use the Tide Free HE and love it. It does pretty well alone, but it doesn’t always get out the stains completely. THANKS for passing along!!

  15. That’s awesome! I am saving my tide stuff for a big stain to try it. I was pretty sold at the luncheon.

    very cool Trisha!

  16. MMJ says:

    Great post!

    I love me some Gymbofriends!!

  17. yasmine says:

I wonder if it would get out cherry/raspberry stains, my daughter ruined a few tops this summer

You mentioned your LOVE for Gymboyree before, so whenever my mom tells me she bought something for my kids from there- you pop into my head. lol

  18. Sandy says:

Look’s great! I sure could use that for my kids clothes. They are stain magnets!

  19. That’s pretty darn awesome and stuff.
