Top 50 Most Influential Bloggers and Online Moms

bush_influential

In response to the incomplete work that Nielson did last week, leaving out some of the best of the best (hello, any list that leaves out 5M4M and My Charming Kids did little, if no, research) we are putting out our response and creating the Top 50 most Influential Bloggers and Women Online we feel should have made the list.

Well, 58.

So far.

Why can we do that? Because its our responsibility to correct the injustice of the bloggers left off.

And Cause I said So.

We are not basing this off of stats, technorati, alexa, twitter followers or any other statistics that can be easily manipulated to achieve results but rather basing it straight off of “are you influential in some subset of community online.” Stats equal influence as much as comment entries on giveaways equal how popular your blog is…kwim? (anyone who missed that analogy it means “not at all“)

Some of the blogs we have listed have influence outside just their blog and happen to be editors of  great sites. Some of them are on multi-author blogs and some of them own 5 blogs independently. Some of them are not really know for being blog owners, but are just as influential in the blog community as women leaders.

We realize that this list is terribly incomplete. The reason is that an influential mom online will always be according to the  community of which they are a part of. Online is BIGGER than just twitter and facebook.  There are subsets of places all over the web with phenomenal stand out leaders and some never even know the others exist.

If I left out a leader in YOUR community, let me know!

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER

If I had more time (getting ready for cruise over here, so busy today), I have atleast 50 more that deserve a shout out. This list really deserves to be the Top 100 Most Influential Bloggers and Online Moms.

That seems like a more realistic number.

Who did I miss? Suggest YOUR influential women in the comments!

I know I didn’t deserve to be on the Nielsen list but can I just say it has opened up so many doors for me that now I am able to become a great influence and really try and support other bloggers. I would probably never have found MomDot if it weren’t for some of the opportunities that have been offered to me.

I’m certainly not saying any of these women shouldn’t have made the list, I”m sure most of them should have. But from the other side of the coin I’d just like to say I’m grateful for what I was given because it has helped me grow so much.

I was also really suprised not to see Beth from I Should Be Folding Laundry on the list. Many, many great blogs and bloggers were missing.

1)I hope you had a great trip. Well deserved.
    2) I’m surprised at the number of bloggers not on the Nielsen list – so I’m with you. I wonder what their buzz metrics were and really what they were ranking it on. Was it publicity, number of “press” interviews and links for influence and not just blogeshpere stuff? I don’t know and wonder myself.
    3) I also contemplate if companies and the press are watching how the moms online handle this list of only 50 (small number with how many are out there).
    4) I read through the comments and your list and I’m surprised you would say you don’t know any green bloggers that are “influential” when I’m a green blogger and we have emailed, tweeted and you’re part of the Green Mom Blog Tour (200 mom bloggers spreading the word on green product and companies would be “influential”). Confused and what you said about knowing ZERO and I’m going to quote….

I didn’t see on the post (but perhaps in the upcoming revised list) any so called green mom bloggers. I’ll be annoying and nominate myself, but also Sommer at Green & Clean Mom and Lynn at Organic Mania.

Trisha: Honestly, I just know ZERO “green moms” in the blog community, so i am not the right person to add the influential ones to the list. Ill take suggestions!

    5) I also noted a response in your comments about a good blogger verses a influential blogger and what I wonder if is if we should be looking at popular verses influential. Maybe all three and some cross categories. I don’t know the answer to this and I’m learning with the rest of the bunch trying to sort this out.

For what it is worth, great job on the community, traffic and loyalty you have built. I love your charity work and working towards helping others when it comes to the blogeshpere. Admirable, as well as pursuing your own interests in video blogging.

I hope that moms among the blogesphere can come to recognize that lists can hurt and help but that they need not divide us as a united front in the work we do and what we strive for – whether it be a cause, to blog about our children, promote non-toxic green living or advocate for a political cause.

Well I’m glad to see I’m still on the list. I hate that I don’t see any money saving moms like Tara from Deal Seeking Mom. She doesn’t have over 13,000 subscribers for nothing;)

i absolutely agree with you. I really think this list needs to be 100 women and i just ran out of time this am. I had a conference call. Its going to be revised to 100. I just added her. I personally don’t know a lot of money saving mom blogs, but like i said, so many in subset communities that are leaders.
    I added her!

Hey I’m a Money Saving Mom Blogger and I think I rock! hehehe :)

What a great list! I know some of them and they are so good, I don’t think I can compete with some of them.

Thank you for including me on your list. We have been supportive of each other since we both began our blogs (well my first blog and I know this is your which number? I can’t keep up) and I appreciate that. Although I am on the other list, there clearly are a number of influential blogs/bloggers/twitters that were missed. It will be interesting to see the revised list.
