What did you put first today?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom’s of Maine for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

As you all know, I am an animal advocate. I think that the older I get, the more I realize that we are here to exist to do something good and if we don't…really, what is the point in living in the end? Whether its with our family, our environment, or those around us that cannot help themselves like animals or children, it makes me feel good to do good. Ask yourself:

What did you put first today that made you feel especially good?

Today so far I have cleaned up the house, played with my children, talked to some friends, sent a love note to my spouse, and did some work. All of that makes me feel good. But I love working in more of a charity capacity as well. So last week when I was on Tom’s of Maine Good First application on Facebook and they asked me that question, I obviously chose " I put animals first".

As you can see from some facebook screen shots…its a serious advocacy of mine.

I love that companies like Tome of Maine realizes that so many people, like me, want to do good! And whatever your passion is…share it! Inspire those around you, use your social media accounts to tell the world and join up!

Now earlier this week I started my volunteering at the shelter. While I am afraid of dogs a bit (big ones!) and I am so not good at the whole euthanasia situation at the shelter, after several visits I knew that I needed to help. It is not the animals fault and in most cases the shelters either. No funds, limited funds, and a never ending supply of irresponsible pet owners that contribute to the over pet population.

Starting last Friday, I begin by taking pictures of the animals to help our local county shelter find homes for the animals. Here are some of the shots I captured on my first visit that they are now using on their Facebook pages and website.

I am pleased to announce that 12 animals found homes over the weekend!

Remember, it is our responsibility to teach our children how to eat right, care for the environment, and love those around us, so whatever your passion is, make a difference! You can learn more about Toms of Maine and their mission at Tom's of Maine on Twitter , Tom's of Maine on Pinterest , and of course participate in the Tom’s of Maine Good First application on Facebook .

  1. 2. Helping Animals- If you are a regular reader of The Sitcom, I’m sure you are aware of how much we adore our live-in animals. All of our dogs are rescue dogs, a few of them rescued right off of death row. There is nothing as pure as the love of an animal. Consider adopting your next pet. There are so many out there without loving homes. I would take them all in if I could. Truly.

  2. What a generous thing to do. That must have been very rewarding. Motivates me to think about how I want to use my time to make a difference. Thanks for the motivation.

  3. Trisha you are amazing! Once September comes and both of my children are in school full-time I’m going out and volunteering at several places in my area. It is who I am and what I need to do. That is awesome on 12 pets getting homes!!

  4. You seriously are awesome for helping out all the little critters. Awesome that Tom’s of Maine is pushing good causes too. The Internet’s full of way too much griping, whining, and drama queening, so it’s nice to see a lot more positiveness being pushed around! And awesome on 12 animals getting adopted!
