I am sitting here planning our holiday dinner. Last year, I used this recipe to Brine the turkey and it was fabulous, so this year Ill be doing that again. Its pretty cool because you can actually see the skin shrinking on the turkey and its the most fun you will have cooking all day.
I am not a big fan of stuffing, and I just dont know anyone who is, so Ill be skipping that “tradition” . I think it tastes soggy. And anything that went inside a turkey doesn’t actually seem appetizing to me. blech. My Dh likes cranberries and the only recipe I ever found that I really love with cranberries is this one. Its just sweet enough with the tangy, that it has a great flavor and is also a really easy recipe with minimal ingredients.
We will also be adding:
Mashed Red Potatoes
Deviled Eggs
and 7 Layer Bean Dip to munch on while dinner gets ready.
I am undecided on a dessert…any suggestions?

Our Christmas dinner was just like Thanksgiving, but with ham and turkey. There’s so much food! Plus my brother made a turducken, which I didn’t try. They said it was good though.
Ours is pretty simple because it will just be the three of us. Turkey (if it’s not snowed in. We don’t have it yet), stuffing (cooked outside of the turkey) mashed potatos, sweet potatos and brussell sprouts and of course a nice bottle of wine. For dessert we have pumpkin pie and I’m going to try and make it myself this year. (Ladies keep your fingers crossed)

Shoot, I forgot about the banana bread and chocolate chip brownies.
Lunch & leftovers for supper… turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, cranberry sauce, pickles & olives, pinwheels (pickles, cream cheese, & corned beef), corn, green beans, cheesy potato casserole, rolls and/or homemade bread, macaroni & cheese, veggie tray (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) & ranch dip, and deviled eggs.
Dessert… multiple kinds of cookies, cheesecake, brownies, peanut butter bon bons, and chocolate covered pretzels.
Turtle cheesecake or fruit tart is always a favorite around here this time of year!:)

And P.S. We don’t put our dressing in turkey.
If it were up to me I’d just have a big plate of dressing with cranberry sauce. That’s the best part of the meal in my opinion…. not a huge fan of turkey. We usually do the traditional turkey and dressing, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, rolls.
I am not sure yet…maybe some of the stuff here as everything sounds so good. Only need to feed about 3 people.

You have to make Paula Deen’s Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle. It is our new favorite holiday dessert.

I’m heartbroken! I’m not cooking a big dinner for Christmas! And now that you have all picked yourselves up off the floor…We are doing a Prime Rib roast and a few sides. But it’s just us so that’s about all we need. I’m thinking a wedge salad, some stewed cranberries, green bean casserole and baked sweet potatoes.

For dessert there must be cheesecake as well as something chocolatey at our house. We will be having the following:
spinach artichoke dip
cheese ball with crackers
relish platter (olives and pickles)
shrimp ring with cocktail sauce
hot christmas punch
ham
broccoli cheese rice casserole
mashed taters and gravy
spinach stuffing balls (we all like stuffing here)
rolls & butter
chocolate pie
cherry cheesecake
I think that’s the whole menu, I still need to go over it and get a few things on the shopping list.

No one but me is big on the whole turkey or ham dinner, so we decided to have hoagies and fries with gravy for Christmas. We usually have alfredo, but we’ve been eating that fairly regularly as I perfect my recipe. I’ve found awesome lemon and garlic marinated chicken at my local Wegman’s and button mushrooms.

I’m actually surprised by the number of people that do a turkey on Christmas, especially after just having it on Thanksgiving.
For dessert, I’m trying my hand at an angel food cake roll, looks like a yule log, filled with homemade buttercream.

We are doing Christmas here again and just like last year I’ll have my mom’s warmer/roaster thingy and I’ll put some veggies and what not in it… I may do a crockpot turkey.. depending on if it will fit in mine if not I’ll bake in the oven and then just shred it to keep in the warmer. Last year I just had corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and a few other items. Nothing big just something simple for family to go in a get what they want when they want to eat.
