Who uses BlogHer Ads?

I know its every ones dream to make money from writing or contributing or their blog. I know because when I was looking for writers, everyone asked me if it was paid. LOL. Yes. I can afford 1 penny to every hour you spent writing. Still interested? HAHAHA

We advertise all of our blogs and boutiques for free. We do contests and reviews for free. We list your contests, feature bloggers, etc…you guessed it, for free. Now if pampers wants to come by here and NOT give me diapers to pass to you guys, but wants their logo on our page, its gonna be a charge.

Do you have a goal on your page? Do you use google ads (btw, i hate these, so you wont be seeing those here), do you use BlogHer Ads? We were approved for them but don’t know a thing about them. It would be nice to send my girls a gift card for starbucks or something every now and then for their help. Long term goals..I want to make 100K a year on the net. I am gonna need it for staring here all day going blind..I may have to get an eyeball transfusion. Heck, I have had my other website open for a year and it nets me just about enough to pay for my aching back and cracking neck. But not enough for me to want to do it forever. kwim?

Speaking of working from home, have you seen this site? Alpine Access . They hire workers at home to answer calls for places like Gap and American Express. You have regular work shifts, but get to be at home. Cool, huh!

  1. Not that I personally have any experience with this (my blog is tiny, and I am honestly ok with that!), but I heard blogHer pays $4.50 per 1000 page views. But, I guess you do not get paid for every page view, only when there are ads available.

There is a big stink about Pioneer Woman coming into the blogHer fold, and how she will tke up all the paid ad space or something.

  2. Sorry I’m going through archives here trying to catch up on what I missed for two months but I am also curious about BlogHer ads — I don’t have them but I do have GoogleAdSense which generates absolutely nothing. I mean, I’ve made 2.50 in 4 months. So I guess that is something but nothing to speak of.

I’ve been wondering how BlogHer Ads work — I currently sell ad space and that is working out nicely for me — of course it’s not a lot either, but I don’t have to conform to their restrictions, they conform to mine.

Anywhoodle, thanks to everyone for posting all of their knowledge here because I was clueless and this helped a lot. Y’all are awesome!

  3. I was thinking of looking into BlogHer ads as well. But now that my site stats are really soaring (FINALLY!) I am doing pretty well with individual paid ads and affiliate marketing. Everything I have done through my site has been free, and resources and networking still is, but am finally making money through advertising. Never tried it before, as I didn’t think it was fair to charge for advertising when there really weren’t enough visitors to warrant taking money! Keep doing whatcha love, and along the way you can make money. It takes time (and a lot of work and dedication), but if it is your passion, GO FOR IT! If you do try BlogHer ads, let me know whatcha think!

  4. I have google ads, and i have blog her ads… I have yet to receive a check from either one… and I’ve them both since February… I think their minimums to send checks are $20… and I have fairly good traffic stats… so no idea…

I’ve been told it’s much better to make money selling ad space individually..

  5. Thanks for the heads up ladies!

I had a friend once say her blog brought her just enough coffee money for the month. LOL! But I thought that was really cool. She is w/ blogher, but she gets about 17K visitors a month……so I was thinking…..w/ that many visitors, coffe money seemed small.

  6. I thought BlogHer ads were like top secret or something because I could never find any information on them. I want to know how much I’m being paid if it means putting a HUGE skyscraper on my sidebar which may take away from potential advertiser who may be willing to pay more. I’m also not ready to start a new blog for reviews and things so I just said forget it.

You don’t have to pay me a penny, if you need an extra writer on board =).

  7. I’ve been with BlogHer for a while now. Yes, they do have very strict rules – no paid posts, if you keep an item you’re reviewing it needs to be less than a $40 value, no other ads above theirs, etc.

I am a little confused as to how I’m getting paid, though. It’s supposed to be based on how many page views you have and although my hits have increased by 500%, I still make the same amount I did when I first joined.

I have someone from BlogHer looking into it. I’ll keep you posted. :-)

  8. I use BlogHer ads, but am taking a hiatus. They have very strict policies about sponsored posts and any advertising that may be more prominent than theirs. I am currently working on moving all my product reviews and sponsored posts to a new blog. When my blog becomes my personal blog again, the ad code will go back up.

  9. I don’t like all the distraction from the ads. I blog just to blog, not to make money, and I rarely enter contests, but that might change. LOL

  10. As for BlogHer ads, I ‘m not sure about them. I can research it a little more.

I’m trying to improve my standing and get more traffic to my site by adding Encarta and trying to respond to 50 blogs a day, so I can join a review site. We will see how that goes.

Let me know what you find out about the BlogHer ads.

  11. I don’t use any ads. That stuff confuses me, and I’d rather use the space promoting my favorite blogs!

  12. My best friends dad did it for years and really enjoyed it. I would love to do it! However I have issue giving up my PERA and my amazing health insurance… My kids would be fine since their dad works for the school district and it would be on his insurance.

However, it’s a nice paying gig from everything I have heard.

  13. I went to the website and checked it out. I’m always alittle wary of the work at home positions. This is something I may look into though.

  14. RL- yse, i got that from a friend who WORKED for them. You get shifts at home and can trade shifts, etc. its a real job. If you quit, they dont hire you back. You have to go through training and drug screening as well.

  15. I would LOVE to have an income from blogging, but I really don’t know how to go about it. I’ve tried Google ads, but they didn’t help…and my niche may make it alittle difficult for me too. Is there anyone who has actually worked for Alpine Access? If you’re out there, please email me. I’d love to know more from a personal point of view.

  16. One of my goals is to be a six-figure pro-blogger. In the $150K-$500K range. Lofty goal, I know, but I’m nothing if not driven and ambitious. I want to be the go-to resource blog for eco-friendly home decor — and I know I can do it.
