Wild Planet made Charlotte go Wild! (closed)
Every now and then we get the opportunity to test out a product, which is great. Its even better when that product is a TOY. I am not sure who was more excited to see what mystery toy came in the mail, my daughter or I. When we opened it, there was a collective “ooooooohhhhhhh”. I hadn’t even seen this toy yet and it looked just short of totally awesome.
So we set up the toy, requiring a few batteries, and go to work setting it up. You HAVE to watch this video of my DH and daughter playing this game:
How is THAT video for a thumbs up from Charlotte (and did you enjoy my DH running around playing too? LOL)! What we loved about this game as a family, was that it involved getting up and moving around. There are so many video games in the market now a days, that what our kids really need is an incentive to move thier tooshes.
There are several levels of this game and it moves on from naming which animal to find, by colors, to phonics, to the sounds the animal makes, and really switches it up. Its also an easy set up for a child to just start the game by a simple push of the button and to put right on top of the animal.
Wild Planet says this about the toy:

What Animal Planet says:
Animal Scramble features an electronic hand-held tagger shaped like a giraffe and four fist-sized friends (a monkey, parrot, tiger and elephant). The giraffe calls out which animals kids should run to and tag and tracks the amount of time taken to complete each course. In team mode, kids are instructed to pass the giraffe to other players as they work cooperatively to achieve their fastest time.
The giraffe houses a microchip that uses Radio Frequency Identification to recognize the different animal targets, which can be set up side-by-side, or spread out across the length of a football field. There is no limit to the distance between targets. Farther targets result in more running and exercise. When the giraffe is placed over the correct animal, the circuit is complete and the players advance.
As the game progresses, the commands become more challenging. In early levels, the giraffe calls out the first letter or full name of the animal to tag. Once kids master the names, the game adds in animal sounds, colors and characteristics. (Who says roar? Who is orange? Who has stripes?) These questions help kids learn to identify single objects in multiple ways.
Animal Scramble requires physical exertion through running, bending, reaching and tagging movements that aid in the development of large and small muscle groups while improving coordination and motor skills. The sharing, listening and turn-taking aspects of the game practice positive social behaviors. Played indoors or out, solo or in teams, Animal Scramble keeps kids up on their feet, expending energy and having fun.
Requires 3 AA batteries, not included.
Recommended Ages: 3-5 / Players: 1-6

My daughter would probably like any of the spy gear. I can see her liking the night goggles.
My niece would love the Water Baby Doll (Pink Daisy)
I love to turn on music and dance with my kids. Anything by Hap Palmer is really go for educational value as well, plus his songs are mostly about movement. The new kids CD I want is from the Barenaked Ladies. They’ve put out a kids CD called Snack Time.
My daughter would like one of the newborn water babies…maybe the yellow bunny one. We’d also love the animal scramble!

Well, they’re not my children, but they’re my niece and nephew, and we love to take them to the park. Other activities we do are running through the sprinklers when it’s hot outside, going for walks around the block, encouraging them to ride their bikes and scooters, both of which they love, and going to places like the Children’s Discovery Museum and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Thanks so much!

It’s a tie between the Hyper Dash and the Hyper Jump. I think the Hyper Dash would get them moving more which is good. I also like it because it is for older kids and my older boys would love it!
These days it’s so hard to get them away from the tv, computer, etc. My parents bought a basketball hoop for our backyard (we have a cement slab for playing on) and we try to keep the basketballs and all other balls and bats and mitts, etc very accessible to the older boys so they can go outside and play as much as they want. Lately they’ve been loving playing catch in the backyard and also playing basketball. Another sneaky mom thing that I do is find ways to get them to go up and down the stairs as much as I can when it’s too hot or too cold or the air quality is deemed unhealthy in our area so that they can still be active while staying indoors. I’ll get them to run upstairs and get a diaper for me to change the baby or go get my cell phone or my book or the baby’s toys or their laundry (they like to dump it over the railing which is fine and fun) or take their laundry upstairs or whatever. It can get a little crazy some days when I am really trying to think of things to have them do but it works. Sometimes they know I’m being silly but they will do what I ask anyway and just laugh about it.
We do a playdate with other kids at least 1x a week. Plus, we have a toddler pool and sprinkler in the backyard for summer fun. And when the boys are really wild, we walk to the neighborhood playground for swinging and sliding fun.
My nephew would go wild for the Power Rangers Jungle Fury Walkie Talkies. Plus, he could play with his sister on them! They both love Power Rangers!
I can see the Dodge discs being a favorite in our house, not just for the kids but I think mom and dad can get in on the action with that one.
Entry 2 … we love for our kids to get outdoors and AWAY from tv as much as possible. So during weekends we do little family trips to places like the zoo, the park, pumpkin and apple orchards in the fall, and family festivals.

Entry 1….I really like the line of Water Babies dolls. My daughter is in love with baby dolls right now and those are just too cute.

My little guy is REALLY into pirates right now, so I think he’d love the Pirate Light Scope. Have to add that to the Christmas list for sure!!
At our house, we have music time. Sometimes we just take out all our toy instruments and everyone just goes to town, but my son much prefers that we put on one of our pop or rap music cds for children. He loves to dance and it’s great exercise for the both of us.
I think my son would love the Pirate Treasure Hunter. It is a new twist on an old game. Plus he just loves anything to do with pirates. He doesn’t have his own treasure chest yet though.
I think that all 4 of my kids would love this game or any of the ones that they sell, especially the Hyper Dash.
Dodge disks!!!
Can you imagine how much fun Christmas Day would be with that!?!?
The new hyper jump looks cool.

What a fun game, my younger ones would love it! They’d also love the Mighty Pens – I may go ahead and pick a few of those up for stocking stuffers! I can’t believe its already to start thinking of those!
Some of the ways I keep my kids (ages 4.5, 3.5 and almost 2) busy are to play silly games. We love the Mama version of Simon Says, and my favorite game of “Okay, now run and touch the couch, now run to your bedroom….now run to the bathroom…now touch the kitchen table”, etc. It’s a great game!
I LOVE Hyperdash! My stepson and I have played this before and it was so much fun!
HyperDash is an awesome game. We played it last weekend at a friend’s house. I requested it for my son for his bday when that friend asked what to get him! Hyper Jump looks like something the kids would like too!
It’s really not hard to get my kids moving. They’re SO active that it’s not hard to just shut off the tv and herd everyone outside.
Where we live is surrounded on 3 sides by a cow pasture. Our backyard slopes in a pretty steep hill, and the kids’ favorite thing in the world to do is run to the top of the hill and then roll or slide down. Of course, we don’t have dirt here, we have red clay, so every day they come in looking like Oompa Loompas, but they’ve had a ball, they’ve gotten a TON of exercise, and everyone’s happy! (Except my husband, who has to clean out the bathtub every.single.night.)
The “Hyper Dash” just sounds like a toy that would be perfect for my kids! It seems like such a great way to get kids moving without realizing that they’re exercising!
To keep the little one active, we’ll do animal races. Someone shouts out an animal name and you have to act like it, as you make your way from one end of the living room to the other. We also play soccer and throw balls, in the house too. I’ve never been one for the “no ball in the house” rule.
We’re also really lucky that we live next door to a daycare & have access to their playground after they close. So we spend a lot of evenings over there running around.
I love the video!!!! Charlotte is a doll!!!! I think I really want the Aqua Light Mask for myself!!! It’s always fun to have pool toys here in AZ!!
